Chapter 37 – Massacre

Anger had overwhelmed me. These dirty and ugly goblins dare to eat swan meat while they are frogs. Without caring anymore about continuing to hide, I entered the underground cavern.

All the goblins stopped instantly upon noticing my presence. Outraged by me, they all stopped and took up their weapons. Without hesitation they all rushed at me in a fierce race.

*Squeak

This time there were witnesses so I couldn't be careless and use my claws. I had to draw my sword and run towards them.

The reinforcement magic was active, making me look blurry at the sight of the goblins. A few goblin heads flew through the skies as their brothers tried to reach me. In the midst of the mob, the spear-wielding goblins tried to impale me alive. Jumping up, I performed a stunt in the air, when I fell, I aimed my sword downwards, killing another goblin.

-     Gobuuuuuuuuuu!

At the cry all the goblins rushed relentlessly against me. Seeing that this situation was dangerous even for me, I was forced to take a few blows.

Small cuts had destroyed my shirt and red blood stained it.

-     Gobu Gobu Glob

Seeing my wounds, the goblins were thrilled. They thought it was easy prey that was going to fall soon. What they didn't know was that my immortality had sealed the wound and healed almost instantly. The only thing that bothered me was the pain, so I still dodged them annoying attacks.

The only possible ways to kill a vampire would be to decapitate him and for these guys it would be impossible. There was no way I was going to die for someone like them. Minutes passed and the number of goblins dwindled. Now there were only ten lefts, and they no longer posed a threat.

Seeing that they were not enough, the goblin leader became frustrated and frightened. With no other options, he made a scream that surprised me.

-     GOBUUUUUUUUUUU!

From the depths of the cave a creature had awakened from its sleep. In the meantime, I finished killing all of these remaining creatures except for their leader, who ran into the depths of the cave.

*Clank *Clank *Clank

I could hear the footsteps of two creatures approaching me. I could infer that one was the goblin that escaped, but the other seemed to be different from him and was dragging some sort of weapon or metal object.

When they got close enough, I could see what appeared to be a trained human with a large sword in his hand. Next to him was the normal goblin, both wearing loincloths.

The only thing that differentiated this creature from a human was its green skin and lower fangs protruding from its mouth. This was a hobgoblin, a creature ten times stronger than a human. Just from his stats I knew thar I was in trouble. Still, I wasn't going to give up.

I had killed thousands, if not millions, of these types of creatures in the game. I only took one chance and I could kill him.

The hobgoblin noticed me. The goblin next to him said something that I couldn't understand, and immediately afterwards the hobgoblin screamed.

-     ARHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

He raised his heavy sword and ran toward me. This time I couldn't afford to turn off my body booster. The hobgoblin was fast and fierce. Every swing of his sword crashed into a stalagmite, shattering it into hundreds of pieces.

-     Gobu! Gobu!

The goblin who fled now had a victorious look as if he had already won. I silently led the hobgoblin toward him. I had a pretty funny idea. Without me noticing, the Hobgoblin continued to attack me indiscriminately.

When I got close enough, the goblin finally sensed the danger and tried to run away. However, I wasn't going to give him the chance. I ran up to him and grabbed him by the head, throwing him towards the hobgoblin's sword, which was falling downwards, splitting him in half.

His face showed the fear of death and the last thing his eyes saw was my middle finger that I pulled out. The hobgoblin noticed that he killed something, but he didn't care and kept attacking. For an evolved version he was very silly.

If his level of intelligence was low, he was likely to evolve as a minotaur or an ogre. This was a threat that had to be nipped in the bud. This forest was very close to the city and if given enough time to evolve it would take a party of golden adventurers to kill a minotaur.

Without waiting for me to continue launching nonsensical attacks, a magic circle with various symbols and lines appeared in my hand. The spell had been completed and a flame emerged, shooting at the monster's head.

*Thud

The fire had hit his head squarely. As he tried to put it out, he dropped his sword. This was the perfect time to attack, so I swung my sword and cut off his legs. The hobgoblin, who sensed the danger approaching him, tried to retreat. Although he did, one of his legs had been left in its previous place and his green blood was spilling out.

Without one of his footholds, he immediately fell to the ground. I had no way to fight anymore so I buried my sword in his back and pierced his heart.

This was the end of the fight. Feeling tired, I fell on my ass to the floor and breathed heavily. I ran for about 10 minutes while fighting that thing and had the reinforcement magic active. I was physically and mentally exhausted. Since everything was dark, I doubted that these women could even see what happened or was happening. So, I stealthily mobilized the spilled blood of the goblins and drank it in silence.
