Opposing elements

"BEGIN!"

Aurora and I had clearly heard the "begin" but we still stood in our stops sizing each other up.

After five minutes, I decided to take a step forward and the moment I did an arrow was shot at my head at a very fast speed. I turned my head to the side and it went past my head or at least I thought it did.

Aurora seemed to have used some wind magic to halt the arrows flight for a second and then...

~BOOM!~

The arrow exploded and smoke covered my vision.

'Yes! That's a direct hit to the head. It has to be life threatening. I've won this' Aurora thought to herself.

She looked up at the glass room but she couldn't see me there and I jumped out of the smoke with my rapier aimed at piercing her neck.

Her eyes widened in shock and she jumped but what she didn't expect was for my sword to suddenly change it's direction mid swing and barely touch her leg.

'I still can't do the feint technique properly but I least I've drawn first blood' my mind rang looking at blood oozing out of Aurora's ankle.

'That's gotta sting a lot'

I could see her gritting her teeth and them she did something... unreasonable.

She raised up and hands leaving herself completely vulnerable and she chanted a spell and two balls of fire went up into the sky collided with each other making smoke big to cover the sun.

'She's planning something' my mind rang.

I was confident that she couldn't hurt me, I was a level 601, and she was 467.

I stepped forward and she shot an arrow right at my leg where I shifted to but I quickly moved left and I ran forward with my sword in a piercing pose.

She placed ten arrows in her bow this time and she fired all of them to different places despite holding the bow in one place. I dodged the two arrows at once and I parried three when I moved.

Two came at me from behind but I deflected them with my sword again. It was by no means an easy feat, the arrows were as heavy as boulders and they made cracks on the cement platform when they landed.

I turned my attention back to Aurora who fired about twenty arrows again. This time I didn't bother using my sword. My aura flared up like a yellow flame and all the arrows were held tight in the air then I released my aura and they dropped.

I looked at my opponent expecting a look of despair on my face but she smirked. Almost immediately, she moved her hands at breakneck speed in the air aimlessly and the next moment I found my self in a trap of invisible strings.

'Oh I get it now, those arrows had strings on them and the fireballs she threw into the sky was to cover up the glint of that the sun would make on it. However... this can't stop me.' my mind rang.

I was stuck mid air with the strings holding me tight in place threatening to cut my skin.

"...looks like mother's rank 11 treasure works." I could hear Aurora mutter.

"It's time to end this!" she screamed.

She took out what looked like hundreds of arrows. I was surprised that her bow could take everything and that's when I saw that it was bigger than before accommodating one hundred arrows.

She aimed at the sky like before and she pulled back the string and released it. All the arrows went up and through the smoke caused by the fireballs she made earlier.

They went through without disturbing any cloud. I hung in the air carefree, I wasn't understanding her, I just knew what would happen.

"Ah, maybe I should spice it up. Heh, this tournament is fun~" I muttered to myself.

It was at that moment that the clouds made way for the hundred flaming arrows that were about to descend onto me. Instead of seeing me despair, Aurora saw a confident smirk on my face.

"[Qi Barrier]"

That's when I did something crazy that even my master wouldn't dare to do, a technique I had been creating behind his back.

When mana and qi touched, they would explode and I was about to use it to my advantage. I conjured a qi barrier and underneath it I made a mana barrier.

The audience thought this was a desperate attempt to save myself and so did my opponent but I would prove them wrong.

The moment the slightest bit of mana touched the qi barrier, there was a loud bang and it set of a chain reaction among the other arrows.

~KABOOOOOOOOOOM!!!~

I constantly poured my mana into the mana barrier. If I stopped to breathe for a second, the teleportation mechanism wouldn't be able to save me from dying.

Soon after, the smoke died down and I looked outside the transparent mana barrier to see the destruction I had caused.

The platform had been completely erased, the only part left of it was where I was standing on. The rest had become parched soil.

The audience were looking at me like I was a monster. Even my friends had shocked gazes and the biggest of them all was my master's. His face was pale showing that he had feared the worst when I used the qi barrier.

"T-T-THE WINNER OF THE FIRST MATCH OF COCO IS CONTESTANT NICK!"
