Chapter 13

White'scales was the first the wake up, even if it was still dark.. She was probably the youngest of the huddle, so it was expected that her instincts were telling her to stay in the warm, cozy pile that everyone one was in. She would've if she wasn't so hungry. There had to be food on this island. From the show, there were Mangoes growing here.

White'Scales carefully weaved her way out of the group. She thought she saw Strider and Zero stir a bit, but they were still asleep, she hoped.

White'Scales was careful where she stepped, her night vision was underdeveloped, so she could not see well in the dark. Even though she was small, she managed to step and break on a stick. Now she was sure Zero was awake, but if he was, he wasn't making much of an effort to say so. So she continued until she saw a mango tree.

She didn't really think it would be that tall as shown from the hsow. But when she was only a feet tall while the riders are probably 6 to 7, it was definitely towering over her, but the mangoes were so close to her. White'Scales reached out, only for it to be only a inch away. She tried to stretch her claws up, but it only touched the bottom, she could not get a grip.

A large tail came knocked down the branch, making the fruits fall with a thud. Some of the leaves came down to.

'Thank you!' she thanked, shaking to get rid of the leaves.

'You're welcome.' said a familiar voice.

'Wait...' she turned around slowly to see Zero, which also made her jump. 'Wah! What are you doing here Zero?!'

She realized she might have said something more she shouldn't have said.

'You shifted too much...Why are you here?'

'H-hungry'

'Well...Changing the subject, you talk a lot for hatchling don't you think?'

She never thought that Zero could be intimidating but, even without seeing his face, he looked intimidating.

'...' Maybe if I'll stay quiet maybe he'll stop...

'Do you, perhaps know about, Earth? '

How?? What? I-.. '...'

'I'll take that as a yes, you see, i think you, and Strider also came from earth, with is a good thing. I think...Strider is still asleep, so I'll talk to her later...'

Zero went back. White'scales was definitely not expecting that. And especially not expecting him to just walk away back. But, she was still hungry, and that Zero being weird didn't stop her to remember. She looked beside her to see a couple of mangos. The rest were somewhere in the dark. She wanted to chow down, but then got an idea. She used her tail to chop it into pieces, it was hard, and she could not cut threough the middle peices because of the seed. Oh...Would cooked mangos taste good...?Mh...Wish I had a fire to cook it...

Suddenly, she felt a warm heat around her tail. Huh? trying to look at her tail, there was a small, blue glow. Stretching out her neck further, there was small flame at the edge of her tail. Fire! Put it out, put it out!

Before White'Scales could smack her tail on the ground, the flame extinguished, living no burn marks whatsoever. How did blue fire get on my tail? How did it not burn it?! As soon a she thought o fire, the heat came back, it was like and on-command. Wait, if Zero got cool powers as a Albino, and I'm albino...Does that mean my power is fire??? IS my venom flammable? What if venom can come out of tail and I can light it on fire. I thought my power was my fins...Considering they're wider and stretch out more, kinda like wings, and i have more control of them. Then she thought back to the mango idea.

After clearing out the rest of the leaf clutter, so a forest fire wouldn't start. She gathered some in one pile, which also had stick messily place in it and stones around it. Trying out the idea if venom can drop from her tail, she angled it and, after a lot of trying, finally got some to come down. And after more time it started to become faster, till it was just enough to stop. Ignite her tail, but lower the heat to be regular orange, she carefully lowered it in, and the whole thing caught fire and she was not fast enough to remove her tail, but it just felt like a gentle heat than a burning sensation. I'm fire-proof as well!

White'Scales spiked four mangoes and put it close to the fire, after a while, it didn't real look different. When she chowed down on it, it was softer and sweeter than the average mango. She ate the rest with one quick chomp. She cooked the rest of the other sliced mangoes quickly and ate them.

White'Scales thought about how hungry the rest would be when they woke up, so she decided to look for more mangoes, cut them up, cook them, and gather them into one place to store. It was getting slightly brighter in the sky as well, so she'd have to be quick.

After a while of cooking, and gathering mangoes into one pile on the leaves, White'Scales slumped down in a random direction, falling on the fire. The Fire was warm, encouraging her to sleep, and that is what she tried to do; but the more she stayed in the fire, the more energy she got, it's like the fire is resting her brain. She soon got up and shook herself. What can I do if I can't sleep? Maybe test if I can fly, the tree looks climbable.

White'Scales was on one of the tree's branches; not to high and not to low. She would try to glide first, then fly, then take off. She spread her fins, or, wings, and jumped. She gently floated down. Then, once she climbed the tree again, and jumped, she flapped her wings. After a steady rhythm, she no longer had to focus on it. Yes, im doing it! Wait, isn't that just take off?

She decided to stay on the ground to practice up take off and flying. Taking off was easy, but flying was the hard part. If she tilted too much she'd go too fast or even spin, but after a while her body adjusted. She didn't really like it if she'd fly, only when she needed to, considering that she can also walk on water.

White'Scales glanced at the sky to see it was turning brighter as the sun came over the horizon, it was time to wait for her family to wake up.
