Make a lemonade out of lemon.
As promised, Daryl dropped her at the nearest temple before leaving back to work. He has a list of patients he has to attend and could not accompanied Helena. She gestured him to leave before slowly walking inside the temple and looking around. The temple is old, and a little bit worn down. The roof looks like it's ready to give up any minute soon. She walked around to see if she can meet any monk that can tell her the possibility of having to live different life as a form of punishments. Is there a way for her to keep living. The twins mention she would always die and reincarnated, to experience heart break and torment and pain of death.
Living this life where her mom exists and alive is enough for her to fight for. She does not want to be part or even find any trace of the Cabal, she wanted to leave that life behind. She refuses to get tangled in all of that. With no memory of previous Helena, she won't know for sure if she will be tangled in that life cycle. The twins did her dirty by lying to her about second chance, as foolish as she is, she discloses it to Daniel and was assumed as a crazy person. She sure knew in this world; her son does not exist yet.
She was foolish, she was so caught up last time in searching for the Cabal, that she completely wasted it.
"You have a stamped-of death on you my child".
She turned her back and saw a man dressed in orange clothing sweeping the concrete floor of the temple.
"Excuse me?" She thought she heard it wrong.
"You know what i mean. Have a seat" He gestured it to her on the floor. There is a rectangle old mat facing a pond that is covered in green algae.
She sat and waited for the monk to make his way to her.
"There is no way to escape it." He casually mentions while taking out a book made from calve skin and dip his pen to the ink and started writing.
"I dont understand" she do understand, but she wanted more.
"You paid for what you did, i do not know what you did in your previous life, atonement is something you cant escape. When hell refuses you to enter, know that you are already in your own hell. You will experience losing everyone and yourself. i have seen so many people lose their mind over it"
"I see." There is no telling what she feels right now. Regardless a punishment or not, she intends to cherish her mom, and protect her from harm. she will sacrifice her life if that means her mom is safe.
"Do not despair my child, life is simple. Don't view it as a punishment, regardless of what it seems. Enjoy the life. When life gives you lemon, you make a lemonade for it. " The monk is nice enough to listen to Helena, he believes her since she was not the first person to experience this, he had encountered several people. However, it was his first time listening to the reason why, Helena did not disclose too much, she learnt her lesson from what happen previously. Just enough to make him understand. He wanted her to come frequently and talk to him. He wants her to not lose her mind like the rest.
Both chatted and it was pleasing moment for both, she felt relief to know she was not delirious, and it happened to more people than she expected.
Bidding goodbye to the monk, she walked out to the driver that waited for her.
Her hand was grabbed by a child that was looking alarmed. She saw the child and squatted down to ask where her mother and next thing is she knows a loud thump was heard and she completely blacked out from it.
She heard a commotion and rustling sound, as of now she can only pretend to be unconscious and remembering the road and turns the van made. She knew the driver her mother sent will end up looking for her and her family will be aware. She is not sure if this is related to cabal in this world or something else. She knew she can't escape danger in this life and its part of her hell loop. It all makes so much sense that she knew about the loop, it made her no longer frustrated or upset. Especially when the monk explained to her about the karmic balance.
The van finally came to a halt, she is pretending to pass out to see who is behind all of these. It gives her enough time to make sure everything she plan is working. She felt the rough calluses palm grabbing her arm and yanked her to sit on the floor, it's hard not to wince since the man that yanked used his entire force. She has dead weight on her and if she winces, she will give away that she is awake. she wanted to hear their conversation and wanted to know more.
