6 The move

Leaving the hospital, Antonio walked by my side without a care in the world. The people in the hospital looked at us both weirdly, most probably because of my infamous reputation around the pack. I was after all the woman who tried to kill the beloved Alpha.

As we walked past the people, l could hear the rumours begin. Most of the people weren't to fond of me and were saying the most vile things. I guess Antonio heard them too because he turned around and growled at them causing them to bow their heads and the talking seized.

This caused me to worry about the people knowing about our mates hip. I was in no way ready for people to know that l was mated to their Alpha.

Outside the pack house weren't a lot of people, but l could see the few minding their business or so that's what they portrayed. I could see how they all looked at us from their peripheral vision and l couldn't help snorting out a laugh. Antonio looked at me like l had grown mad which fueled me to laugh even more.

I could tell he was starting to grown agitated, at the possibility that l may be laughing at him.

"relax, lm not laughing at you. Your pack members are comedians"

He took that as a sign to look around at his surroundings before he joined me in laughter. After that we continued walking in silence. We made it to the pack house and l could already sense the presence of more than ten twenty wolves. Some cooking and the others in the television room

I looked at my surroundings to see what time it was and l could tell by the way the sun was shining so brightly that it had to be around noon which meant the other omegas were preparing for lunch.

"where are we going. I thought you were taking me back to the dungeons" l asked

"I think cage is more fitting" he smile with a ghost of a smile gracing his lips

"Finally someone who agrees with me. But that's not what l asked" l said. He wasn't subtle in his obvious attempt to steer the conversation in a different direction

"No you won't. I won't let it happen. I know you don't want anyone knowing about our secret so l have decided to let you go back to what you were doing before the mayhem that went down. But that doesn't mean you are off the hook. You and l still have a lot to discuss. Which is why you will be changing roles

Your new job is now to clean my quarters " he said

I looked at him like he was crazy cause he clearly had lost his mind. Why in the hell would they allow the person who 'almost killed him' to clean his quarters. I can easily do it again.

" why the change in my duties? "

" Everyone saw it as a fitting punishment for trying to take my life. According to them you have to suffer seeing my face everyday, the face you tried to kill but took kindness on you and granted you mercy. It's supposed to eat you from the inside " l laughed at how stupid their reasoning was. One of the many reasons why this pack will never advance.

" how smart " l said sarcastically. This caused him to laugh, he laughed so had that he tried and landed on his buttocks.

" my reaction exactly " he said settling down and getting back on his feet.

"I am sorry you know" he said after a while of us standing in silence

"it wasn't your fault or maybe it is. If only your beta was someone with common sense. But he did swear to keep You safe so all rational thinking must have to who knows where when he found you on the ground. I would love to have such loyal people by my side "

" I wasn't talking about that. I mean l am sorry for the way l treated you" l looked at him and l could see the sincerity in his eyes

"You are not sorry for how you treated me, you are sorry because that is how you treated your mate." he looked down at the ground ashamed before opening his mouth to speak again.

"But l will say that l am grateful that you never felt the need to fake your appreciation or love for me. You owned your truth unlike most of the people here. And l would choose an honest man over a fake any day" l said with a smile

"I guess l never thought or expected that my mate would turn out to be an Omega. Not just that but a former rogue as well. No offence to you or your kind but you know the stigma associated with rogues. I guess l let that get the best of me and that is not how an Alpha acts. And lm glad you are my mate. It is giving me an opportunity to evaluate myself and be the best Alpha. I will rectify my mistakes, even if l spend my whole life doing so" he said. A few tears escaped his eyes before he turned to look at the side and laughed.

I didn't know what to say so l simply nodded even though l knew he couldn't see me and made my way into the pack house. Everyone was silent as they turned to look at me.

I was once again under the scrunity of stuck up individuals who thought they were better than me

"why is everyone so quiet" Antonio asked when he made it into the house. No one said a thing as they resumed with their left in the air conversations.

"you didn't have to say or do anything for my sake" l said, although l was grateful for his intervention cause had l said anything, it wouldn't have been nice in the house.

"I have a lot of making up to do, so does the pack" he said with a smile
