Just Like Your Mother

"Wait, Mama," I said as she went to leave the room.

"Yes, darling."

"Am I still grounded?" I asked in ashamed.

She tilted her head and pursed her lips.

"Yes, baby. As your father instructed, you're still grounded."

"Can I ask you one more thing?"

"What is it, darling?" She asked.

"Why did you come back home, so earlier?" I asked.

"Oh. The plane was having a technical problem, so our flight couldn't make a departure."

"Oh, okay," I said as she walked out the door.

Maybe that was my fate. So I stayed in my room the rest of the night and thought about what my Mama and I had talked about just now.

The next morning was a weekend. And every weekend in the morning, we had family breakfast as usual. My mother said it was the one day of the week that we had to eat breakfast as a family. As I didn't want to go downstairs because I couldn't face my father after what happened yesterday.
