System!

One of the worse scenario that even a Demon King wants to avoid is being stuck with a kid who's complaining endlessly...

"Why don't we just go back? Too many mosquitoes. Hurry up, you two! "

"And besides, why did you come with us? You know that it won't be a little picnic right? "

"Well sorry mister, but I was ordered, and even I can't complain. "

"Then bear with it. "

"I have no choice, Dunghead! "

Seriously, kids are troublesome. Despite not doing anything to help us gather firewoods she kept on complaining over and over again. With that, Reg approach her , his hand full of woods.

"Anyway, why did Mrs. Bottomham sent you here? There must be a reason. " Reg asked her.

Hearing that, I grinned from ear to ear.

"Detention? "

Faint red crossed her face. She put on a smile while saying, "Let's gather firewoods!"

(Alas! The 'change the topic' escape method.)

Her change of expression was fast for a teenager.

Leaving that aside, I gather my own thoughts.

Garth Heather Vandell wasn't an infamous name, I've heard about him from various stories before. And it seems like he was always the villain, the lunatic who wants to be the king of the Four Empires. He kills for fun and has domination as a hobby. Because of those tales, it seems like Garth was still a frightening existence even if he's dead, although he's still alive.

From those tales, there's only one mage who succeeded in defeating him, the Empress of the Rosegalle Empire, Stella.

A woman, or rather... a girl. My thoughts lingered for a moment to the blurry image of a girl in the battlefield.

I was taken back into reality when I heard a voice screaming. Rios!

Rios was suspended in mid-air and Reg was left speechless and wide-eyed. A figure was standing over them, holding Rios with it's gigantic paws. It was 11 feet in height, his gargantuan body broke the surrounding trees. He had a scar on his body and his eyes was bloodshot. With his domineering aura, a mage with meager skills would be left stumbling over, running for dear life --- he was, no doubt the Killer bear.

With his red eyes, he stared at the girl on his paws, Rios shuddered, then to the boy on the ground, Reg was still dumbfounded and was shaken by the sudden attack. And then at last, to me; I flinched, his aura is still quite frightening for a frail body like mine.

The firewoods that were scattered on the ground was crushed into pieces as he took a step towards me. He released Rios, and she fell like a rag to the ground with a thud.

"It seems like you've chosen."

Reg, who was able to pull himself together after the shock got to his feet, his knees was undeniably shakey. With a trembling lips he spoke, "W-What are you saying?"

"He chose me."

The Killer Bears were a very vicious animals, his title as the murderer of the forest wasn't just for nothing. With it's huge body, I can't deny that I might get killed in the process. On the other hand, Killer Bears has a very unique way of choosing his prey, he chooses who was the strongest among the group and let's just say--he kills them first.

Reg was dumbfounded for a moment then once again spoke, "Then while his at it, I'll divert his attention ---"

"No need, take Rios with you. "

I said, not even daring to divert my eyes from the Killer Bear.

"He was after me. "

"Nonsense. "

"Please leave. "

Reg was still reluctant, he stared at me for a while. For a moment, I started appreciating his loyalty to a friend. If I were my past human self, I would have run into a panic. Such a young age.

"Rios is not in a good state, Reg. "

He then look at Rios who was unconscious after the shock.

"Fine, then. Let's meet again in the orphanage."

I can't see his face, but he lifted Rios then started to run towards the entrance of the forest. The Killer Bear was angered when his two preys got away from him. He started running after them but then I diverted his attention by throwing him firewoods.

"Isn't it I you were after? Dimwit? "

My provocation made him more enraged. With that, I ran head over heels deep into the forest. Not because I selflessly announced that I would distract the murderer doesn't mean I would let myself get killed. Not now I was able to get my second life.

As expected, there were even more trees deep inside the forest and due to his huge body, he ended up getting entangled with all those trees and branches, thus giving me more time to get away from him.

Along the way, I got stumbled down into the ground many times but then my pace was still faster compared to the Killer Bear.

"System! SYSTEM! "

My helplessness made me think of that weird idea, but then no windows or mechanical voice appeared. I was a fool for thinking that I had a system---

[What is it?]

"…"

With a "poof" a black haired woman appeared out of god knows where. She wore a white armored dress with a smile plastered on her face. She was floating on air, her skirts flattering with the wind.

[Sorry host, I was kinda late~ tehee]

(What's with that 'tehee'?)

[Due to my irresponsible actions, I shall give you a compensation package later...]

Pathetic. What's with this? So I really have a system!

[The Soul Syncing took too long due to some circumstances. Then shall we proceed with the Starter Pack?]

With that, she took a wooden box the size of a small trunk with a "?" at the surface.

[It needs the host's verification. ]

"Please open it now. "

With a nod, she opened the wooden box.

Steel Sword *1

Adventurer Suit *1

Bag *1 (0/10)

"…"

The Heck? I was fooled to expect much from the system.

Steel sword wouldn't make any damage to the Killer Bear's skin, his skin was as hard as an iron. The adventurer suit would only withstand one hit from the Bear's paws, and then I would only be thrown like a rag doll. The only useful thing I had right now is the Bag which can't be used in battle.

…to make the story short, I had Zero.

[Don't be miserable host, the System won't let you die... not yet.]

"Not yet? "

[You still haven't open the compensation pack!]

"Right. Open it. "

Compared to the latter, the wooden box is ornamented with rubies. It released a faint light.

Shadow Bind Spell book *1

Much better, however it was still unknown if I had the mana to create magic.

"How do I learn magic? "

[Of course, having a system made you a very heaven blessed person, as such, you would be able to learn magic faster than a regular mage!]

She seems very interested in magic that she explained it enthusiastically.

[However, judging by your situation, you would end up being his meal first before being able to master it.]

She said with a cheerful demeanor while pointing at the bear who's still struggling from the overgrown trees' grasps. With those words she disappeared with a poof.

"F*ck! How can you say such things when I am in such trouble?"

While cursing the system, I put on the suit and the fragile steel sword. "Can't help it. "

With my frail body, of course I won't be able to handle him. So of course, I have to proceed to plan B: Run.

Retarded System! You'll even let me die in the middle of the forest?!

It was fun, the real story will start next chapter!
