Leaving the hospital

Olivia shrugged. Well you're right though, he is my boyfriend.

Scott felt a tingling sensation in his stomach as Olivia said this. Even though she didn't say it in any peculiar manner, her tone was flat as she spoke. But somehow, it still made his heart flutter.

Scott stared at Joe, he already liked the teenager. he had an attitude very similar to that of his sister. He had just narrowly escaped death and paralysis, but here he was, still smiling jovially like nothing had happened.

Merely staring at the condition Joe was in, and the bandages that covered him up, it was very easy to see that the boy was in serious pain.

Joe probably knew his situation was a fire one, yet here he was, pretending like nothing had gone wrong and smiling so happily.

Seeing the jovial demeanor that Joe was putting on, one would think that Joe had had the happiest of lives.

When Scott got to know Olivia, he had expected her brother to be a spoilt brat that cried easily.

I mean, since Olivia had shouldered all the problems alone and always tried her best not to ever show tears, it was very easy for that to mislead one and make one think that she didn't pass the same habit onto her brother.

But he was wrong, Joe had turned out to be a mature young teenager.

Olivia suddenly brought her face closer to Scott's face as she whispered. I made your heart flutter didn't I?

Scott had a blank expression on his face as he pushed her face back to where it came from.

Olivia laughed mirthfully. Then she stood up.

Alright Joe, we'll see you later.

Joe was surprised. Really? So fast? You're leaving now?

Olivia nodded as she pulled Scott who was also staring at her in surprise. You think we have all day to waste? I'm a busy lady yo!

Scott was surprised by her tone, she never spoke like this so why was she forcing the accent and the speech?

Joe eyed Olivia. When will you come next?

Olivia shrugged. I don't know, I've got work to do, the bills won't pay themselves.

Now, she was very serious with her last statement.

With that, Olivia turned around to go. Scott waved at Joe as Olivia pulled him forward.

Olivia suddenly stopped at the door and walked back to Joe's sick bed. She bent and gave him a small kiss.

Joe cleaned his cheek immediately. Mmh! Gross!

Olivia delivered a hot slap to his head with a small laugh.

Joe smiled as she turned around and started walking away. Bye, Sis!

Olivia winked at him before she left.

Like that, Olivia forgot to do the test Evelyn asked her to do.

Olivia was happy that her brother was not in a bad emotional situation as she expected him to be. She couldn't stop thanking goodness that he was not downtrodden.

Olivia knew her brother was always positive and tried his best to be cheerful all the time, but what hit him this time was way too big for an orphaned teenager to bottle up.

Thankfully, he seemed to be coping very fine.

Joe sighed as Olivia and her boyfriend left.

I hope I'd get through this.

Joe's happy demeanor had suddenly vanished and it was replaced with a moody kid that looked very unhappy.

Scott and Olivia exited the hospital in silence.

In fact, since yesterday night, whenever they were together, they were always quiet and an awkward air always danced around them.

Olivia had tried saying a few things to him today but his reply was abrupt and to-the-point. worse more, he didn't joke again.

She had to admit it, she missed the annoying but humble Scott. This new Scott was kinda boring.

Olivia couldn't help but talk to him about it. Even though she knew it was mainly her fault.

Scott. She called.

Scott turned his head in her direction. Yeah?

Olivia sighed. There's been a weird air pervading us…

Olivia saw Scott's blank face and she immediately knew that she had to expatiate on the idea of weird air pervading them.

What I mean is…You're not being yourself.
