Chapter 31

Chapter 31

Warning: Violence

The room light is dim. Kun is talking with someone Jamie thinks is a mafia leader too based on his ring with Japanese engrave letters of ripper. Jamie scoffed, not enjoying every bit of it. The man in a green suit prepared them drinks but the blonde ignored it, crossing his legs and busying himself with his phone. He asked Ren about his day but the boy only told him about his homework and his father going to school. Fortunately, Ren is quick to recognize his father waiting for him outside the gate and the teenage boy quickly hides and asks for the guard to help him not be noticed. He made it through.

"It's an honor having business with you Kim-san." Jamie heard the man who was wearing a black suit talking to his brother.

"I don't care about your habit Kuro-san but I don't appreciate this place being our meeting place. Consider this of me being generous." Kun has a stern expression on his face not liking the way the middle-aged man does things.

Jamie heard them talking about business in weapons. Kun is precise and willing to get the price lower because it was the first transaction and Dragons always gives the business partners a few benefits. Jamie didn't get the tradition but their father thought it was a prestige that people sucker to have.

"Kim-san, forgive my insolence, some of my partners enjoy such acts… Hence, I'll keep it in mind." He chuckled and Jamie felt disgusted at the man.

"I heard that some gang is giving you trouble." Kun's eyes flicker and raise his brow. The small gang that infiltrates the club is supposedly a secret. Only a few people knew about what happened inside so Kun is curious how this man knew it.

"They were taken care of," Kun muttered, not giving any hint. Jamie sees the man turn stiff for a second but relaxes eventually and changes the topic.

"Excuse me. Kim-san, Kuro-san. The event will be starting." They get interrupted by the green-suited man earlier who confidently walks on them, giving Gino and Kuro-san a feral smile. Kun's face is stone blank but Jamie can see his irritation in the way his lips twitch slightly. Jamie has long learned how to study people no matter how intimidating they are. It helps him in his business before and uses it to his advantage.

Kuro coughed and apologized awkwardly to Kun who ignored him, not minding the respect he deeply asked for Jamie. The young blonde looked at the stage and the men hovering near it disappeared because the surrounding turned darker. There is nothing, only dim light with red velvet color appears circling the bottom of the stage. There is a spotlight illuminating radically at one corner and a very beautiful girl appears on the stage and people who Jamie thought vanished start to yell like wild animals. Jamie clenches his fist.

"We will start to auction. Ladies and gentlemen, The new Athena of Velvet Venus! A Pureblood!" The host was snickering wickedly as those men started to bid their price.

"300,000 dollars!"

"350!"

"5million!"

"20million!"

"50million!"

Jamie's eyes turned darker and he felt nausea. He stands up and Gino looks at him with awe, he quickly exits the room ignoring the men who give him less attention. He walks into the hallway looking for the men's room. He found it quickly as he walked through the blue little lanterns that brightened the aisle. Jamie didn't know what he looked like but he felt strange. He strides to one stall and Jamie kneeled at the bowl and quickly vomited. There is nothing to throw up for so Jamie didn't feel better with the acid building in his mouth. There is a murky feeling inside his stomach and Jamie decided to wash his mouth at the faucet turning on the water and letting it run but it still didn't give him comfort.

The mirror reflects his miserable state. His eyes were misty with tears building up. He felt awful and his abdomen was distressed. Jamie tried to breathe to shatter the tension in his muscles but it didn't work. His mind is running wild as he witnesses a live human auction. Jamie never experienced this kind of brutality in his life.

He was surrounded by people who cared for and loved him. He was taught to respect people and their boundaries. His task in force has violence in it and he even participates in harming a person but he has never been in a place where he witnesses barbarity at one's expense.

Jamie did his logic. Those people he hurt in his past life are all bad people who were hurting innocent people. However, how was it different? He was also a cruel monster, a fake executioner who took orders to eliminate evil. How do we even define evil? What kind of circumstances will people engage in to judge cruelty in humanity? Jamie kills bad people but how much was the difference it was after seeing those men play the life of an innocent girl? Who is to blame for their unfortunate life?

Jamie is never a hero or a chaser of peace. He lives life and completes his task. He died because someone loves him so much. Was it his fault? Jamie feels the raw set of emotions messing his brain. He cannot breathe and he feels sick!

Why does his father let an innocent boy like Jamie participate in this kind of place? They never warn him! He is new to this side of the earth where the underworld is composed of cruel species who didn't care about anything aside from their greed. A human slave? Jamie wanted to puke! His breathing is uneven and he tried his best to overcome everything. He isn't ready for this kind of world. He refused to be part of them. Those unemotional eyes and violence towards each other. Jamie is not signed for this. He never was. Why is he even here? What is the purpose?!

Jamie's eyes were blurred and his sweat was cold. He heard the door open but never shifted his head to check who was loitering. He heard someone call for his name but Jamie is not sober yet. He feels his body shaking from fear and disdain. He hated being here. Someone needs to get him out of this filth!

"Jamie?" The voice calls his name but he cannot understand him.

"Are you okay?" He asked again but Jamie cannot comprehend any letters or words he was saying. His eyes were focused on the blurred mirror and the running water from the faucet. His face was red and his nausea worsened. He feels his knees wobble as he tries to move out and face the stranger.

"Shit!"

Jamie only felt two strong arms carry him as he was almost knocked over on the ground. The surface is cold and Jamie is having a hard time concentrating. He smells a deterrent as his face was on the chest of the man who was slightly trying to move him to get a response but Jamie is frozen to his shell. He cannot speak as he feels the exhaustion.

Jamie passed out.
