Chapter 37: The Vampire Prince 2

My full name is Crixus Von Avare.

I am from the great Avare family of Vampires which controls so many worlds and realms.

Our planet is shrouded by a veil that prevents any light to pass on. Why?

As we are Vampires, we are generally weak to sunlight. But, of course, there are exceptions.

Those who have royal blood do not suffer from sunlight or any other light source. So, I, as the Vampire prince, do not fear the light!

Secondly, there are artifacts like rings that can give resistance to it. The problem is that it is very hard to make and so it's costly. Also, there is a time limit on how much it can give resistance.

Thirdly, some people have got blessings from our Vampire ancestors. Those are also immune to the light.

About why did I come here?

I was sent by my father to look into the affairs of this world and think if it possesses any harm to our world.

As my bodyguards were just to make sure that I don't die here. You know, the life of a prince is much more valuable as they carry the royal bloodline forward…

I was sent in a secret operation. So, no one knew about my arrival except the chosen ones. The people who knew the existence of Vampires. The old noble families.

Even the current king isn't notified of my arrival. But, the ancestor of this world's royal family knows about it. He was the one who said not to tell the current king as he was a brain head.

The king would mindlessly wage a war against the vampire world, holding me as a hostage to conquer it. This would result in the extinction of this world!

*Sigh* Petty politics and supremacy!

When I said about the extinction of this world, it wasn't a crude joke but a harsh truth.

Our twenty percent of troops is necessary to wage a war and win it easily. We, the Vampires, have more physical prowess than humans and hence one of us is comparable to ten of you!

We as always, don't like wars until it's the last choice.

In myths, we were said to be mindless creatures who fed on human blood, killing them for the sake of entertainment and food. But, we aren't like that.

Of course, once we were. But, all that has changed and we decided to disengage ourselves from the outside world and live a life peacefully!

And that's the way we are in the shadows not coming out.

As for why did we first decide to seclude ourselves, it is something even I don't know. The story is only known by selected noble houses of my world and yours. Also, my father knows that.

From what I have heard from rumors, it was a war that led to this. When the war escalated, Gods stepped in and made peace. For peacekeeping, they had to kill some of the forces of both sides and show their might. That's how the Gods become a fearful group!

I don't know any more than this about why did we seclude ourselves. I hope I will know more about it!
