Reincarnation of a Failed Author: I Hate Clichés

"I hate clichés," I mutter under my breath, frustration etching lines on my face as I stare at yet another overused plot blowing up on the website of the novel I'm publishing. It's a constant cycle of disappointment for me, with no viewers, no readers, and certainly no feedback. In other words, I'm a failed author, stuck in a rut of uninspired storytelling. I can't quite recall when my disdain for cliché tropes first took root, but one thing is for certain— I found myself reincarnated into another world after an unfortunate encounter with a truck. Typical, right? I die in a cliché manner and end up in a whole new reality. "Damn it, I had to go and die in a cliché way too!" I grumble, shaking my head at the irony of it all. But this time, I have a new name, a new body, and even magical powers to boot. I'm now known as Helis, and this is my chance at a fresh start. After hearing the name of the world I had reincarnated into, Crisyes, I realized it was the world of the novel I had only written the concept about. It seems I've been thrust into the world that is on its last living decades. The details elude me, but I'm certain of one thing—this world is on a collision course with chaos. What I didn't anticipate, however, were the lingering threads of my previous life, the invisible connections that bind me to Earth. These mysterious [Story] strings will come back to haunt me, weaving a web of uncertainty and challenges that I'll have to navigate sooner or later. I may despise clichés, but little did I know that I would become entangled in a story far beyond my control. It's a tale where my past and present collide, and only time will reveal the true extent of its consequences. ------Notice------ THE STORY WILL TAKE TIME TO BUILD! Yes, it will start as a normal reincarnation story with cliché elements and cringe events, but the energy will shift at the last chapter of the first volume. The story will focus more on the development of the characters and world-building, not just, "Wow, found a golden cup which I'll drink from and become immortal." No, I will make it as realistic as possible, especially the characters. Oh, and the mc has a knack to trigger cliché events, that's one of the reasons he hates them. If you care about horny chapters, they do happen but later on when the time is right. That's it here, please support me through this journey, and most importantly: Enjoy!

Magic Development, I

"Kgha!" Luke fell face-first on the ground after receiving a punch of mine.

Right now, I'm training with him to get rid of the habit of pulling back that he has, because that way, everyone can get a hold of his weakness right away.

I'm training not just him, but Selica and Sean hand-to-hand combat and how to improve on the whole mana aspect.

"Sean, I don't know for what reason you're keeping your magic potential a secret from us, but you've got to work on managing your spells, they seep out of your control very easily," I spoke with a tough voice, trying to sound like the officers from the army that drill their workouts within you.

We've been proceeding with school lessons all the same in the past two weeks since we've begun training.

"It's been two weeks already? Damn, time really flies when you have company."

I always felt like I was going insane during the time I was alone and didn't know what to do, in other words, after training. Well, that's in the past now, thank god I passed this period of time.

Okay, okay, you're all asking how did I stay alone for sixteen years and stuff… C'mon? I had my family members and I never left home besides going to the forest to hunt for beasts and staying in the backyard of the mansion Dad had bought.

Besides that, when there were gatherings of people whom my father knew, I also attended them. I just didn't pay any mind to all of the people there.

I didn't just sit still, though, considering I tried to make whatever big shots visited my father to have a positive opinion of me.

So? Was I a useless shut-in in this life too?

No, treats you right! You were expecting I was the same fool from Earth.

I changed my body, my name, my face, and my family. Why wouldn't I change my ways too?

Well, the only thing different from my past life is that I have more confidence and strength here.

I make moves on Selica from time to time only to make it out as a joke of mine, and I've earned Sean's, Luke's, and every other classmate's respect.

It's not that they all know I'm OP, I'm playing the average-guy act for now.

Well, besides that, there isn't anything new– wait, there is!

So, I've assessed Selica's and Luke's strong and weak points.

Selica can use healing and ice magic. Weirdly, she is using a halfling form of a Transcendental Spell as a normal affinity of hers, which should be impossible under normal circumstances.

Luke is on the same potential as Selica, a Knight-Potential, and is pretty efficient at using flame magic.

Like, not just pretty efficient, he's quite good at it honestly… That's what she said, bwahaha!

Ahem, I'm being drawn to other topics again and again.

But what about Sean? You may be asking with tears in your eyes.

Sean, also known as the Brainiac Sean is a timid guy who has the top academic scores of our whole academy shift right now. Considering there are many students, the shifts are separated in two to be able to hold all the classes, a morning shift, and an afternoon shift.

We are on the afternoon shift currently.

Again, back on track to Sean, he didn't tell me his magic potential, but I fear it isn't very high, considering he's quite lacking in both the casting and augmenting aspects.

Luke is a caster whom I'm training to also be able to fight close range, same for Selica, but Sean… I'm in a tough spot.

I fear that he understands the concept of my explanations, but he just can't move his body how he envisions it to.

And so, "Sean, you will be having a much rougher training regime than Selica and Luke." I declared with crossed arms.

"Eh…" He let out a prolonged blow.

"I can see that you know the concept, but your body's not quick enough to react to your thoughts, and because of that, sometimes it feels like your body and brain just blanked all-together, doesn't it?"

"Oh, that's exactly it…"

"Now, you will have to run ten kilometers, do one hundred pushups, and one hundred pull-ups daily."

"Uwah…" Selica yelped after hearing my words, just thinking about it, it makes you feel like you're going to go through a living hell.

"It's okay, I'll do it."

"Just don't die from exhaustion, okay? I don't want a dead body on me this early on." I waved my hand.

"Of course," He bowed, "Thank you so much for everything, I will continue counting on you from now on too."

"Quit it with the formalities." I made a disgusted expression, trying to sound more casual.

I'm just trying to make him feel comfortable with us three.

He seems to have gone through tough times because of society.

Well, everything seemed to be going alright until Sean heard that the guy who used to bully him was Luke's lackey.

Ever since he heard, Sean never looked at Luke as a friend, he only had a cold look in his eyes and an off-putting voice whenever he talked to him.

And so, today, surprisingly, Luke had decided to become a man and decided to apologize, "Sean… On behalf of the people I used to stay with, I seek your forgiveness. You had no reason to be bullied, and yet I didn't say anything to them about this topic. Honestly… I didn't even know that you are Sean Dayward himself and that you were being bullied at all. 'Cause, as you know, we are of different classes."

Damn, he's really rambling on and on.

Sean glared at him, making Luke breathe a gust of air nervously, "..."

Sean didn't say anything.

"Please, forgive me and become my friend." Luke bowed and stretched out his hand towards Sean.

"Tch… As fellow disciples under Helis… I'll accept your apology– Gha!?"

"Luke, what did you do!?" I howled, making my way instantly to them.

Who knows, Luke may still have something against Sean.

"What? Huh, I did nothing?" Luke was lost for words.

Sean was still standing, holding his nape.

Wait, his nape?

I quickly brushed Sean's fluffy dark-blue hair off his neck, there, was a rune with protruding curved lines from a vertical rectangle with seven emerald-colored crystals at its center, with complicated scriptures that were drawn on top and under the branches.

Again, it was just a rune, like a tattoo.

But this assured me that Sean was like something I hadn't seen before.

A Peculiar-Potential mage.

Damn, another cliffhanger? a small twist? Well, I just hope it incited you to read more of my story.

I hope you've been enjoying it so far, and please, keep supporting me :)!
