Chapter 20- lover

Jonathan, feeling dejected after Catherine's harsh rejection, headed straight to the bar to ease his mood with a few drinks. Afterward, he returned to the hotel and noticed Clarisse's room across the hall. He suddenly remembered leaving her alone in the restaurant and knocked on her door to check if she had safely returned.

After several knocks with no response, Jonathan's heart sank. He couldn't help but worry if something had happened to her in the restaurant after being approached by someone. His concern intensified, and he knocked harder.

"Who's there?"

After a moment, a sleepy voice answered from behind the door, sounding like someone who had been awakened from sleep.

"It's me! Just checking if you're back. Go back to sleep!"
