As time passed Vorbuk was not sure how long he had been fighting. Mana was draining from him being in his human form and it was causing him to slowly become more and more exhausted. For a creature that thrived on mana for the sake of survival it was something that instinctively caused his nerves to shudder. In the back of his mind he knew that it was part of his instincts as a beast in this world trying to cause him to put more weight on his safety and abandon those around him that were irrelevant to him. For a beast the lower the mana amount you had left the more risk you had at losing your life.
Vorbuk did not listen to those warning bells going off within himself. As the hours passed he pushed himself to wield that blade and push forward. Not only was he pushing for it to feel more natural to wield the blade. He wanted to force his mana to expand. The pool had to be forced to its limit in order to force himself to grow quicker. Never pushing his limits would only become a hindrance if his growth slowed down.
Ffsshh! Ffsshh! Ffsshh!
The sound of his blade swinging throughout the air could be heard as he continuously struck down at skeletal monsters one by one as he came across them. Sounds of clattering could be heard as their bones fell apart upon his attacks. As much as he hated the feeling of cutting them down in the beginning the more he did it the more comfortable he became with his action.
Does it come naturally because I am not originally human in this world? He questioned the fact that he could kill so many creatures without feeling much regret. It almost seemed inhuman to him but at the same time he was no longer human to begin with. Simply putting it to himself he was a beast in the form of a human. Yet it was his memories of being a human that allowed him to still cherish the humanity he once had known.
"Kyaaahh!" A girl shrieked on the street as one of the monsters ran up after her. The blazing purple flames exuding from its body illuminating the beautiful girl's face. There was something about her that instantly caused Vorbuk to react without hesitation.
Blade in hand he closed the gap between him and the monster. Slicing the creature part in a split second without a word. He was not sure what had drove him to react in such a manner without thinking.
After saving so many people today have I become unable to concentrate from exhaustion? Thinking for a moment without looking back at the girl he considered it a possible scenario. He had indeed been pushing himself hard to get use to the actions and weight of the weapon all day. Having gods voice to aid him to learn things quicker then most did not mean he was incapable of becoming over worked.
"Th-Thank you." The girl sighed heavily behind him. Sounds of her footsteps could be heard as she was approaching him.
"Who are you?" He flinched as his body reacted to cut down another skeleton monster before it could approach her. Glancing to the side he could not help but pause slightly to take a heavier look at the young lady.
"I... I am.." She seemed to be nervous as she started talking. Her hair was long and white as snow. A pair of golden eyes sparkled in the light of the moon as the day had long passed in the time he had been pushing himself to fight. Clothing of pure white and an elegant soft pink were on her as if she was someone of high status. That was not the thing that most caught his attention, however.
The girl in front of him had a fluffy white tail and flurry white canine ears. She was a demi beast! A faint blush quickly covered Vorbuk's face causing him to look away quickly.
What the hell? He thought to himself and cleared his throat.
"Forget it. I don't actually care. Get somewhere safe already." He said sternly as he turned to get back to his practice. There was not much time left he could continue fighting in his human form without collapsing from his mana draining too low. Wasting time with the girl was not something he wanted to do. What was most important to him was training quickly so that he could find Leo and solve the problem of the mastermind.
"W-Wait.. I'm actually.. The princess of Theapan.. You're actually a.." Her white ears pinned back as she could faintly smell the scent of beast coming from Vorbuk. "demi too right?"
She only got part of it right.. Vorbuk felt his heart pound hard against his chest. For a second he had thought she realized he was a companion beast.
Not realizing he was a beast hadn't cleared his suspicion of the girl's instincts. It did not matter if she full out called him a companion beast. She had declared herself the princess of one of the kingdoms known for aiding the ice queen, Lyra. If she was hiding among the kingdom of Cista there were numerous possibilities.
Was she driven out of her home by some unknown problems?
Was she involved in the skeletons attack on Cista?
The big question for him was... Is she a threat to Cadirade Kingdom and Prince Leo? He would not tolerate her existence if she posed a threat to those who were important to him in this life. Nothing would stand in his way of protecting what was important to him.
A large killing intent started to escape from his body as he stood there in silence for a long moment in thought. Having heard those words several alarms within him started to go off.
"What would the princess of The Kingdom of Theapan, a kingdom for the demi wolves, be doing in Cista?" Vorbuk leaned in close to her and whispered further into her ear. "Theapan wouldn't be involved in this matter too would they?"
The girl's body shuddered from the cold and fierce tone in his voice. It was like a mask of kindness had been ripped away from him and he would rip her apart if she was found to be a threat. A faint black smoke was coming from Vorbuk's body enshrouding them in a wave of black smoke from head to toe.
Princess of Theapan or not... Vorbuk's bright red eyes glared deep into her pair of golden eyes that were filled with fear. Yet she did not waver in gazing straight back into his. A deep rumbling could be heard escaping from his throat as he debated on whether or not to kill the princess. Her kingdom was a threat to Prince Leo's kingdom, Cadirade.
Why is she hiding in Cista? If I end her now... His thoughts hesitated and tried to weigh his situation.
"I am Princess Isis." She spoke calmly to him but there was still a lingering fear in her voice because she knew she stood no chance against him if he was to really attack her. The only action she could take was to remain calm and hope for a chance to escape the man that stood before her. Her eyes could see the black smoke closing in around them the more he contemplated taking her life.
