Even if the vampire race is ruled by the Crimson family, it does not mean that other people have no say in the order of this country.

The Constantine family is one of these families. The Constantine family has taken care of the Vampires' foreign affairs since Almira became queen, thanks to their family bloodline ability.

These are jobs such as bringing news from outside the Vampire continent, assassinating important people, searching for any unexplored land.

The bloodline ability of the Constantine family is related to bats. This ability has an effect that attracts bats. So it becomes easier for them to tame them.

Bonding with animals is not uncommon in this world. Even if they can be created, they are simple agreements such as not only betraying them master and stating that them is them master's animal.

In the Constantine family's bloodline ability, they can bond with a single bat for their entire life, and this bat will remain attached to their masters for the rest of their lives. Unlike other contracted animals, if the bat takes fatal damage, this effect is also reflected on its master. It won't kill them, but their magic power will very weak for sometime. The stronger the person, the stronger this effect becomes.

Additionally, when the master gets stronger, the bat gets stronger too. This again differs from other contracted animals. This empowerment depends on the path chosen by the owner. If them're training to be an assassin, the bat develops effects such as stealth, instant fatal strikes. If them has more ranger training, this time bat night vision will improve, bat will improve their ability to select the target from a distance.

Elanor Constantine turns 13 this year and is finally old enough to choose her own bat familiar.

In the mansion of the duke of Constantine there is a cave where these bats grow. Elanor was walking towards this cave with her mother.

Miss Constantine looked at her daughter and said, "Are you excited, honey. You've been waiting for this day since you started your training, haven't you?"

Elanor looked at her mother with the same expression on her face and said, "Yes, mother." Even though her facial expression remained the same, she was deeply excited. After all, since she had been 'alone' since she was little, she was inwardly happy that she would now have someone to talk to.

They entered the dark cave and looked around. Lots of baby bats flying around or sleeping.

Miss Const. "Then activate your bloodline, Elanor." Said.

Elanor nodded and activated her bloodline ability. The moment this happened, all the baby bats around looked at her and started flying towards her.

That's what this bloodline ability was like, making bats like a butterfly drawn into the fire.

The selection methods are different for the whole Constantine family. Elanor didn't want a weak-willed companion with her, so she unleashed her own dominant aura and abducted the bats. Even if this pressure is nothing for creatures like hers mother next to her, it means death instinctively for the bat, which is simply just an animal.

Eventually the numbered bat barely stayed around and the others fled immediately. Those were the smarter part because they seemed to understand that this was a kind of test rather than listening to their instincts.

Finally she looked around and saw a smaller vampire than the others. She was surprised that this bat stood like that, even though it was still immature. And Elanor was a girl after all and found it looks cute so she decided to pick this bat.

When the other remaining bats saw Elanor heading towards this tiny bat, they tried to scare the tiny bat away. But the little bat glared at them arrogantly and never backed down.

Elanor was surprised and pleased again to see this. When she finally reached it, the little bat began circling her, and the other bats accepted defeat and went back to their things.

Miss Const, who was silent the whole time. She watched the events unfold with a warm smile on her face. She was happy with her daughter's choice, it was important that your first and only pick's familiar was high potential, and this bat looked smart in a good way.

"Then I'll begin the ritual, get it to drink your blood, Elanor." Said.

Elanor nodded her head and slashed her wrist, causing blood to flow, as the tiny bat saw this and immediately flew towards her. After all, she was choosing her comrade, not her life partner, so she didn't get it to drink from her neck.

Meanwhile, Miss Const. She began to chant the spell. A mystical aura began to form around Elanor and the tiny bat, and Elanor could feel her bloodline being activated. The bat also stopped drinking blood, as if affected by the weather.

After a while longer, the spell was gone, and Elanor could feel the connection between her and this tiny bat. Even though the little bat couldn't speak right now, she could tell that it was happy. As the bat landed on her hand, she began to pet it head, and the bat muttered too.

Miss Const. "Congratulations sweetheart on successfully contracting your family. What did you think of the name?" she asked.

Elanor could tell that her tiny familiar was a female, so she smiled for the first time today, "Thank you Mom, I thought of her name as Mia." "What do you think, Mia?" she asked as looked to the little bat. Mia waved her little wings in response and showed an excited expression. It was clear from her actions that she liked it.

Miss Const. nodded her head. Afterwards, "Then we are going to the royal palace now." Said.

Elanor also reverted to her normal expression and nodded.
