Chapter 5

When I woke up again a full day had passed. When I woke up I was blinded by bright lights, once my eyes adjusted I realized that I couldn't see from my left eye. I chalked it up to an injury from the accident and thought it might just be swollen. I looked around and saw my brother and Rika sleeping at the sides of the hospital bed, with further inspection of what I could see of their seeping faces they had been crying. I tried to speak but all that came out were silent gasps.Then I noticed a letter on the table next to my bed addressed to me, I reached out to grab it I noticed that my arms were bandaged tightly with very little skin showing. On the little bit of skin I could see were blackish purple and red spots varying from different sizes. I then checked my whole body realizing I was covered in bandages, I even noticed that half my face was bandaged. I knew I was hurt but I didn't feel anything so I pushed it in the back of my mind for later, I grabbed the letter and read that it was from my father and Susan. After seeing who it was from my mood brightened, I had thought that they survived and wrote this so they could tell me they were fine, I was wrong. After struggling to open the letter for five minutes I finally succeeded. I started to read one of the papers in the envelope written on it.

"Dear Lillith

I am sorry. I'm sorry for blaming you for your mothers death. I'm sorry for ignoring you and your attempts to have a relationship with me. I'm sorry for reacting how I did and for trying to force you to do something you didn't want to. I'm sorry for hitting you for hitting you and treating you how I did, you didn't deserve it. I hope this reaches you. I'm having a nurse write this down because I can't move. I don't have much time left and I doubt you'll wake up soon so I can't apologize in person. In truth the only thing I have left to say is live your life and love whoever you want to love, and know that I will love you no matter what. I'm sorry.

The second said

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect and care for you like I promised when I married you father. I'm most sorry that I won't get to see you get married. Goodbye Lillith I love you

P.S make sure to patch things up with Rika and take good care of yourself and your brother and eat proper meals"

By the time I finished both letters they were soaked in tears. I stared at the letters until I heard a noise coming from in front of me. Rika had just woken up to the sound of me sniffling and as I looked up to see where the sound came from with tears still pouring down my face Rika ran to hug me crying trying to say something. I couldn't understand what she was saying but all the commotion woke up my brother and he had the same reaction as Rika
