Chaprer 2

When breakfast finished every one apart from me went to perform their duties. It's not like I was lazy or unwilling to work, but you can't really expect a five year old to do much work right. Plus since I was so young my family thought of me as the useless eight son so the family left me to my own devices and let me do whatever I wanted as long as it wasn't a hinderance for others.

Since I had nothing else to do I made my way to my father's study though my father rarely uses it since he could bearly read, even when he had to sign some important documents he would do it on the dining table. The rest he left to his retainers and village headman to manage. Some one could easily embezzle money from father and he wouldn't even realise it, so as a noble he would be considered quite average.

Though this is also the case for most rural nobles. Apart from the nobles in the capital or the great nobles, for whom it is necessary to know how to mannage their territories, many rural nobles depend on their retainers to manage their territory.

Seeing the size and current condition of my home, I can't help but think 'Although this place is called the baumiester mansion it has none of the opulence and grandeur, one would associate with the word'

The baumeister mansion was quite small, it had a storehouse, a kitchen, a study and five bedrooms .

The olny ones who had their own personal rooms were father, mother, the eldest Kurt and the second eldest hermann.

While the four youngest paul, helmuth, erich and myself had to share the same room.

The mistresses family with her children two sons walter and karl, and two daughters agnes and karina lived at the village headman's villa. Since there was no room in the mansion and there was also no reason for us to interact although I had met them on several occasions.

Seeing that I reached the study, I opened the door of the study and entered, after entering the study I picked up the book I had been previously reading on the history of the kingdom. Despite being a lowly knight household we had quite the collection of books. It was probably accumulated over the decades by the different family heads of our family. The book I was currently reading was olny one in the study which I hadn't already finished.

I had started learning how to read as soon as I could walk at age of one. Although most one year olds would have difficulty walking, I had used the skill creation ability to create the skill 'super soldier' which not olny made my body a lot stronger, it also increased by speed, durability, reflexes and learning ability, with it I was able to easily walk around on my own from the age of one.

Out of all my wishes, the skill creation ability had been the most useful so far. To use it all I had do to was imagine the skill I wanted and as long as it was in the limits of the skill creation ability, It would create the skill for me and give me an instinctual knowledge on how to use the skill.

I had created many skills to aid me in my studies which were 'idetic memory', 'language proficiency', 'finance management', 'feudal management', 'arms mastery' and 'genius'.

The idetic memory skill gave me a perfect memory, language proficiency skill made it easier for me to learn any new language, finance management skill increased my aptitude and understanding in matters of finances, banking and accounting, feudal management skill gave me an increased understanding over how territories should be developed and governed, arms mastery gave me talent in all forms of armed combat and the skill genius increased my ability in all aspects.

These skills allowed me to easily learn the language and absorb the knowledge in all of the books in the study.

I then started to read the history book I had in my hands. A few hours pass by as I finish reading the book, I then put down the book and let out a sigh 'man history is so boring'

, as I think this my eyes fall upon the magic books. Apparently those books were cheaper than the other books, since the kingdom personally takes on the cost of printing them. The magic talent of a person is not hereditary, so these books are made weidely available.

I had read all three of the magic text books. The first one was for basic, second one was for intermediate and third one was for advance magic. I was easily able to practice the basic magic in the study and in my room, things like creating a fire ball on the tip of my finger, making a mini tornado on the palm of my hands, shooting out a shard of earth and filling up a glass of water. For intermediate magic I had to go to the hunting grounds to practice, since the family had a non interference policy as long as I wasn't being a hinderance, no one stopped me, although someone would ask me where I was going from time to time, so I tell them I was going to the hunting grounds to play, they did look at me wierdly and told me to be careful but they didn't stop me. As for advanced magic I really wasn't able to practice it, since its really destructive.

I was contemplating this, when the door of the study opened and erich walked in, he had a handsome face, shoulder length brown hair and eyes and an average build, out of all my brothers I can honestly say he was my favorite. It's not like I disliked my other brothers or anything but they were a lot older than me so didn't have much to talk about is all. While erich and I spent most of our free time together here in the study or practicing archery and swordmenship.

When I first came to this world I thought every thing would be the same as cannon, but my father's words during breakfast proved my thought process was wrong, so seeing him entering the study I asked him a question to see if my knowledge of the baumeister territory was correct or not.

Wendelin "big brother, can you tell me about the baumeister territory"

When he heard my question he smiled and nodded, then he came towards me and sat next to me on the couch and than began answering me.

Erich "Our territory includes all the lands south of the great southern mountain range, though all lands haven't been explored yet, it is thought that the lands that are part of our territory are anywhere from 2 to 4 times the size of a duke's territory though less than one percent have been developed"

'I can't believe it!, in the cannon the territory of baumeister household was the size of a duke's territory but now it's 2 to 4 times larger that's insane', as I think my eyes gain a perticular glint to them 'Once I become the head of the house and develop this territory, my house will become the richest and most powerful house in the kingdom.I also know from the canon that the baumeister territory is extremely rich in mineral resources'.

Erich"Don't get so excited, since most of it is actually monster territory and our house doesn't have the resources needed to develop such a large territory any time soon"

It appears erich was able see through my feelings, 'I need to get better at hiding my feelings' I think. I then put on neutral look on the outside while I was celebrating on the inside about having such great luck.

At the time when the baumeister territory was established the royal family had declared that all the territory beyond the great southern mountain range belongs to the baumeister household.

After my talk with erich I left the library and went to my room to pick up my bow, I then attached the pack of arrows to my back and put the bow on my shoulder and started heading towards the hunting grounds, although the bow and arrows were just a gimmick, I planned on using my magic to hunt, the only reason I hadn't done so until now was because I didn't want my family to find out about my magic. But since I plan to leave this place in the next month with alfred and brantag there's no reason to hide it anymore.

The reason I hid my magic from my family was because in canon when wendelins family finds out about his magic things become quite awkward between them, and he is constantly reminded by erich not to help with the development of the territory because if the people of the territory found out that he had magic, there would be many who would want him as the next lord, like this things would spiral into a sucession dispute. Although I plan to become the next lord, right now isn't the time.

Before going to the hunting grounds, I made my way to the kitchen, and got my lunch since I probably won't be back for a few hours, and not be able to make it back in time for lunch.

On my way to the hunting grounds I ran into my father, he looked at the bow I had on my shoulder and asked me.

Artur "oh wendelin, are you going to the hunting grounds"

I nodded at his words, seeing this he continued.

Artur "be careful then alright and try to gather some fire wood", he after saying this went on his way.

I had made my way onto the hunting grounds and started gathering all the edible plants I could find. Since I had been coming tonthe hunting grounds fir the past year gathering ingredients didn't take much tume, I had been in the hunting grounds for an hour and was able to gather some mushrooms, vegetables and even a one meter long wild yam thanks to my detection magic. I had also hunted a rabbit and used air slash to catch it off guard and kill it.

Carrying so much was difficult so I used light weight magic to make the weight of my sack lighter along with strengthening magic, I also used recovery magic to recover my stamina and could feel my body become lighter when I used it.

After another hour, I had run into a pair of ginea fowl, they resembled ducks from my previous life, they have incredibly delicious meat, but they are also quite cunning and very difficult to catch. To put it into prospective if a skilled hunter spends one day hunting, he would be quite lucky if he is able to catch a single ginea fowl.

I didn't think I could catch them with my current abilities, so I used skill creation to create two skills 'mana efficiency' and 'magic accuracy'. Mana efficiency decreases the magic cost of any spell I cast to the absolute minimum and magic accuracy increases the accuracy of my spells.

I then created two wind blades simultaneously while hiding behind a tree and launched the wind blades towards them from their blind side to catch them off gaurd, both the ginea fowl were decapitated before they could react, I then put their bodies in the sack and went back to the mansion.

When my family found out that I caught two ginea fowl, all of them were happy and for the first time congratulated me. That night their were two beautifully cooked birds on the dining table and as the main contributor I had received quite a large share.

The next month the baumeister dining table was filled with dishes made from nature's bounty which was gathered and by me. Until the day, alfred and berkhart would visit finally arrived.
