Military base, end

( Yuuki's POV )

It's been almost a week since I went to the military base and things have been relatively quiet.

Both camps send a small team to do surveillance from afar but other than that we have no news of the major.

But I have not wasted any time, besides more rigorous training for all our soldiers I accelerated my production of new weapons that anyone could use.

I don't consider the military a real threat yet I couldn't take any chance with all the lives that depended on me now.

I was beginning to think that the major had made the right decision to stay away from our camp but that's when I got word that he was finally going to make his move and he was going all out.

The soldiers watching the military camp informed us that the major was coming to our camp along with all his soldiers fully armed leaving his base completely empty, I wonder if he is desperate or overconfident.

As soon as we received the news we mobilized our forces, ten Wanzers, fifty soldiers, and seven armored trucks to transport them all, Leading our little attack squad was Souichiro, my father, and me.

We left the camp to meet the major and his soldiers halfway before they reached our camp, we found out on the main road that goes to the city.

I wanted to put on a little show, of showing the major our superior weaponry as a final warning, the two groups stayed on opposite sides of the road for a few minutes before the leaders of both groups met in the middle of the road.

Yuuki: hello there major, it's always a pain to talk to you.

The major glared at me with a vein throbbing on his forehead and with an expression that said "insolent brat", but that doesn't matter to me, I treat everyone as they deserve to be treated and not because of their position.

Major: the feeling is mutual but I'm not here for personal reasons.

Ryouma: then what is the reason that your entire camp is marching towards ours?

Major: We are looking for refuge, after the outbreak of zombies in our base unfortunately left it less than safe.

Yuuki: really? Seek refuge with us?

Major: You've been rescuing civilians all this time, are you going to deny us help because of a personal disagreement?

Yuuki: I'm not that petty, this has to do with you being a big fucking liar.

The vein on the major's forehead looked like it was going to explode but I kept talking without paying attention to it.

Yuuki: Do you really want to be treated like any other civilian? That would mean giving up all your weapons and your power in your group.

The Major remained silent, weighing the pros and cons of what I said.

Yuuki: Well, don't bother answering, I know that you will always have ulterior motives, but I also know that not everyone can be as prepared as I am.

At a nod from me one of our trucks moved forward and I hit its side with my palm a couple of times.

Yuuki: this is packed with enough provisions to last a whole year, take this find yourself a new camp and stay away from ours, Isn't that a great deal? I would definitely take that deal.

Many of the soldiers looked at each other considering my offer but there were also some completely disinterested, it seems the major had some very loyal soldiers.

After thinking for a few minutes, the Major stepped back to talk to one of his soldiers and at that moment I could only let out a sigh because I knew that this was not going to end well.

Yuuki: shame, I was hoping to end this peacefully.

After whispering an order to one of his soldiers, in a quick and trained movement, the soldier fired directly at my head but I didn't move, a barrier activated around me and before he could take another shot at me, a bullet flew from his side that exploded his head.

The girl that Tsukiumi and I are training, Ruby, was set as a sniper and she had no problem shooting without asking questions, in fact, I should do something before more soldiers die.

With one stomp I created many stone stakes that non-lethally immobilized all foot soldiers.

Most of our soldiers here had just been fighting zombies so I just ordered them to stop and immobilize while the Wanzers pin down their trucks, at gunpoint even though they had more than twice as many men as us, our meeting was decided before the military camp could act.

Yuuki: Major, I gave you every chance to walk away but your stubbornness got the best of you, you have no one to blame but yourself.

The major still not wanting to admit defeat tried to struggle free but I used my kagune to end his life quickly, swiftly piercing his skull in one move.

Yuuki: listen all of you, my previous deal still stands, you can take these supplies and form a new camp away from us, Don't think about something stupid like avenging your fallen leader, he got what he deserved, You don't have to die here but don't get me wrong we are more than ready to protect our home against anyone, you have ten minutes to decide.

With their leader dead, the rest of the soldiers did not hesitate to retire to a new camp and most likely had an internal conflict to decide on their new leader there, I doubt we'll be hearing from them any time soon.

After that anti-climactic finale of the major, we return to our camp to take care of more important matters, like finishing cleaning the city of zombies and continuing with the search for Tooru but when I returned, my beloved Sekireis reminded me that there was something else that needed my immediate attention.
