Chapter 22 - Tukson's Trade Store

Shallot had landed in the alleyway right behind Sun and brought his fist down on top of his head making Sun crash onto the floor in a comedic way.

Sun: "Who did that?"

Sun jumped up onto his feet turning around to see who attacked him and saw a very muscular man standing at 5'7". He has long spiky black hair reaching down to his thighs with a single shorter bang hanging over his face while wearing a green-furred coat wrapped around his waist with a tight black long-sleeved shirt and baggy blue pants.

Sun: " Uh, I don't have any money on me!"

Shallot: "I'm not here for your Lien, Sun."

Sun was confused now looking at the person.

Sun: "Do I know you?"

Shallot: "We meet when we were kids. I thought you would remember me considering we meet while being chased by a Grimm."

Shallot: 'Let's see if he knows what I'm talking about and if he does then that was a regular Beowulf and I'm pretty sure it has never shown up in the series before.'

Sun was thinking about what Shallot said was trying to think back to his childhood in Vacuo when he remembers seeing another monkey Faunus out in the desert a short distance away from the city while he was out playing when he was told to run.

Sun: 'When I got back to the city and told the guards about a Grimm being nearby they came back but only the Grimm was there and it was just swinging its paws around but nothing was there. The guards had killed it but it just turned into black liquid sinking into the sand.'

Sun started looking at Shallot trying to look for similarities before matching up the hair and Shallot unwrapped his tail from his waist which started swinging back and forth.

Sun: "Your that kid that said you'll hold off the Grimm. Where did you go? You weren't there when I got back with the guards. I thought you were killed by it."

Shallot started stroking his chin for his none existent beard.

Shallot: 'This means that the Grimm had the capabilities of using illusions and most likely linking with another Grimm to show what it is seeing to another Grimm. From what Sun said the ability isn't completely useful.

The bodies seemed to be linked somehow ... or maybe they are one body and had simply split. I never went back to see if there was any proof that the Grimm died there. I think I have stumbled upon something. I think something is more to those Grimm than what I first believed'

Shallot: "Anyway"

Shallot punch Sun straight in his face breaking his aura sending him into the crate behind him.

Sun grabbed his face and stood back up.

Sun: "Ow ... why do you keep hitting me?"

Shallot just walked up to Sun while stretching his wrist.

Shallot: "It's nothing personal. It's just that you tried flirting with my girl. That's a capital offense worthy of an ass whoppin'."

Sun tried to slowly walk back towards the exit behind him so he can run from Shallot when he sees Shallot disappear from in front of him. He felt a chill go down his back then slowly turned seeing Shallot right there.

Sun: "Hehehe ... hehe ... we can talk about this ... I should be your friend right. We met when we were kids even."

Sun tried to get himself out of this situation and it didn't get him anywhere. For the next five minutes, Sun got beat up by Shallot before Shallot eventually left and started walking back and came across a book store.

Shallot: 'Tukson's Book Trade huh, this place might have books on making transformation weapons. I also need to get some books to see if I can get some information on stronger metals instead of just using wrought-iron.'

Shallot walked into the store.

Tukson: "Welcome to Tukson's Book Trade "Home to every book under the sun".

Shallot looked around at the books noticing that its not really a big place.

Shallot: "Do you have any books on metals for crafting transformation weapons and do you have anything on information on Grimm creatures for all across remnant."

Tukson: "We have the book about metals towards the side over to your left and the book with Grimm is on the second shelf on the wall with the maps."

Shallot walked over to the side and looked for the book and seen the book "Materials and You Vol. 1". Shallot picked the book and looked inside to see some information on certain wood trees like trees from the forever fall forest make good handles for it.

When it's ground down into a powder form and mixed into the metal it will let the handle be more compatible with fire dust and aura. He also grabbed the other books next to it Materials and You Vol. 2 & 3.

Shallot then walked over to the shelf to find the book with the Grimm and other creatures of Remnant. He wanted to find out as much information about the other areas and not just Anima where he mostly traveled.

Shallot then went to get the books and leave.

Shallot: 'Wait ... isn't he the one that gets killed by Mercury and Emerald? Maybe I should let him know that someone will be coming to take his head. If it screws over their plan then why not.'

Tukson: "Materials and You Vol. 1 -1,956 Lien

Materials and You Vol. 2 -1,956 Lien

Materials and You Vol. 3 -1,956 Lien

Where the Wild Things Roam - 1,422 Lien

Total 7,290 Lien"

Shallot: "Ok."

Shallot used his card and swiped so he could pay for it and then got his bag and when he was by the door.

Shallot: "Tukson ... if I was you, I would leave Vale tonight. If you stay for one more day you're going to be killed. You leaving the White Fang will not be tolerated by the madmen leading it."

Tukson's eyes widened and was going to get ready to fight.

Tukson: "What do you mean by that?"

Shallot: "I warned you already. Just take it as someone who also left the White Fang giving out a warning."

Shallot then left out of the shop about to head back to the school when he came across another shop "Materials and You".

Shallot: "This can't be a coincidence. Who is naming these things?"

Shallot went into the bag pulling out the book "Material and You Vol 1." and flipped through the pages until he came across the best material for transformation weapons.

[Introduction]

Metallurgy for combat can be broken down into two categories; Weaponsmithing and Armoursmithing. These two types of metallurgy are widely used all across Remnant since it was first discovered in 10,657 although not as widely used in modern-day due to limitations set in place by the Kingdoms and the rise of modern armor which uses other means of protection.

[Types of Metal]

{Copper}

During the early years of the First Imperium Age, blacksmiths were using copper to make armor and weapons to defend themselves against the Grimm, but this proved to be ineffective because copper was a weak metal and Grimm would tear through early Imperium formations with ease so the Imperium had a rough start in the beginning but further development in blacksmithing had led to bronze being founded and used.

{Bronze}

Bronze was used in place of copper because of its stronger durability and it's enchantable properties, although any item can be enchanted copper was a "throw-away" material and so people didn't waste time enchanting them, made it a far better successor to copper.

{Wrought Iron}

The most widely used metal and perhaps one of the strongest ones on here, wrought iron is particularly popular because of its stronger properties at the expense of being heavier, but the added protection pays off when in combat. With the benefit of being enchanted soldiers would typically have it enchanted to where it would be lighter so that it wouldn't hinder them as much in combat.

{Steel}

Used at first for weapons only because of how difficult it was to make steel, it wasn't until the Imperium/Empire War that steel first started to see it's use in the Imperium military and not until after the War did we start to see an improvement in steel armor design, but because of how difficult the process is to make it steel armor was primarily used by elite guards, generals, nobles and the Imperial family until the third Imperium Age when mastery of steel making made it to where steel armor was much more common than iron.

{Gold}

Bright and flashy gold was experimented with for armor but was discovered that it was too weak and so was allocated to accessories like jewelry, medals, and small trinkets. Although not used in armor primarily it is used as accents to give the wearer more flair and flamboyance.

{Silver}

One of the more elusive ores to mine, silver is coveted by the Huntsmen academies for its innate magical property of being uber effective against Grimm. Not only does silver made armor protect the wearer from Grimm attacks better than most ores it also burns the monsters, and its also an effective weapon allowing wielders of silver weapons to seemingly cut through Grimm like nothing. The downside to this metal is that against man-made weapons it is almost like wearing gold armor, ineffective and almost suicidal which is why Huntsmen would wear silver coated iron or steel or just wear silver only on certain body parts and iron on others.

{Exotic Metals}

These metals are only native to certain areas on Remnant and can not be found anywhere else.

{Gierigen Tränen}

Found in Atlas this ore is named such because it is said that Gierig, the Greedy One after witnessing his brother, Gefräßige, die he fled to a field and wept, from his sorrow came eternal winter and ice and from his tears came Gierigen Tränen or Gierig's Tears. Scientists have claimed that this ore is a natural steel deposit infused with ice dust.

On par with steel but far more difficult to find because of the harsh conditions of Atlas this metal wasn't really capitalized on until the Kingdom of Mantle was formed after the Imperium collapsed and they had to use metal for their military expansion for the War of the Throne. Tränen is used in accents for armor and jewelry in modern times since the introduction of fiber armor plating during the Vengence War which became the normal body armor for the military afterward.

{Wulfsbann}

Found on the continent of Virtus it is named as such because of Gefräßige The Ravenous a massive Dire Wolf whose rage was so ferocious that only high ranking Grimm like the Drakon would be foolish enough to face him. This unbreakable wolf proved to be such a bane of the Grimm that Tenebris, The God of Darkness, personally disguised himself as Gierig, Gefräßige's brother, and killed him and from his body came Wulfsbann. Modern scientists argue that the ore gets it's red "vein" from the abnormally high Grimm activity on the continent and say that it's a form of mutated iron with the same properties as normal iron but with lines of red throughout the armor or weapon and sometimes the lines would form markings that are seen on Grimm themselves. Although it is Grimmtouched the ore seems to have no connection with the Grimm and has been deemed safe for mass production.

Nowadays Wulfsbann is used for certain Ranger armor and jewelry since the introduction of fiber armor.

Qiblat Alsahra'

Named after the Desert Jackal, Alsahra', who was said to have turned what was once a Grimm infested forest into a desert in order to save it by kissing a stone. This stone turned into ore. Found in the harsh deserts of Vacuo the Qiblat Alsahra', or the Desert's Kiss has the same properties as bronze armor but has a lighter color to it almost giving it a copper look. Since it's only found in the desert caves it's is extremely rare to come by and the fact it looks bronze makes people believe it's just a low-grade armor set than what it actually is.

{Ryū no chi}

Ryū no chi, or Dragon's Blood is found amongst the tallest peaks of Mistral Bàofēng's Rest and is named as such because it was said that the ancient dragon, Bàofēng Lóng, was defeated in combat with a Grimm Drakon named Draco Truci and in his death throes Bàofēng bleed across the mountainside and from his thunderous blood came a new ore, Ryū no chi. Modern scientists however just write it off as regular iron deposits infused with electricity dust.

However it came about its properties are astonishing, iron that releases sparks of electricity that acts as a personal shield for those who have no aura.

{Obsidiaite}

Found on an island several leagues south of Saugus, Obsidiaite is by far the toughest metal on Remnant, even being able to stop modern bullets from hitting the wearer from underneath, the only thing about this ore is that refining it and forging it into armor or any kind of weapon is a difficult process and if not done correctly the smelted ore would be considered "impure" and lose its natural toughness.

This process was so difficult that the only one who was able to forge into something was the Imperial Royal Blacksmith Octavian Morivam, who had forged it into an impressive suit of armor for the Imperator of that time, Lucius, who later sentenced Octavian to death so as no one else could forge Obsidiaite like him again.

Shallot was reading everything about the metals and it's history while thinking about combinations to make the strongest weapon he could be using and had walked right into the metal store.

There was an elderly man behind the counter wiping the counter down. Shallot walked up to him writing down a list of all the metals he needed and their quantity before paying for it all and leaving.
