Chapter 3: Silver Carp

" ... H-how... e-exact-lyy.. ?? " I asked in a trembling voice.

" What did you say? I can't hear what my lovely daughter is saying if she stutters while whispering to herself. " Isabella said while smirking.

' What is wrong with this another mother of mine?! How does she enjoy making her own daughter feel embarrassed like this! I know that she clearly heard it but she just wants me to repeat it again so that my father and mother could hear it! '

" What's wrong child? I can't answer you if you wouldn't tell me what your question is first though. " She added, clearly enjoying the situation that I am in.

" I was... wondering how does it work.. i mean for the... same gender to... uh.. have kids. " I finally asked looking down. I don't want to look at her satisfied reaction nor I want her to look at my face right now. I can't help myself but wonder how does it work since my previous life is so different from this world.

( " Pft! Host you are so funny! " )

' Ugh!! I didn't know you have your own emotions! Can you stop laughing at me?! Curiosity got the best of me okay?! ' I can't believe even the system is laughing at me as well. Though knowing it has its own emotion feels weird.

" Pftt! Fine. For being such an obedient daughter I will answer your question. Every living being in this world has mana... right? "

" Right. " I shortly replied.

" Anyone who makes love despite the gender would naturally activate their primal instincts making them release their own mana unconsciously, soon the two mana will start to blend with each other and as the two manas come together while they are- " My mother Isabella couldn't finish what she was saying because my mother Lucia interrupted her.

" Isabella stop teasing your own daughter! C-can't you see that her face is all red?! And why are you telling her all these?! She isn't meant to know that yet! She is just a child! " My mother Lucia said finally intervening.

" Pft! Now both you and my lovely Althea here are red as tomatoes. You both should see your faces! Pfft! " My mother Isabella said then burst into laughter.

Even my father who has been stiffed for a while now also followed and suddenly all of us are just laughing together. The thick heavy atmosphere from just a moment ago quickly vanishes like it never existed.

After some time, it was almost evening and the sky is starting to get darker. This is also the time my mother Isabella bid her farewell. My parents are starting to prepare for dinner and invited my mother Isabella to remain to have dinner with us but she gently refused the offer and just ask me to personally see her off.

When were already outside the main door of the house, my mother Isabella spoke.

" Althea, my Knights. " She casually said to me.

" Oof... Oh yeah. Sorry about that mother. I'll remove the bindings of Mind Imprisonment now. " I said as I began to concentrate to remove it. Once it's removed, we both heard loud screams. I laughed a bit at how terrified they sounded.

' I must've scared the living souls out of them. ' To scare such valiant knights to this extent sure is funny. Just thinking about how their faces may look made me giggle.

" It's not something to laugh about Althea. " My mother Isabella said sternly.

" I'm sorry. " I said looking down again.

" It's fine. Just don't act rashly anymore and know the situation first before jumping into conclusions. " She said with a smile while patting my head.

" Thank you mother for forgiving me. " I replied giving back the same kind of smile she gave me.

She seemed stunned for a moment then cough a little before bidding me goodbye. I gave her a warm hug before her Knights arrived with her carriage.

Once she has gotten inside the carriage, I then headed back inside the house to assist my parents on making dinner. I think my mother Isabella was going to say something important but forgot about it. ' Oh well. Atleast this day ended well. ' I thought then smiled warmly. This world sure is different from my previous one. Even if I only had lived for a few years, I'm already having so much fun. I wonder what lies ahead of me after this. There is just so many things I still yet to discover.

" I can't wait to find out! " I said full of excitement.

" Can't wait to find out what? Stop spacing out and let's have our dinner. " My father said. Oops! Didn't know I was thinking out loud.

" Yes father, coming! " I said cheerfully as I went to him and hug him hr.

" My daughter is much more happier today. Is it because your mother tried a different dish with the Faldo Bird? " He asked laughing softly as he pat my head.

' I love my family '

Four years have passed and I am now 12 years old and my level soar up to level 15 as well. This happened because I am now hunting deeper and deeper into the forest where I would encounter different kinds of mana beasts.

If you read in the City Library, they will just simply define it as a beast who has more mana than an ordinary beast and utilizes it to use some skills. Sounds simple and easy to handle right? But once you encounter one, your views will change cause you will be able to see that it isn't as simple as written in the books.

For me, a mana beast is an evolved version that looks entirely different from normal beasts. It is also more agile and the fact that it can use skills makes it more dangerous.

I'm saying this cause I once encountered a pack of direwolves which were about a size of ponies and some are even larger which is twice the size of large hounds. Not to mention their lighting skills which is a pain to handle but enough of that, because today I'm thinking of catching some Silver Carp to eat!

I researched about it when I suddenly encountered it while I'm swimming deeper in the lake. Of course I can't just randomly catch a mana beast for food without knowing if it's safe to eat so I simply avoided it and swam back up. But now that I know that it is safe to eat, I will definitely catch it so me and my parents can have a feast later.

I peeled off my clothing only allowing my undergarments to remain as I ready myself to dive into the lake. This lake is twice larger than the lakes of my previous life, maybe it's also the reason why such large fish like the Silver Carp which lengths up to 15 feet with the weight of almost 1,500 pounds can be found in here.

As I dive deeper and deeper into the lake, I released a bit of my mana to attract the attention of one of the Silver Carps. And soon enough, I noticed some fast movements drawing closer and closer to my position.

It swam faster to me opening its large mouth revealing it's sharp teeth which I'm sure if I let it bite me it will surely take a chunk of flesh off of me. It tried to aim its bite at my neck but I punch its jaw and use magical burst to push back the Carp. I find it hard to dodge since I'm deep into the water which makes me less agile so I can only face its attacks head on.

Sensing that normal attacks won't work on me, the Silver Carp started to use it's skill then a sudden waves of sonic energy that are expanding at a rapid phase came out of its mouth. Increasing the amount of pressure one sonic wave after the other.

( " Warning! A skill that might endanger the host's safety is being emitted! I suggest the host to act quickly! " )

' This is getting dangerous, I have to act quickly before its attack reached me! '

I started to gather large amounts of mana rapidly on the palm of my hands. Concentrating it until it produces a small ball of a size of a copper coin then releases it towards the Silver Carp.

( " Ding! The host has learned the skill Mystic Blast! " )

Great shock waves of pure magical force is released that once hit the Silver Carp the force of the attack knock it back causing great damage to it.

Once the effect of the impact subsided, I was able to see the great deal of damage it has inflicted on to the Silver Carp. The water that is surrounding near it is somehow bubbling.

' Did I just fry it while underwater? '

( " Ding! You have leveled up! " )

( " Ding! You have leveled up! " )

' Is it just me or the notification appeared twice? '

( " The system congrats the host for jumping to two levels and is now level 17! " )

" Awesome! I leveled up twice by defeating this Silver Carp! " I said totally forgetting that I'm still underwater as the air that I have been preserving got released.

' Ugh! I need to get to the surface quickly or else I'll drown myself! '

Once I reached the surfaced I started panting heavily because I almost drowned myself. After enough rest, I then pulled the huge Silver Carp out of the water the throw it on the side of the lake then starts to swim back to the location where I left my clothes.

After putting back my clothes on, I started walking back to the house while carrying the huge Silver Carp on my back.

" Fish! Fish! Fish! " I sang happily as I walk.

Once I got back at the house I saw a carriage parked near the house with the Knights but this time they are fewer unlike before.

' Is my mother Isabella visiting us again? ' I wonder.

" Althea you are here. W-what is that huge fish you are carrying?! " My mother Lucia asked quite shocked at how huge it is.

The Knights were stunned as well since a child like me which looks so frail is capable of hunting and carrying such a huge and heavy fish.

After eating our lunch with the Knights, they told my parents the reason they have come to visit.

" The Duchess needs Lady Althea in the capital. " The head of the Knights said with seriousness to his tone.
