CHAPTER 45

　　Kara

　　Stefan stayed with me for a while, but I asked him not to talk to me. We sat on the couch, facing each other. We looked at each other, but neither of us had anything to say. Maybe he had a lot to say to me, and I had a lot to say to him, but neither of us spoke. Silence enveloped us and the room. I had to get used to the silence of the house because Derek had left.

　　I don't know what would become of me. The word "defeated" described me. It seemed wrong that Derek left the house and left me here. The house wasn't mine; it was his. But Derek didn't care. Despite his pain, he thought of me and my financial situation. However, this made me feel worse.

　　"Are we not going to say anything?"

　　"There's nothing we need to say to each other."

　　"Do you know what I did today?" he asked me.

　　"What did you do?"

　　"I told Sara to cancel the medical appointment for the child we'll have because I prioritized your well-being and that of our children."
