Not a Hero but an Avenger

"Void Walkers, this is not your place. We won't let you enter our domain." A man wearing golden armor and riding a Pegasus spoke. His eyes were on strange shadowy figures that looked like ghosts.

"Jie-Jie-Jie! Is that so? Unfortunately, your domain will become our food soon enough. We have been hungry for too long."

Suddenly, the ghost opened his mouth and took a bite of the space. Yes, the literal space was being eaten by him. And, when the space disappeared, the void appeared.

Several men wearing golden armor released a golden barrier to seal the power of the void. The man in the middle came out of his pegasus and his hands released the golden flames.

"Void Walkers, I am going to take you down right now, right here."

The man charged toward them. Dozens of ghosts moved toward him while biting and chewing the parts of the universe.

Alex was watching all of it. There were nearly millions of soldiers wearing the golden armor but not even hundreds of them could stack up against a single ghost.

Except for that man at the front, nobody was truly winning against those ghosts. He looked at the massacre of millions of soldiers and only one person remained.

"Celestial Sun, you can't defeat us. Jie! Jie! Jie! After killing all of you, the defense of your domain has fallen. Be glad that you are getting eaten by the Void Walker."

The main ghost walked toward that man who had fallen to his knees and opened his mouth but at this moment, the body of that man slowly started drying.

Seeing this, the ghost retreated immediately.

"Void Walkers, I won't let you eat my domain."

The man released all of the blood out of his body. Each drop of the blood was burning like the sun itself. The blood combined and formed a giant drop of blood that was equivalent to the power of million suns.

The intensity of the sun was so hot that it started burning those ghosts.

"Curse you, Celestial Sun! Curse you!"

"We will return! Once your sun dies, we will return to devour your domain."

But, the man has already died. He was like a log. His body remained like that for millions of years and until a certain event occurred.

The body that was supposed to remain like a log forever was slowly starting to crumble. This made the entire domain tremble. Many people who remained after the Great War against the Void Walkers arrived.

They all looked at the corpse that slowly crumbling and started a discussion.

"What should we do? We can't let his corpse crumble like this. He is the sole reason why we survived."

"But, we can't stop it either. There is nothing we can do about this."

"No, we must do something."

"But, what can we truly do?"

"Let's use the Ring of Chaos."

"Are you mad? Using the Ring of Chaos to hold his body will reset the entire domain."

"So what? We are already weak. Once his body disappears, the power of the sun will also weaken. Once those void walkers arrive, we will die for sure."

"But if we use Ring of Chaos, we will lose everything that we have attained."

"Is it any better than losing the entire domain?"

"No... But, I can't agree. Let's vote with the majority. If we use the Ring of Chaos, the entire mana of our domain will be consumed by the ring and the domain will reset everything. How is this going to help anyway?"

"We can use the Ring of Chaos to change his body into a core that someone will one day inherit. Once that person inherits the core, he will inherit all of the abilities and talent of this man."

"It won't be that simple. What are the chances that he will succeed?"

"No! This time he will succeed. Unlike before when he only activated his talent after hundreds of thousands of years, we can help him activate his talent from the start, giving him more time to grow."

"Let's face this straight. We only have a few million years till the sun disappears and Void Walker's invasion. Without this man, no one in this world can stop them."

"So, I suggest we bet everything on him."

"Betting everything on him wouldn't be a bad choice but we need to take some measures. We must make sure that he will awaken his talent. We also need to create something to guide his path."

"I agree. If someone is going to inherit the talent of the Celestial Sun, he must be someone with a righteous and kind heart just like Celestial Sun. He must be someone to save the world."

"In that case, we really need Ring of Chaos since it is the only ring that can truly read someone's true intention. We can make the ring a key to unlock that talent and without the authorization of the key, that talent will never be awakened."

Alright then! As for the measures, I have a perfect idea for that. I have been working on it for a long time. If we are going to bet everyone on him, this might really work."

"But, I would need all of your support. Only then, I can complete it and transfer it to his soul."

"Then, do we all agree?"

"Yes!"

At this moment, hundreds of old men and women nodded their heads with pure intention. They all looked at the corpse that was slowly crumbling and used their powers to transform the corpse into a core.

Slowly, the illusions around Alex disappeared. He looked at the man in front of him with shock on his face.

"Yes, you were the one who inherited the core in your first life. But since you didn't get the key before your death, I helped you reincarnate into another body."

"But, you died again. Fortunately, this time you had obtained the key and also got acknowledgment from the key. Now, Alex, you should know your responsibility."

"Life of the entire domain rests on your shoulders! You are not a Celestial Sun but you are chosen by the ring which means you don't have any impure intention."

"You fought the evil to help the righteous. Sometimes people think that evil isn't bad because you are following your heart. But, they tend to forget just how many lives they are taking."

"Yes, there might be hypocrites on the righteous path but at least, they don't take the numbers of lives like evil. Of course, you have to take the life of others. This is why Ring of Chaos chose you."

"You only took the lives of those who betrayed you, who touched your bottom line, and who are true incarnations of evil."

At this moment, a list appeared in front of him. It recorded every person who died in his hand. There were a lot of people in it but he knew none of these were innocents. Most of them had slaughtered the towns filled with innocent people.

He doesn't care if one wants to get stronger but why do you need to disturb other's life? He didn't choose the path of righteousness. he simply compared his own life with the life of those innocent people.

Would he stay silent if his son was killed? Would he stay silent if his wife was assaulted? Would he stay silent if his entire town was slaughtered?

No! There was no way he would stay silent. This is why he killed those evil people. It's not because he wanted to be a hero but rather because he knew if he was just like them, he would've lost someone.

And, that's what makes him righteous. Not his attitude towards saving weak people. He wasn't a protector. He was more of an Avenger. And, that's what he wanted to be. He didn't want to be the hero of justice.

He wanted to become an Avenger.

"You never killed a person who doesn't deserve death. You never used scheming against innocent people. And, you always care about the people around you."

"These are the things that tapped into the Ring of Chaos, allowing you to activate it. Now, you have fully accessed the key which means 'that' will also get activated inside you."

"Now, I am going to send you into another reincarnation but remember, this might be your last chance. So, please, don't die!"
