Chapter 10: Finding Nemo

After a nice evening with his parents and a good night sleep, Weis yawned, as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyesockets. He looked out the window and saw that the sun was already up, so he quickly jumped out of the bed and wore his clothes.

Running to the kitchen for breakfast, he came across his mother, who was already glaring at him. In less than a second, Weis came to a halt, turned around and ran to bruch his teeth.

After that he arrived in the kitchen, where he ate with his parents, ignoring the pointed looks his mother was giving him.

'Thank god I remembered. If not I could forget my lessons for today.'

Weis was getting swimming lessons, after the revelation to his parents, about the devilfruit. His father was going to train in the yard, while his mother would take him to learn swimming in the lagune.

After breakfast, they took something to eat, as well as towels, all in a basket. His mother carried it and he was free to run around.

Oh how he loved the freedom and the nature around him.

'Now I have to learn swimming. Ugh. In my last life I never wanted to, cause deep and scary, and didn't need to but what can you do. There is no way, you survive a shipwreck by praying.'

Weis and Sera arrived at the beach. He helped his mother setting up the towels on the ground, and now was waiting for his mother so that they can begin.

"Ok, Weis. First and foremost. What you will first need to feel and be comfortable with, is the sea itself. You are going to lie in the water for 10 minutes. Get used to the feeling of the water. Feel it and don't be afraid. Yes, the sea is dangerous and scary at night. But so is the forest or any other place that is not home. So when you lie in the water, try to feel like you are at home in your bed."

Weis listening to his mother was suprised. He thought they would start with leg kicking in the water or something. But he believed his mother to know more than him, so he nodded.

Sera watched with amusement, as Weis was listening with a very serious expression.

"Great. Then let's try it. Don't go far into the water just so that you can lie down, with water all around you."

Sera took his hand and they both came to the water. After only 1 feet Sera stopped.

"Ok? Now you will try to lie in the water and try to relax. Try to be at peace and think of home."

Sera encouraged Weis. He swallowed and then sat down. The water only reached his waist. After one last glance at his mother, Weis took a deep breath, and let himself lie down.

'Here goes nothing.'

*SCHWOOoomp*

His face was over the water but he still had his eyes closed, as well the breath he still held.

All sound was muted. He could still hear his mother telling him to keep his face above the waterline, and to breath. So that he did. And the feeling was interesting.

He could feel the water. The way the waves tried to push him to the shore on the way to the beach. And when they came back he could feel the pull to take him out to the sea. But soft. Gentle beckoning. Careful puches. He felt like he was once again in the womb of his mother. All thoughts of the scary water, were melting into nothing. Only peace. He could hear his breathing louder than before going into the water. He could hear the sand beneath him rustling with the push and pull of the waves. Hear the wind gently breathing over him. He opened his eyes and saw the sky.

'So blue. So...beautiful. Do I really deserve this? This happiness? I hope I am worthy of your gift Terra.'

Sera watched as Weis relaxed in the water. She watched in surprise, how comfortable he became. Just lying in the water, as if it was the best medicine for his worries. With a happy smile she waited.

"Good. 10 minutes are up. Let's go back to the beach."

She helped him up and together they walked to the towels. After siting down and handing out some snacks, they talked about his practice.

Weis was excited and told all he could think of. Sera listened with smiles and nodded her head repeatedly.

"Very good. But that was only the first step. Now we will do that every 30 minutes for the rest of the day, and tomorrow, we begin with swimming itself."

After that for the rest of the day, Weis would lie in the water for 10 minutes each, and feel the sea.

After the sun was getting low on the horizon, they packed up and wanted to go home, when they saw a ship appear.

Both stopped. Sera squinted her eyes, and then let out a sigh.

"Come weis, let's go home. We need to dress you up a bit."

"Hm? Why? Do you know who is coming?"

"Yes. Yes I do. But we don't have the best relationship."

Weis was getting confused. Who was coming?

Seeing the look on his face, Sera sighted again and said, "My father."
