59 Ch.59

After the wedding and the reception, Alex got drunk, however, I was only buzzed. So the next morning I helped her grab her things before we went to the airport. After more than twelve hours we arrived in Spain, along with my Grandparents and Aunt. We spent a few days there sightseeing in Spain. Then we slowly made our way across Europe. We were spending a few days if not a week in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and back to Spain to spend the last days there before heading home. 

Alex's favorite part was France, personally, I enjoyed them all equally. However, we had to return eventually. So we came home, and there we started to live our lives as a married couple. Like usual I worked alongside House learning all I could from him. While Alex slowly worked her way to become the head of the research department at the hospital. 

"House don't you have anything better to do?" I say one day as I'm working in the clinic with House bothering me while I help a patient. 

"No, no cases today. So I figured I'd help my best student with his work," House says while taking notes of whatever he is doing. 

"You're not a real doctor?" the patient I'm seeing says looking at me with nervousness. 

"Ignore him, yes I'm a real doctor," I say while House snorts though not saying anything. 

"Gabe! Oh, sorry… Haley is here, she is giving birth!" Alex says opening the door to the room House looks confused at first forgetting who Haley is. 

"OK, be there in a sec… House you can take over right? Cool thanks," I say tossing House the patient's notes to him while following after Alex before House can deny me. 

"That dick!" I hear House says while closing the door to the room.

We quickly made our way to the delivery room Haley was in there we saw the entirety of Alex's family, along with Andy's parents who came too since Haley was due soon. They all were looking anxious and talking about the delivery. Claire said what it was like for her, along with Gloria, and Andy's Mom. Hearing what they were saying Luke and Manny looked very uncomfortable. 

"Gabe! Alex!" Phil says running over to us looking both extremely excited and nervous. 

"Do you think it is going well? Gabe, can you go in there and check?" Phil says before we can respond to him. 

"Uhm… no. And yes it seems to be doing fine," I say to Phil as he nods his head. 

"Gabe, you ready to be an Uncle?" Luke says walking over to me as everyone now spots us entering the waiting area. 

"Yeah I guess, can't be harder than being an older brother," I say shrugging as Luke nods his head, but I can see he is nervous about being an Uncle. 

"I can't wait to hold those chubby little babies!" Alex says looking very excited to meet her niece and nephew. 

After we came back from our honeymoon, Alex and I've been talking about kids. We decided that we would not technically be trying, but stopping all caution, so she may just get pregnant. However, after today, I can see after this Alex might just stop letting fate decide for us and make us try for real. 

"Yeah, when are you guys going to have some?" Phil says looking at us both annoyed that Alex didn't immediately get pregnant after the honeymoon. 

"Sorry?" I say with a confused shrug while Alex ignores him. 

"No need to rush things, trust me, kids are a lot of work, and when you guys are ready then have some," Claire says with the other parents nodding their heads in agreement. 

"Gabe! You bastard!" House says having arrived after ditching the clinic. 

Everyone knowing him now just rolls their eyes at his presence. However, House seeing Gloria stops in his tracks remembering her kick to his nuts. Gloria is glaring at him while House is glaring back at her. Jay is glaring at him since he heard what happened later and now hates House too. 

"Listen, my sister-in-law is giving birth. So let me just wait for an hour or so," I say to House and he just grunts. 

"Fine," House says while side-eyeing Gloria who is still glaring at him.

An hour later Haley finally gives birth and we are all allowed into the room. There we see the two babies being held by the new parents. The room becomes quickly crowded as everyone goes inside to see the babies. 

"What are their names?" Claire says as the babies are being cooed at by everyone. 

"This is Poppy Bailey," Haley says holding their daughter, giving them Andy's last name even though they are not yet technically married yet. 

"And this is George Bailey," Andy says holding their son. 

"They are sooo cute!" Alex says practically screaming in excitement. 

'Seems we will be trying officially for kids soon,' I think seeing Alex's excitement, plus I am excited too, to start my own family not having one from my past life. 

House then alerts me that my time is up and I have to go back to work. So I bid everyone goodbye before finishing my shift there. Later that day once Alex and I finish our shifts we visit Haley and Andy before going home. This time we are the only ones there since everyone went home already.

"Hey guys… are they sleeping?" Alex says walking into the room looking for babies. 

"Yeah," Andy says as we see Haley passed out along with the two babies sleeping. 

"The nurse said she'd come back later so Haley could get a night's rest," Andy says as he smiles down at his kids. 

"Definitely take her up on that offer, you guys won't be getting much rest soon," I say nodding my head as some new parents want to be by their children's side from birth at all times. Though will quickly learn sleep is no longer that available to them. 

"Yeah we are," Andy says nodding his head. 

"They are so freaking adorable!" Alex says in a hushed excited voice. 

"Plus that have that new baby smell," Alex says while taking more pictures of her niece and nephew. 

After seeing them one last time today we head home. On the way home, as I suspected, Alex and I talked about starting to officially try for our own kids. We decided we would officially start trying for our own. That night was a fun one for me and Alex, then time went by. 

Alex didn't get pregnant until a couple of months after we started officially trying. Then we confirmed with the OB/GYN that she was pregnant. We told our families who were extremely happy for us. After that, I had the conversation I was waiting to have with House. I would be telling him I'm leaving to work on my own at the Hospital, though I would become the head surgeon for Neurology as the opening was there. 

"House, can we please talk?" I say walking into his office after he dismissed everyone today he has been avoiding me the last few days like he knew what I wanted to talk about. 

"No, I'm busy," House says dismissing me like usual. Though this time I was not going to walk away. 

"Here is my two-week notice. I got the position as the head of the Neurology and once there I'm going to finish the research I've been working on in my free time," I say to House placing my letter on his desk as he just stares at me in silence. 

Seeing he isn't talking I take my leave and go meet with Cuddy, as she gave me one of the labs in the hospital after I showed her my progress in cancer research. I asked her not to tell anyone until I found the last piece, which I already have, but waiting to leave House's service. 

"Gabe… wait," House says as I'm about to leave his office. 

"You left this paper on my desk," House says not accepting my leave. I just shake my head at him and leave the office. 

I talk with Cuddy who understands House is pissed I'm leaving. Though she is extremely excited to have me as the head of Neurology especially since I'm so close to finding the long-awaited cure to cancer. Plus because of me, the Hospital has received major donations from my family and Eric who wants to help me out with anything. 

"Don't worry about House, I'll deal with him. If you want I can transfer you today," Cuddy says as I think about it for a minute. 

"Sure, though can I work in the lab today? I feel I'm extremely close to a breakthrough," I say as Cuddy nods her head, just then House walks into the office glaring at us both. 

"You are seriously going to let him leave?!" House says pointing at me while glaring at Cuddy. 

"House, in all seriousness I enjoyed our time working for you. I hope we can remain friends," I say offering my hand in a handshake but he ignores me. With a sigh, I shake my head and head to my new lab and office on a different floor than House's. 

There I started doing the final touches, as I managed to manufacture a virus that targets the cancer cells. Though it has a short lifespan, dying out within several days, so some people may need to be treated several times to kill all the cancer cells. I seemed to work all day in the lab as no one came to bother me, plus I didn't know it was that late until Alex called me asking where I was. 

A week later after I officially became the head of the department and met with my team, I called Cuddy showing her my research had been completed. Now we just need willing test subjects and once we have enough proof it works we can make it an official medicine. I then walked around the cancer ward talking with some of the patients with Wilson's help asking them if they'd be interested in trying this new medicine. 

We managed to convince enough people to try it and began treating them. They were surprised that all the treatment was a shot every few days. Then each one that took the trial showed cancer regression within the first day and was completely free of cancer by the second week. Wilson was beyond happy at this discovery I made and then we officially published it. 

Once it went through more trials by the end of the two months, I officially made the world news of finding the cure to cancer. Like that, my name became known worldwide and the medicine was sent out to the whole world. I asked Eric to use his one company to manufacture it and sell it at cost. Eric didn't think twice and did what I asked selling the cancer treatment virus to the world. 

During this time, House was finally forced into getting help at a psychiatric hospital for his addiction. I tried visiting him once, but he wouldn't see me, only Wilson was the person he'd see. At this point, Alex was almost ready to give birth to our son and was on maternity leave currently since she was due in a few weeks.

AN: I'm gonna be honest, this Fanfic will be ending in the next chapter. As I feel I'm starting to force myself to write it and I want to work on my next idea. Though I will do my best to give it a decent ending. The next idea I have will be taking place in the TV show/comic "The Boys". So by next week, I should be posting the first two chapters of that on Saturdays and Mondays. You can look at my name to see its post since I don't want to give the name of the Fanfic until I'm ready to post the chapters.
