Before the storm

(Shirou's pov)

The date with Rin was planned to happen in two days and during that time I was in one of the best moods in a very long time. 'Lucky' accidents during these two days happened more frequently but I avoided them all albeit with more difficulties. It seemed as if the difficulty level has risen but I'm too happy too worry about it. Even my family have noticed my sudden change.

(Illya's pov)

In the last two days Onii-chan seemed really joyful. I don't know why is that but it also makes me happy.

Since three years he always gave the impression of forcing himself too much. He was always gentle to me and helped me if I needed but sometimes his eyes looked sad.

I wanted to help Onii-chan but I didn't know how. As much as I hate to make that comparison he resembled a hero with a tragic past. People like these are always the kindest but I didn't expect it holds true even in real life.

I also know that Onii-chan isn't my real brother and he was adopted ten years ago but he started 'forcing' himself three years ago so I'm not sure what could have happened.

Speaking of heroes it reminds me of Archer.

Now that I think about it they look really similar. They have similar height, voice and have the same hair colour but their personality is fundamentally different. Onii-chan is gentle and kind while Archer is always teasing and keeps secrets.

But now that I think about he always helps us in the most difficult situation. Like in the fight against saber, assassin, berserker and now Bazett-san and I also forgot to apologise for wounding him that time I lost control of my power.

The next time I meet him I'll-

Chloe: "Hey Illya, what are you doing?"

Illya: "Awawawa."

I waved my hands above my head as if I wanted to hide my thoughts even if she can't see them.

Chloe: "What were you thinking about that made you so flustered. Let me guess. It was about our O-nii-chan~, am I right."

How does she know it? Am I that easy to read?

Illya: "I was just thinking that Onii-chan looks happier than usual these past two days so I was thinking if something good happened to him."

Chloe: "Maybe Onii-chan has a date."

Illya: "D-date!!?"

Wait, she just want to tease me as usual but not this time Chloe.

Illya: "Good try Chloe but we both know that Onii-chan is a herbivore type I doubt he would invite someone on a date."

Chloe: "But what if someone invited him instead?"

Illya: "In that case-"

Wait, what would happen in that case. Would Onii-chan accept or reject on such occasion?

As of reading my thoughts again Chloe stopped me from overthinking.

Chloe: "Hahaha, I was just joking. I've never seen Onii-chan interested in romance and I doubt anyone would invite him. Sure there are some girls that would want to be in relationships with him but none would ask him because the others would stop her so unless Onii-chan make a move nothing will happen."

Hearing her I let out a huge breath.

Illya: "Wait if Onii-chan isn't interested in romance isn't that a problem for us too."

Chloe: "Maybe for you but I have... methods."

She said as she licked her lips seductively.

(A/N I swear that's just her character, I didn't want to write it. Don't call FBI, I'm just innocent author.)

As we were talking we heard someone shouting from the downstairs.

Shirou: "I'm going out!"

Together with Chloe I run downstairs. It's not unusual for Onii-chan to go out somewhere almost everyday but usually he does it earlier.

Illya: "Where are you going Onii-chan?"

Shirou: "I'm going on a date so I'll be back in the evening, bye. Wait I forgot to make dinner for tonight. Give me fifteen minutes and it'll be ready.

He went to the kitchen almost skipping but his action didn't register for me and probably not for Chlie either. The only think I could think of was that he soon will go out on a date.

I and Chloe went upstairs lifelessly and automatically as if our subconscious told us to be as far from Onii-chan as possible. When we went inside our room and closed the door behind us the realisation finally hit me.

Illya: "W-w-what should we do Chloe? You said that was impossible for Onii-chan to go on a date!"

I grabbed her shoulders and started shaking.

Chloe: "C-calm down Illya. The while situation is suspicious. We should follow him and uncover the truth."

It seems that the news affected her rational thinking.

I let go of her shoulders, slapped her and regrabbed her shoulders once again.

Illya: "The one who should calm down is you."

She rubbed her cheek.

Chloe: "Thanks Illya, I needed that but I still think that we should follow Onii-chan."

Illya: "Why?"

Chloe: "Aren't you curious who he is going with?"

Illya: "I can't say that I'm not but shouldn't we respect his privacy?"

Chloe: "And we will, that's why we will do it secretly so he won't notice us."

As she said that she took out two pairs of sunglasses

Illya: "But we shouldn't."

After I finished talking I turned my head away from the temptation but I still reached out my hand towards the glasses. Chloe seeing this just smiled at me and extended her hand for a handshake.

Chloe: "Let's uncover the truth behind Onii-chan's date."

I didn't say anything but still nodded my head.

Illya: Wait, do you think that covering our eyes will be enough to not be recognized by him?"

Chloe: "Of course not but it's a start."

After fifteen minutes we were ready and so was Onii-chan.

Shirou: "Bye Illya, bye Chloe. See you in the evening."

As he opened the door he noticed Miyu who was ready to knock on it.

Shirou: "Hello Miyu, Illya and Chloe are inside, see you later."

And with that he went out.

Miyu: "Illy-"

Illya: "No time to explain, come with us."

And so our undercover mission has begun.
