"It's time to blow out your birthday candles, Mu Kang," My mother smiled as she led me into the kitchen.
Everyone gathered around, sang "Happy Birthday," for one more and clapped as I blew out my twenty-five candles.
"Did you make a wish, Mu Kang?" My father asked.
"Yes," I smiled.
Though I was celebrating my birthday right now, truthfully my heart was broken with a void so deep that any emotion or feeling would get lost.
After I cut the first piece of cake, I handed the knife to my mother and walked over to the bar to fill up on vodka for the night as I just needed to feel nothing for this one last time being a broken man.
Because I'll start my twenty-five move on and leave the past permanently.
