Inside The Sewer

The two of them advanced into the darkness of the sewer. They had put on scents on a piece of clothe and covered there nose and mouth but the stench still was awful. They had lighted torches in their hands which was a relief to them.

It was quite natural for slimes to inhabit sewers. However if the sewers became over populated by the slimes it did pose a problem since they attacked workers who would clean the sewers. This type of over population occurred once or twice a year. It was then slime extermination quests were arranged to reduce their population.

As Gojo and Grisella advanced they came across the slimes. At first it was one or two of them. But then more and more slimes started coming towards them. Gojo and Grisella stopped at that moment, they were surrounded on all sides by the slimes.

The slimes commenced their attack. They started spitting their slimy fluid at them.

" Grisella be careful, don't get hit by the slimy fluid on your face. It will be trouble

otherwise. " said Gojo. The slimy fluid was sticky in nature which did nothing if it touched someone's skin. The problem was if it somehow got into someone's eyes or nose. They could risk becoming blind or death by choking. There was no shortage of stories where adventurers choked to death from slimy fluid.

" Understood. " said Grisella as she started dodging the slimy fluid by moving her head. As for Gojo thanks to his infinity nothing happened.

Gojo used his lapse blue technique to catch a lot of slimes and then used his reverse red technique to blast them all. The only way to kill slimes was to strike at their core. It wasn't easy to kill slimes through physical attacks due to their asymmetric body but could be done through magical attacks. Fire could also be used to burn slimes. Another method to kill slimes was to immerse them in water. Grisella used her torch to burn the slimes and strike their cores if they became visible.

Both of them managed to kill hundreds of slimes as they cleared their path. At one point the slimes dispersed. Gojo started to look around and spotted some movement at a dark corner of the sewer. He the saw something glow with blue light and become dark again. The process continued several times. Upon closer inspection it turned out that it was a slime that was emitting the blue light at regular intervals.

This was quite a discovery, so Gojo ran at the bio luminescent slime so fast that it couldn't run away. Then he used a sack and a tin jar to capture the slime. Grisella objected to this as the slime was a monster after all so it could be dangerous to carry it around but Gojo was adamant and carried the slime with him.

Killing many more slimes they came to a junction. The junction was pretty huge with many entrances across it. The entire sewage of the city flowed into here. Gojo and Grisella started walking along the wall. The current of the sewage flow was very high over here.

Suddenly Gojo detected some movement a little far away from them. Something was moving through the sewage very fast and making it's way towards them.

" Grisella, get close to the wall. " said Gojo in a concerned voice.

" Why ? What is it now ? " asked Grisella.

" Just do it, I sense danger. " replied Gojo.

Suddenly the movement Gojo was detecting stopped near them. At first the water got agitated and then the sewage water splashed. Emerging through the sewage was a huge crocodilian. It was probably bigger that the monitors they encountered outside Derin village. The crocodilian moved towards them.

" Run. " said Gojo as he grabbed one of Grisella's hands and ran fast at one direction. The crocodilian followed them closely through the sewage.

They managed to get into one of the entrances of the sewer junction. Thankfully the entrance was narrow for the crocodilian to enter so it did not follow them there. Grisella heaved a sigh of relief. But Gojo had other plans. He wanted to slay the crocodilian.

" Hey Grisella, can you help me a bit ?" he asked.

" What help do you require now ?" asked Grisella.

" Well, I plan to hunt the crocodilian. So can you please help me. Of course it would me who will attract it towards me. You just need to hold my stuff when I hunt it. " said Gojo.

" No absolutely not, don't you understand how dangerous your plan sounds. This creature is too much for us to handle. Let's go back and report it to the guild. Let them handle it. " said Grisella.

" Fear not, I have confidence in my abilities. I will win this just like I did with the monitors outside Derin village. This time you can rely on my strength. Afterall I am the strongest. " said Gojo.

Grisella was not convinced, however she knew about Gojo's feats. He never took risks he could not handle. So reluctantly she held onto Gojo's stuff as he made his way back towards the junction.

He reached the junction and picked up a brick that was lying nearby and threw it in the sewage causing a loud splash. The crocodilian had taken notice of the splash and started moving towards the source. Gojo had also detected it's movements.

The crocodilian emerged from the water. It jumped out where Gojo was standing. Gojo avoided it by levitating to the other side. A large tail came out of the water as the lizard swiped it's thick tail towards him. He again avoided it by jumping over the tail. He then used reverse red to blow the tail apart. This caused a pool of blood to come out.

The crocodilian roared as it jumped towards the other side again missing Gojo who put a distance between them. He used reverse red twice to blow apart the jaws and a limb of the lizard. However the lizard wasn't defeated, it lunged towards him with it's bloody torn apart jaw hanging. This time Gojo did not waste his efforts. He used reverse red successively to behead the crocodilian as it's motionless body fell into the sewage and sank.

Inside Grisella waited for Gojo. She heard the sounds of battle followed loud splash. Soon the water turned red which freaked her out. Soon she heard footsteps approaching her. She shone her torch at the direction as she Gojo walking unchalantly towards her.

" You seem to be major risk taker. I hope you don't get yourself killed sooner. " said Grisella. She was releived to see Gojo.

" Fear not, because I am the strongest. Throughout the risks that I take and the battles that I fight, I alone am the tactician. " Gojo said to her.

" Anyway, what do we do now ?" Grisella asked and looked at him.

" Well, let's finish what we came here for. From the map we got from the guild, there should be an exit nearby. We will get out from there. " replied Gojo.

They followed the map that was provided to them and soon found the exit. They walked out of the exit and the sunlight hit them. It felt pretty refreshing. The stench was still there but at least they got out.

" Let's sit down and rest for a while. " said Gojo and he moved at one side of the exit and lay on the grass. Grisella followed him and lay down beside him. They would continue only after a little rest.
