Cowards
The anxiety in the air intensified at the mention of Prince Beshar's name.
Even the captured criminal who had blurted out the name was terrified of the King's next action. He was certain that his head would not remain on his body for much longer.
Unfortunately, he was right.
No sooner had he mentioned the name than the executioner lowered his sword.
As the executed man's head rolled away from his falling body, all the guilty men in the room stilled their breath, terrified of what the king would do next.
Probably dragged his son out and had him interrogated and stripped of his entitlement.
King Xavier leaned back in his seat, his heart heavy with grief at Beshar's betrayal.
To think that Beshar would go through all this length to betray his family, for the sake of power was disheartening.
