The sound of bone cracking and a grown man screaming in pain suddenly resounded in the ruins beside the well.

"Careful! You're breaking my ribs!" Yun Feng yelled, half scared and astonished at the same time, as he looked at Yun Mei.

Ever since his encounter in the Blue Valley Forest, his body had reached a level of toughness that outclassed every other mortal and even scratched the realm of the Red Lotus Deities.

Yun Feng even had a feeling that no mortal weapon, no matter how finely made or how sharp its edges were, could leave a dent on him.

Yet Yun Mei, his ten-year-old frail-looking daughter, was able to bring him harm simply by hugging him! It was as if the strength of several large bulls was packed inside her small body. Unbelievable, and damn, it hurt.

"Hehe, sorry about that, single daddy...but that's what you get for abandoning us girls for so long, hmph," Yun Mei apologized before letting go. But judging from the bright smile coloring her smug face and the pure ridicule in her tone, it was obvious she felt no qualms. Instead, she was very much excited.

Days spent inside that lonely, dark well had a way of messing with one's mind. Even someone as lively as her found herself slowly losing hope as she spent more time there. Watching scary, old death slowly taking away the terrified kids that were brought into the well with them dealt a mighty blow on her emotions.

Her usually bright eyes had dimmed as the uncertainty of her and Yun Fei's future became all that was certain. Most especially, the fear that her dad had left them and would never return was becoming a reality that broke her.

Luckily, Yun Feng had finally found his way back after what she could imagine was a treacherous journey, keeping his word. This brought her so much joy that she quickly reverted to her factory settings and all her suppressed feeling could now find an outlet as she started teasing her helpless father with her amazing upgrade.

"You won't say anything after nearly breaking all my ribs," Yun Feng sighed. With a glance at her face, he could see a peculiar tattoo, or should I say token, etched on the left side of her face. It looked like a red lotus, and on top of the lotus was a creature that looked like a mythosaur from folklore in his past life.

The patterns were a mesmerizing blend of delicate lines and bold symbols, each one seemingly telling a story of its own.

A story Yun Feng would be willing to die trying to know.

Yun Feng could feel a sense of pressure coming from that mythosaur. Although the pressure wasn't as nerve-racking as the unbearable pressure he felt from monsters earlier, the intensity of the presence of that mythosaur on Yun Mei's forehead was very much real and nothing to scoff at.

"It's just a few ribs, hehhehe. Breaking one or two wouldn't be too much, would it?" Yun Mei was weirdly excited, giggling from ear to ear as she spoke.

"Yun Fei, tell me what's exactly going on." Seeing her acting smug and tight-lipped, Yun Feng didn't bother Yun Mei anymore but instead turned to Yun Fei with a curious look.

"I'm not so sure how it happened, Dad, but if I had to make a guess, we awakened something special within us when we nearly died moments before Gramps and Nana threw us into that well."

Yun Fei was still a ten-year-old girl after all. No matter how much Yun Fei tried to act mature, she couldn't escape the fact that she was just a child.

The memories of the brutal scenes she had witnessed still haunted her, and the look of despair on the village chief and his wife's faces as their limbs were severed replayed in her mind, sending chills down her spine.

Seeing the pain on Yun Fei's face as she tried to recollect what had happened, Yun Feng chose not to press her any further. All that mattered was their safety, and the fact that they had gained incredible abilities was astounding. Wait, had Mei Mei also gained powers?

"Yun Fei, have you awakened any abilities?" Yun Feng asked, his eyes intently scrutinizing her, as if trying to decipher every detail.

Yun Mei didn't say a word. Instead, she raised her left palm, and with a single thought, a snowflake appeared. Though tiny, the aura it emitted caused the air around her palm to drop significantly, as if an icy goddess had descended upon the world.

As soon as the snowflake appeared, Yun Feng saw Yun Fei's forehead glow, and a red lotus with a creature that seemed to shift and dance atop of it appeared. The design was alive, imbued with heavenly energy, and held an air of mystery and power that left Yun Feng curious about the stories and traditions behind it..

But one thing was certain - both tattoos were far from ordinary, even for deities.

"Wonderful! You can control ice," Yun Feng exclaimed with a smile, feeling the cold on his skin. He was secretly surprised that the coldness affected him as well. What sort of monsters were his daughters? He had left them for only two weeks, yet they had become powerful enough to protect their father.

Yun Feng couldn't help but think that the world was running in reverse.

Even those who had become deities earlier couldn't compare to his talented daughters. It would have been one thing if only Yun Fei had gained powers, as she was usually level-headed. But now, with both of his daughters possessing such strength, things were about to get...interesting.

Yun Feng facepalmed at the thought of Yun Mei teasing him now and then. With her immense strength, he could already foresee himself losing a bone or two.

Despite this, their awakening was good news,

Even though he was not a cultivator, Yun Feng was sure that both his daughters were as strong as red lotus deities, with their powers augmenting their already impressive strength. as for how they were able to awaken such powerful marks despite Yun Fengs poor talent was all because of strong DNA all this talent had to do with her mother's side of the family.

Cause he Yun Feng had no good DNA, all he had was badluck and even more badluck coursing through his veins .

"Hehe, what are you thinking about? Have you given up on life?" Yun Mei chuckled, seeing her father facepalm himself. It was obvious that he was disappointed in himself and amazed by her abilities. She couldn't wait to use her strength to make him go see a lady.

If Yun Feng knew her thoughts, he would have shouted, "I knew it! She's up to no good."

"What nonsense are you spouting, kiddo? I'm just wondering what I should do now that my two little girls have grown up and even awakened abilities," Yun Feng smiled, his teeth sparkling white and threatening to outshine the stars.

"What's there to think about? Nothing, I'd say, since those girls would be going with me," Yun Mei started to reply, but then, suddenly, a cold laughter erupted from a dark corner.

"Who's there?!" Yun Feng quickly switched to high alert mode, turning to look at the direction the voice had come from. his hands quickly bringing Yun Mei and Yun Fei behind him as soon as he did his heart sank!!

Yun Fei was gone from beside him!
