A New Heading

"You better take care of her, or else I'm going to bury you alive!" growled Bryan, with ferocity in his tone.

Vincent nodded, and the Slayer retracted his finger. He returned to the Old Chapel, leaving Vincent and me alone again. I sighed before pointing towards the shining vines, indicating the exit of the area.

"Let's get a move on, shall we? The Beasts are awakening from their slumber throughout the Five Domains. Let's get to them before other Mages get their hands on our precious loot," I said, grabbing Vincent's wrist and rushing towards the exit.

A new quest, a new purpose with a new ally. That's what I wanted from the very beginning. Except for the ally part, Vincent was an old pal from my previous life. But I hadn't worked with the man in such a new environment, so I was excited to see what lay before us.

And I was going to learn more about the Grand Orders and Lostbelts of my Original Spell to prove to Z that I was a Mage who understands her power.

As we stepped outside the garden, we landed on a space right in front of the nearby village's gates. Vincent cracked his neck and stretched his arms before proposing our next plan.

"Would you like to head to the Mafia's Headquarters to plan our things? Or do you have a place in mind we can head to?"

"I'd like to head to the Mafia's HQ so we can get a map to plan our next course. How shall we travel? And where is the place?" I asked, unable to control my excitement.

"It's at the Teuton Domain, so that it will be a long journey. I can use my wings to get there in no time, but I don't think you would be comfortable enough for me to carry you the whole journey. Normally, it's about a few weeks on a carriage."

Nah, I'm not going to spend a few weeks on the road when I've got the best ride from the seven seas. I shook my head and threw my hand towards the sky, causing Vincent to leap backward in fright.

"Notice. You are attempting to summon the World Serpent. Are you sure?" asked Vania as she showed me how much power the Familiar would take up.

With the recent jump in levels, I no longer needed a water source to summon the Water Serpent if I didn't intend to use it for battle. So I clicked on the 'Yes' button, and my entire body glowed in many colors while the symbol of the Jörmungandr appeared underneath my feet.

"No need to waste your strength when I've got the best catch of the year! Heed my call and obey my will. Answer to my summons, O' World Serpent of Midgard! Come to me! Jörmungandr!" I shouted as a massive pillar of ocean water sprang out from the rim of the symbol.

When the wall of water came down, a giant serpent slowly coiled upwards from the symbol's rim. It was so calm as I grabbed the Serpent's neck and swung myself to sit on its head like I was riding a horse.

And this bad boy had some big glow-ups from my last usage as he was significantly larger than before and had shining blue scales all over his body. Since we were near the village, a crowd had formed at the entrance as they saw an oversized snake spring out from nowhere.

Vincent's eyes looked like they were about to pop out from their sockets. He didn't know if he should summon his weapon upon facing the Beast of the Midgard Sea or flee. Meanwhile, I could hear children cheering at the sight of the sea Serpent.

When I said this pet was immense, I meant that this thing was more significant than the village. Right now, it's coiled up, and I could see the ocean's horizon from the Jörmungandr's head.

"So what do you think? I caught this bad boy from the Oncoming Storm heading towards Teuton before we fought the Fabian Brookes. Isn't he the cutest?" I asked, scratching behind the Beast's ears like a dog.

"So you were the one who dispersed that storm?! I thought it was one of the Founders that did it! We were about to send out personnel to see the situation, but Sir Velvet reported that the storm was gone. We double-checked, and all we got was clear seas..."

"Because you turned the storm into your pet?! Are you planning to keep a collection?!" yelled Vincent as he extended his wings and flew towards me.

"Maybe... If I could have a proper conversation with the Qilin's consciousness, I would have the third pet... But the armor set and bow work brilliantly, so I'm not complaining."
