Chapter 5: Mission 1
Shin was stunned by the monster's stats displayed before him.
"What the hell?!" he blurted out, unable to process what he was seeing.
His legs froze in fear, but he noticed the giant green lizard was moving sluggishly.
Suddenly, it moved faster, as if attacking.
Shin closed his eyes in fear, bracing himself for the inevitable attack, but to his surprise, when he opened them again, the massive green lizard was moving in slow motion again.
He was confused and couldn't believe what he was seeing.
'So slow… what's going on?'
He checked the monster's status again, perplexed.
With such overwhelming stats, he expected to be instantly killed. But as he glanced at the monster's HP bar, he felt his heart skip a beat.
"Wait, the HP…" Shin knew what the stats exactly meant. He wasn't stupid!

[ MP: 0/18 ]
Shin's eyes widened as he took a look at the creature's low HP and MP.
"What? Did it get attacked by some other monster?"
Since the lizard appeared unable to comprehend the wolf's speech, there was little risk of causing harm in him expressing himself openly.
He quickly assessed the situation and decided that his best chance was to make a run for it.
As he cautiously moved towards the other side, a loud, jarring sound echoed in his head, causing him to stumble and lose his balance.
"What the!?" he exclaimed in shock as a message abruptly appeared before him.

'The heck? What's with this thing!?' he thought as a confused look spread across his face.
Realization dawned upon him; though he was puzzled by the information, there was only one course of action left: eliminate the menacing creature.
"Freaking hell, I don't care!" he exclaimed, running towards the lizard to kill it as soon as he saw its low HP again.
However, the lizard seemed to sense the wolf's presence and killing intent, and swiftly swung its powerful tail to strike him.
Shin's eyes widened as he saw the lizard's tail hurtling towards him, but his body refused to move in time.
With a sickening thud, the tail slammed into him, sending him flying several meters away.
*BAM*
"Arghhh!" he cried out as the impact sent him flying towards the nearby riverbank where he crashed into the water below.
*SPLASH*
As he plummeted into the river, the current swiftly swept him away, carrying him far from his point of entry.
'No way... the water sound is getting louder. If it keeps going like this, there's definitely a waterfall up ahead.'
The loud noise of the waterfall warned him about the upcoming danger, causing him to start the struggle.
Struggling against the fierce current, he finally made it to the shore and pulled himself out of the river.
"Huff, huff..." he panted heavily as bloodstains marred his body.
The blood on the pup's body seemed to be a mixture of different species. There were traces of the wolf's blood, but it was also stained with the blood of other monsters, presumably ones that had been killed by the lizard.
However, the pup was too disoriented to realize this. All he knew was that he was wounded and bleeding heavily.
Cursing under his breath, he questioned his recklessness. "Why did I do that? It was a mistake..."
Abruptly, a sharp abdominal discomfort forced him to double over and pause. As he was about to sit down and catch his breath, a notification abruptly appeared before him, interrupting his momentary respite.
*Ding*

Seeing the notification, the pup muttered, "Wait, hang on. Is this...?"
"I'm already soaking wet, and if I get hit with that shock now..." he muttered, but before he could finish his sentence, the timer had expired, and electricity surged through his drenched form.
*ZZDDZZDD*
"Woooffff!"
Crying out in agony from the unexpected jolt, he let out a scream.
*ZZDDZZDD*
"Stop it already!!!" he shouted in agony as the electric shock continued to course through his body.
Finally, after a torturous five seconds, the current stopped, leaving him gasping for air and trembling with pain.
The wolf pup was already drenched from falling into the river, so the electric shock was especially intense when it hit him.
"Ughh, that hurt... dammit...", his eyelids drooping.
The shock he received was not only intensified by his wet fur but also by the pain from his wounds.
He cursed in agony, when a notification suddenly appeared.

"I couldn't be any luckier than this," he thought to himself. He was surprised because in the future, he wouldn't feel any pain if he didn't complete a mission.
However, the excruciating pain he felt a moment ago was all too real.
"Hold on...this is similar to those game systems, isn't it? If that's the case, can I check my stats too?" He pondered for a moment before promptly requesting the system to display his stats.
"System, show profile!"

There was quite a bit of unnecessary content provided at the beginning regarding the system, not all of which seemed relevant or helpful.
"Heh, the Supreme Predator System, huh? Do they really expect me to become the apex predator?" chuckled the wolf pup, amused by the idea.
He sighed and said, "Seems like the system is as foolish as I am." Despite that, he couldn't help but laugh at the words displayed on the screen.
"I requested to see my profile, not yours. I guess I forgot to mention 'my'," he chuckled at his own forgetfulness, realizing that he could be quite clueless at times.
"Ouch..." he winced, feeling a twinge of pain in his abdomen from laughing too much. Most of the injury had mended itself, leaving behind superficial cuts and lingering soreness.
"System, can you show me my profile?" he requested.
Another prompt appeared moments later.
