15 Important Decisions

(Kairo's POV)

Nah, why would I eat any of the unknown Devil Fruits?

A/N: There were too many mixed opinions, so I decided to make him not eat one at all.

Edit: Whoever stayed neutral, I love you and thank you.

For all I know, they could be really bad Devil Fruits.

There are too many Devil Fruits with potential that have not been eaten yet.

Zushi Zushi, Ito Ito, Yami Yami, and the 3 Admirals' Devil Fruits!

Why would I eat any of the unknown ones and risk getting a bad ability?

There's even a Devil Fruits Encyclopedia!

Anyways, there's no point risking getting a bad ability yet so far, I can always get another ability with power, potential, and utility!

I'll ask Instructor Zephyr about the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia.

...

"Instructor Zephyr, are there any ways for me to look at the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia?"

"Huh? Why would you want that? Don't tell me you want to eat a Devil Fruit?"

"I'm just interested in the Devil Fruits that I might find. I might even find some Logias and I might eat them."

"*sigh* Alright, you need 10,000 Military Merits to take a look at the Devil Fruits Encyclopedia for 1 hour."

'10,000? The amount I've accumulated up over the years is 12,420. I should be able to take a look at the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia then.'

"Thank you, Instructor."

"No problem."

After thanking Instructor Zephyr, I headed towards the Exchange Office to exchange for the Devil Fruits Encyclopedia.

"Hello Bob, I would like to exchange my Military Merits for a look at the Devil Fruits Encyclopedia."

A/N: Beware, I will add some fruits that Kairo will potentially eat in the future

"Aight Kairo, that'll be 10,000 points. You will have 2,420 points afterward, are you sure?"

"Yep, I'm confident."

Bob deducted my points and gave me a card, "Go to the library in the Navy H.Q, you can go to the librarian and hand him this card, he'll bring you to a secret room, blindfolded. Don't try anything, the secret room is located right in the middle of the H.Q, so Vice Admirals will be able to jump you anytime."

I thanked him for his warning, then I headed to the library.

"Hello, I would like to look at the Encylopedia", I said as I handed him the card.

The librarian took the card, then blindfolded me, and led me somewhere.

'I can feel 3 Rear Admiral leveled combatants. I'll use my Observation Haki to memorize the route, then I'll rob this place when I decide to leave the Marines.'

As they led me to the secret room and I memorized the route on the way, we finally arrived after 10 minutes of walking.

'huh? Why is this even called a secret room? It's literally a straight path from the library?'

I snapped out of my thoughts as they placed the Devil Fruits Encyclopedia in front of me.

"You have one hour, if you don't come out after 1 hour, we will forcefully drag you out and pluck your eyeballs."

'Are they serious? Oh well, worst scenario, I'll just bolt out of this room and leave the Marines somehow, but we'll talk about that at a later day.'

I flipped the first page to the Encyclopedia, and found...the Kilo-Kilo Fruit?

'The hell is that?'

Next page, I found the Bomb-Bomb Fruit.

'Isn't that the booger guy's ability?'

I kept on flipping and flipping, only finding useless things, but I didn't dare skip a single page due to the possibility of a strong Devil Fruit on that page.

Eventually, I found my first Logia.

It was the Snow-Snow Fruit.

'Nah, not as good as Kuzan's Ice-Ice Fruit.

Next, I found the Heat-Heat Fruit, the weaker version of Flame-Flame Fruit.

'That's the fruit of that f*cking bastard, Oven.'

Eventually, I found the first one that I wanted.

'Zushi-Zushi no Mi... That's Fujitora's fruit. I want it. It has a lot of power, potential, and utility.

A/N: I'm using the Japanese name because there are no official English names for this particular fruit.

'I can use it for mass-destruction, fly, and even create continents!'

'Most importantly, I can imitate Pain!'

As I snapped out of my thoughts, trying to not waste any more time, I found the next potential fruit, String-String Fruit.

'That's Doffy's fruit. Doffy has already shown the potential of the fruit in the anime, and I think I can do even more things on top of what he has shown. If I awaken the fruit, I can transmute the surrounding areas into strings, making me virtually invincible!'

Afterward, I found the 3 Admiral's Devil Fruits, but I think I'd prefer the Light-Light Fruit. I've always had a knack for flashy things.

As I kept looking through the Encyclopedia, there was nothing notable except for one, the Control (Ope) Devil Fruit.

'The Marines were willing to buy the Devil Fruit for 5 billion berries due to the unique ability to grant someone else eternal youth...'

If I can get someone to use it on me, I'd never age.

I could wait for the powerhouses to get old and die, and I could come out once everyone has died.

I want it, but not to eat.

I want someone to use the eternal youth operation on me.

As I kept flipping through the Encyclopedia, before I knew it, 1 hour has already passed.

The Rear Admiral combatants notified me that 1 hour has passed, and I regretfully came out of the secret room, once again blindfolded.

'Oh well, I can always steal this book when I leave the Marines.'

I memorized the shape and colors of the Devil Fruits I wanted, and if I come across any of them, I'll eat that one.

But now, I'll get started on Advanced Haki training.

...

In the anime, the method for training Advanced Armament Haki was repeatedly punching a thick steel block.

So, I was planning to do that, but this time, I asked Instructor Zephyr for a favor.

"Do you know how much I had to go through to get this for you?!? I'm only doing this for you because you are my only student!"

I asked him to get me a thick block of Seastone.

Yes, Seastone.

Seastone is immensely rare and expensive, and Zephyr had to use all of his favors to get a thick block for me.

I'm thankful that I became his disciple.

I started the training for Advanced Armament Haki.

I kept punching the Seastone block with my Armament Haki activated, trying to direct all of my Haki towards my fists, channeling the excess Haki around my body.

A/N: I got this information from the One Piece wiki

It took 3 months, but I finally learned the Emission technique, allowing me to project Haki flow from my body without a medium.

Now, I'm going for Internal Destruction, which is a higher form of Emission.

It took me 2 months to learn Internal Destruction.

...

I achieved Internal Destruction and practiced it on the Seastone block.

It didn't have any external damage, but when I used my Observation Haki, I found a tiny crack on the inside.

Now I know that it's possible to destroy Seastone.

Now, it was time for Observation Haki training.

I'll try to achieve Future Vision, but if that's not possible, I'll try to extend the range of my Observation Haki, and make it more precise/focused.

To train this, I tried to cover as much range as possible with my Observation Haki.

I couldn't achieve Future Vision, even after 6 months of training it.

That was a disappointment, Future Vision would be a tremendous asset when I'm fighting.

I tried to comfort myself by telling myself that my unique Observation Haki; the ability to perfectly sense inanimate objects, and the environment around me, would also be a great asset in a battle.

I mourned the missed opportunity to get Future Vision for days.

Two years passed in the blink of an eye, and major things happened.

...

Dragon left the Marines at age 21.

He saw the cruelty of the Celestial Dragons, and he couldn't handle serving them like dogs anymore.

Before he made his decision to leave, he came to me.

(Flashback)

One day, Dragon suddenly asked me, "Kairo, come with me. I'm leaving the Marines."

I acted surprised, and asked, "Why? You're a Vice Admiral! You worked hard to get your position!"

"It's because of those Celestial Bastards..."

I know. Those bastards up there are f*cking disgusting in the anime and manga.

Still, I acted like I was surprised and asked, "The World Nobles? What did they do? Why are you involving them in this?"

Dragon had a dark look on his face and said, "You don't know them. The Celestial Dragons treat human lives like toys. They enslave and r*pe whoever they want on the streets, and US, the VICE-ADMIRALS, WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO ENFORCE JUSTICE, ARE THE ONES DOING IT FOR THEM! I've had enough of serving those pieces of sh*ts. I'm gonna overthrow them."

It seems like he already had the idea of the Revolution Army.

"Then let's form an army. We'll overthrow them. You from the outside, and I from the inside.

Together, we'll do it."

Dragon and I exchanged Vivre cards before heading our separate ways.

(End flashback)

Many Vice Admirals sympathized with him, but they still hunted him.

After all, they couldn't let someone with classified information running off, can they?

Also... Father died.

Father died to Monkey D. Garp and Gol D. Roger at God Valley.

After Father died, Rocks Pirates were disbanded, and Kaido, Big Mom, and Whitebeard formed their own crews and became an Emperor.

I graduated from the Elite camp a few weeks after learning Advanced Haki, and was promoted to Vice Admiral after a few months.

I kept the Devil Fruits with me, in case I'd need it for something.

I secretly passed the information on the Marines to Dragon through an untrackable Den Den Mushi, and he informed me that he's preparing to overthrow Kingdoms under the World Government, and officially revealing the existence of the Revolutionary Army soon.

Once he does that, anyone who was close to him would be placed under heavy suspicion and have their movements restricted.

That's when I'll leave the Marines.

I'm already under heavy suspicion and have my movements restricted as Dragon's best and only friend in the Marines.

Garp is also under heavy suspicion, but no one dared to restrict his movements due to his newfound status.

I've prepared a custom warship for myself, secreting coating it with the Seastone block Zephyr got for me, and even more Seastones that I got through doing missions as a Vice Admiral.

The Marines already assigned 3 Vice Admiral level combatants to watch me, and they are to knock me out and interrogate me if Dragon makes a big move.

I know that I can beat them quickly, but the question is; would I be able to kill them quick enough for others not to notice?

No, I cannot.

This is why I planted high-grade explosives all over Marineford during the times when my I'm not being watched.

Observation Haki's weakness is how it cannot sense inanimate objects, or things without intent, something I've solved with my unique Observation Haki.

So when I activate the explosives remotely, I will kill my watchers as fast as I could, then set off on my ship.

Then, I'll kill any and all of my pursuers.

Except for Instructor Zephyr.

I owe him a lot of things.

...

Dragon announced the creation of the Revolutionary Army and overthrew 5 Kingdoms under the World Government.

Now, my movements have been restricted to that of a Lieutenant, and others are hostile towards me.

I will make my escape now before my watchers are ordered to interrogate me.

But first, I left a letter for Instructor Zephyr.

A/N: Do you guys prefer Devil Fruits name in Japanese or English?
