Eventually, we arrived home, and since we arrived in an unfamiliar car, everyone, pulled out their guns, while the kids hid.
Once they saw that we're the ones getting out of the car, they lowered their guns and sighed in relief.
"Hey, Andrea! Check what I found for ya!" I say with a mischievous smile.
"What?" She asked curiously when she saw my smile.
I lean into the car, to pick up Amy in princess carry, and got her out of the car.
By the way, back on our way home, we checked her for bites, and there were none. And if there was one on her body, she would be bloody, and if she had been bitten for a while now, then she would be sweating profusely and be pale as hell.
Once Andrea saw Amy in my arms, she broke down crying in happiness. She ran to her and hugged her, causing the girl to wake up.
She kept thanking us, but we told her that it was all just by chance, but she didn't listen, and promised us that she'll do anything we ask of her. Kinda dumb thing to say, but we are mature men, so we won't say anything degenerate, especially in such a special moment.
Andrea took Amy back to her room, and I'm guessing they are catching up.
Me on the other hand, I looked around for Carley.
"Looking for your wife and kid?" Katja asked teasingly, which kind of made me blush. I know, I know, cringey, but come on, give me a break.
Oh, and they asked about my face, and told them the story, if you're curious. No one had a big reaction, so I don't bother telling y'all the conversations. It just went like, "What's with your face?" And I answered like, "I fought, and I won."
"Yes, Katja. Have you seen them?" I asked her.
"Haha! So you're not denying anything?"
"Haha...why would I? I mean, we obviously not married...yet, but you know." I said with a smile.
We laughed for a while before she answered. "They're in your room. They are playing a board game with Clem." Then she sighed. "I told Duck to play too, but he said he doesn't want to play with so many girls."
Hearing this, I chuckled. "Yeah, I mean, I was like that too. I grew up with 4 sisters, so..." I said with a shrug.
We talked for a while before I headed to my room.
I opened the door, and saw that they excitedly played. I saw that Maya was excited too, but it wasn't noticable. Tho maybe Carley saw it as she smiled at Maya as she was rocking back and forth on her knees, waiting for her turn astir.
They looked behind them when they realized that I'm watching them, and they instantly gasped seeing my fucked up face.
Before Clem or Carley could do or say anything, Maya ran up to me.
She hugged me. "I'm glad...y-you're back..." she said as she hugged me tightly.
Then Clem hugged me too. "Mee too." She said as her voice was muffled because her face was stuffed into my stomach.
When they released me, I greeted Carley. "Hello, babe." I said with a smile.
"Welcome back." She said. She awkwardly stepped forward, and hugged me.
I held in my chuckle at her awkwardness, and hugged her back tightly. Then she whispered in my ear. "They heard us yesterday.
I finally couldn't hold it and laughed. "Of course they did. You were really loud. I even warned you, and you said, and I quote, "I DON'T CARE!!!"".
She let me go and punched my shoulder.
"Anyway...what happened to your face." She said with a bit of worry in her eyes.
"I got ambushed, and almost beaten." I said with a shrug, tryna act like I don't care.
"Did you win tho?" She asked with a smirk.
"Of course I did. Who do you think I am?" I asked, acting offended.
We laugh for a while, while the kids look a bit confused. I guess they don't really understand our jokes. Not like they need to.
We play around with the board game for a while until it was time for lunch.
For lunch we ate rabbits that have been caught in my traps; Andrea picked them up from the forest while we were away; and next to the rabbit, we had some peaches.
Maya finally came out of the room today after I pursued her to, and ate next to me. Carley was sitting next to me as well, while we got knowing smirks by the others except for the kids, Lily and Larry.
After done eating, I went back to our room with Maya, as I wanted to show her what I found for her; the blue jacket that was still in pretty good condition.
As I thought it was big on the shoulder and sleeve part, but it was still good for her.
And I knew that she liked it as I could see the sparks in her eyes. She thanked me shyly; hugging me and even gave me a peck, which was accidentally on the lips, but who cares? She's just the kid. And she didn't even notice. She's too caught up with the jacket.
At this time Carley walked into the room, and a smile formed on her face. "And you didn't get anything for me?"
"Yesterday you got more than enough" I said with a knowing smile, which caused Carley to blush a bit. She looked away before looking back at me.
Carley sat down on my armchair. She watched my interaction with Maya before saying, "You're really good with her, you know?" she remarked softly.
"Think so?" I asked her.
"Yes."
"I-" before I could say anything, I hear a loud yawn from Maya.
"Looks like she needs her afternoon nap." Carley says with a smile. "Let's talk after she falls asleep."
"Alright, baby."
Carley leaves the room, and I look back at Maya.
"Alright now, Honey. Time for a nap." I say as I pick her up and playfully throw her on the bed.
A giggle comes out of her mouth which surprises me, but I don't mention it.
I tuck her in, and after rubbing her back for a few minutes, she falls asleep.
