The Training Ground

The adventurers guild had a training ground near the guild building. Adventurers from all backgrounds came here to train. Gojo and Grisella also went there to train occasionally.

Gojo had decided to try out weapons coated with cursed energy. At first he could not coat the weapons with energy. One day he came magic staff that was lying nearby the training ground. He tried to coat it with energy and he succeeded although the energy dissipated in a few minutes.

This meant that he could only coat magical weapons with energy. He had started to slowly improve his power to coat magical weapons.

One day he and Grisella went to the training ground to practice. That's when a group of five adventurers approached them. Judging by their looks they were a few years elder to them.

When the group stopped near them, the one who looked the most muscular and tall came forward and said " Hey you two, why are you two taking up all the important quests ? We are D rank as well and your seniors. Shouldn't you leave the important quests for us. "

" Well, it's not that we are taking all the important quests. Even after we take up our quests there are lots more left for you people to choose from. Then again as you know the early bird gets the worm. " said Gojo with a smile.

" How dare you smile at us ? Don't you have any manners ? We are your seniors by age. " said the adventurer.

" That is not our intention, we don't want any conflict with another adventurer party. So please leave us alone and let us train. " said Grisella.

" You .... " the other adventurer tried to say something but could not. He then stepped back and gestured the others to follow him. After sometime all five of them came back with training swords in their hands.

" Well how about we spar, you two seem pretty skilled adventurers from your words. You will get to know your place. " said the strongest adventurer among the five with a wide smile on his face.

" Okay, let's hope you don't regret it. " said Gojo as he picked up the magic staff he had chosen before. Grisella had also picked up a sword.

The fight began when the previous adventurer charged towards Gojo and struck at the stuff with his sword. Two other adventurers of the party joined him while two others went to deal with Grisella. They were pretty skilled.

Gojo started parrying all the strikes delivered by the three adventurers. However, he was pushed back with each hit. Soon he was cornered by the three adventurers.

" Looks like you would lose, do you mind surrendering. If you do we will let you off if you just sit on the ground in front of us and beg us to forgive you. " said one of the adventurers.

" Nah, that won't be necessary because in the end I would win. " saying this Gojo bent down and dodged there blows before getting behind them the next instant.

His opponents were astonished by this move at first but they soon turned back to face him. However they were a bit slow, as Gojo brought down the staff on one of them and knocked him to the ground. The others started attacking him aggressively.

Gojo then kicked one of them who fell to the ground. At last only the strongest adventurer among the five fought on with him. The adventurer tried to knock him down but he held his ground. Then Gojo lunged forward and grabbed his opponents arm in which he held the sword.

He then his opponent's head with the staff lightly. The adventurer tried to stand up but Gojo kicked him making him fall to the ground. He then looked around only to see Grisella standing after knocking out the two adventurers who attacked her.

" I guess it's finished. " said Gojo as he went towards Grisella.

" Please wait, let's have another round. This time we won't hold back. " said the last adventurer Gojo had knocked down. He and his friends had stood up.

" Fine by me, it's time for you people to get demolished again. " said Gojo.

They had another round, but the results were the results were same. By this time a crowd had formed in the training ground to watch them. Both Gojo and Grisella as well as the other adventurer party were summoned by the guild. A lot of adventurers were witness to their fight, so they were let go with a slight warning.

As things calmed down, Gojo and Grisella went to the guild to take up new quests. On the board they saw a major goblin extermination quest. However, Gojo asked Grisella to refrain from taking the quest. Rather they took up a quest to exterminate slimes.

Geradin being a big city had a large underground sewer. The sewer was cleaned once every year to avoid the spread of diseases. This time like all other times the workers came to clean the sewage. But as soon as they entered the sewers they saw a large number of slimes. The slimes started to spit out their slimy fluid at the workers hampering the cleaning. So the quest was put up to exterminate them.

Next day, Gojo and Grisella stood in front of an entrance to the sewer located at the northern east of the city. They had prepared properly to handle this quest. They wore a green cape over their clothes and covered their head with white clothe. Then they lighted their torches as they entered the sewer.

They soon started encountering the slimes. They advanced through the darkness fighting them.
