Fire And Death

I was violently shaken awake by my mother screaming something I could not hear her voice drowned out by the loud clashing of weapons outside. I sat up from a large mat that covered a large portion of the floor the hay still tangled in my long platinum hair. My cobalt blue eyes darting around the sparsely furnished one-room house looking for my Father but he was nowhere in sight nor was his spear which would normally be leaning by the door. Without thinking I jumped out of bed making a mad dash for my spear. With it in hand, I ran outside eyes darting around looking for my father but all I could were the men of the village fighting men dressed in chainmail their surcoats were a turquoise color with a longship in the center and crossing battle axes in the background.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my father, Aethelweal, struggling to keep up with a knight in a heavily armored plate mail suit. Aethelweal had cuts and stab wounds everywhere he was panting heavily barely able to keep on his feet. I started to make my way to him but before I could reach him the soldier swiped down with his sword cutting my Father's spear in one blow and with another swift movement that seemed impossible in his armor he cut my father's head from his shoulders.

He then looked at me dead in the eyes, eyes which seemed to glow red in the light of the burning village. Fear gripped me as he charged me sword in hand ready to cut me down. I thrust my spear at the knight though it bounced off his armor doing no damage. He then grabbed the spear just below the head of the spear pulling me toward him. He then drove his sword into my stomach blood flying everywhere as the sword dug ever deeper. My blood began to rush from the wound as he removed the sword from my stomach. As I fell to my knees I heard the scream of my mother and siblings, glancing back to the entrance of my house I saw my family executed on the ground as spears were forced through their backs and through their hearts.

Everything went dark as I collapsed to the ground while my family screamed in pain. Thoughts rushed my brain repeating over and over. Am I going to die, I don't want to die.
