Chapter 40

"Finally! Finally! Finally!" Curtis laughed wildly inside of his room as a bright red light enveloped everything around him. His body was glowing so bright that that everyone around the palace who could see the light stared at it with chills running down their spines.

"I finally obtained it! I can feel it in my core and soul!" He could not stop laughing as a smile spread wide across his face.

His deep blue eyes faded into a deep red as he stared at the scroll that he had unrolled across his desk. It was covered in various gems and crystals that he had struggled to search the entire realm to obtain. He had given up so much time and money over the years to obtain everything he needed to reach where he stood today as he glared at the scroll. He had finally broken through and no longer needed it so he quickly picked it up and held it in his hands.

The scroll burst into flames in his hand and turned to ash that fell to his floor.

"She truly did keep her word, that Ice b***h." He mumbled to himself before turning to look at his mirror to study himself for a moment. He had sacrificed his brother for the scroll from the Ice Queen that he had finally completed in using.

After spending countless minutes practicing he managed to get his red eyes to turn back into their deep blue. There were little flecks of red, but it was not easily noticeable as long as nobody stared intently enough at him to realize it was there. He was not worried about people staring as all he had to do was simply be careful to avoid that kind of situation with people and that was easy cause he hated being stared at anyways so most people in the palace would not bother to do it.

"Looks like this little bit has been completed perfectly. I should rather thank Emery for being useful when I see him in the next life." he smirked at his own words as he stood there staring at himself in the mirror still.

Anyone that saw him would assume him to be a narcissist if they caught sight of him staring so intently while smiling like he was. He could not help but to stare at him self, however, because he was admiring the changes in his body that he could feel and see. He had obtained a part of what he had wanted for a long time, power.

"I wonder who could be useful to me the most next..." he thought out loud as he debated over his plans for the future.

Curtis had many plans for the future, but as he thought about it the only main thing he wanted was to start working on getting rid of his brother, Leo.

If he was to lose his father right away he throne was bound to fall to the crown prince, Leo. It had already been well known among the kingdom and the palace that if something happened to the king that Leo was to get the throne. The very thought made Curtis's fist slam into the mirror in front of him.

"BAM!" "PSHHHH!"

Pieces of shattered mirror flew and scattered across his room. A flaring pain stung all across his knuckles as he simply stood there and watched the blood flow from the gashes across his fist. His eyes were empty and cold.

The loud sound of him punching the mirror alerted the palace maids that something was wrong and one quickly flung his door open in a panic. The second she saw the blood flowing from Curtis she ran over to him to grasp his hand carefully in a panic to check the wound.

"Prince Curtis your hand is hurt badly!" She shouted awkward and scared at the look on his face as he stood there before her.

The other maids in the door were watching in confusion. It took a moment for Curtis to snap out of his dazed thoughts and when he realized there was people in his room he swiftly gained a smile on his face and his eyes filled with kindness as he turned to grab a dirty shirt from his bed and cover his hand with it to stop the bleeding.

"I will be alright..." He spoke with a tone that sounded as though he was embarrassed to be seen in such a state.

"But.. Prince Curtis, it looked pretty bad. Shouldn't we have the palace doctor check in case you need stitches?" The maid struggled to force out her words as she still felt like something was wrong in the situation. She could not get the look on his face earlier out of her mind.

"No." Curtis stated bluntly.

"But-" she tried to protest but he quickly raised his other hand towards her and the others behind her.

"It was merely a simple wound when I fell into the mirror. It is nothing for any of you to worry about and do not speak of this to anyone. Do you understand?" At first his words were sounding polite towards them, but near the end his tone started to carve into a deep threatening tone that made all the maids shiver with fright.

They could all see a deathly glint in his eyes that made him fear that he would see to it that they died if they spoke about his wound to anyone else. Thinking that thought made them all exchange glances and nod at each other in agreement to not speak a word to anyone else. None of them wanted to risk having their life ended by the young prince for something so simple.

"Now, all of you remove yourselves form my sight at once!" He shouted at them.

His shout was enough to cause all the maids to scatter and flee in fright as quickly as possible. He had no desire to deal with them and he hated having others in his room without his permission. It was an invasion of his privacy and one of his peeves that could easily gain a rise in his bad side. The bedroom was his sanctuary to him and he did not want outsiders to taint it without his permission to be inside of it. Even then he was very limited on who he would let inside his room.

As he threw the dirtied and bloodied shirt in the trash by his desk he glanced at his hand. The wounds that were once gushing blood all over his floor were already sealed and completely healed up. A smile crept back onto his face as he stared at his hand in amazement at the progress he had made already.

"You're end shall be next in due time brother." he chuckled to himself.
