Vulen was not surprised to see that the servant girl being scolded was an elf. It made him feel uncomfortable but it was normal. Most servants to vampires were from other races. Being of different races gave them the option to become a source of food for the vampires. Out of the races available elves were of the most common to be taken in as a vampires servant. It was because vampires had long lifespans and they did not like to continuously need to train new servants. Compared to the lifespan of an average human the elves lived much longer.
"If you want those who work under you to respect you at least you should give them a reason to do so." Vulen mumbled to himself as he walked towards the man scolding the servant. The man's rank as a servant is not much better then hers.
"This doesn't involve you, General Vulen." The man warned Vulen as he was heading in their direction.
"I think it does now since you intend to display your actions so openly in front of me." General Vulen leaned in close to the man as he spoke harshly.
"D-Do you know who I work for?!" The male servant began to panic at General Vulen's behavior.
"Do you think I care which one of the guardians of Drethia you work for?" General Vulen asked sarcastically.
The male servant flinched. Had General Vulen lost his mind? Normally when the servant used the name of his master others would show more signs of fear. The general was not showing any reaction towards his master's name being used.
General Vulen sighed as he leaned back and cast a glance down in the direction of the female elf, "Healer."
"W-What?" The man asked back.
General Vulen grit his teeth and spoke again more harshly, "Doesn't this castle have a healer?"
"No!" The man panicked again. "The castle's healers can not waste their skills on a mere servant girl! The king will become furious if they do such a thing for someone like her!"
General Vulen paused for a moment at the male servant's panicked shouting, "I guess I have no other option."
"Can you stand?" General Vulen asked her.
"Are you just going to-?!" The servant started to question General Vulen only to find himself being cut off from talking.
"Do you really think your life is that important to the one you serve?" General Vulen asked him bluntly.
"Wh-What do you mean by that?! Are you threatening me?!" The male servant began to panic as his face flushed with rage.
The servant could not deny those words. His life was not important in the slightest to his master. Vampires tended to keep multiple servants in case some of them died. That was because vampires could have spontaneous moments when they wanted to feed off those that served them. It easily resulted in servants dying from the vampires over feeding on those servants.
There were some vampires who did not lose control of themselves so easily. Some even chose to feed off of beasts rather then other living mortals in the realm. Though that did not apply for the guardians of Drethia's king. They kept dozens of servants because they constantly fed off of them and had to replace them. Instead of training new servants they kept enough of them that the servants were able to train themselves as they never knew when their lives would be given to the hunger of their masters.
"If I killed you now your master would never even notice." General Vulen stated in front of the servant causing his face to pale. "I can take her with me now or I can kill you before I leave with her."
"Wha- You- Alright.." The servant wanted to protest but there was nothing he could say or do. He knew that General Vulen was serious about killing him if he continued to get in his way. If he died there was no way his master would even notice his disappearance. He would simply be replaced by someone else that was simply waiting for the day he died.
"Can you stand?" General Vulen repeated the question to the girl as he knelt down beside her. The girl flinched as her hand touched against her ankle. When the servant had shoved her down earlier she had twisted it.
"I think I can." The girl replied quickly to General Vulen as he had already helped her a lot in this situation.
General Vulen watched as the girl tried to stand with her twisted ankle. It seemed like she was struggling. Reaching out his hand he grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her up to her feet. Her body bumping against his own as he caught her in his arms before she could stumble back down.
"What are you doing?" She flushed as she asked that question as their distance seemed a bit too short.
"Do you really think you can walk without support on that thing?" General Vulen asked her bluntly as he had noticed her condition.
"Thank you for helping me but," The servant girl paused as she chose her words carefully, "has anyone ever told you that you are extremely rude yourself?"
"Yes." General Vulen said before continuing, "Perhaps I should have just ignored your situation completely and left you alone."
General Vulen glanced over at the male servant before helping the girl walk. Holding his arm around her shoulders he helped her maintain her stance as they walked down the long corridor. Once they were out of sight of the male servant he felt like the pressure of the situation had finally let up. Acting tough was one thing but inside Drethia his life was not much safer then the servants themselves. He did not belong to this kingdom nor was he of a race as strong as the dragons to face the higher ranking vampires if they happened to walk up on him causing problems among their staff. It was true that they would not care if a servant died however if they personally caught and outsider causing problems they would never let him off alive.
Before long they made it to the room that General Vulen was temporarily staying in at Drethia Castle. Opening the door they entered into a large room. The decorations in the room were extravagant as the king of Drethia liked to live in luxury. Since the king of Drethia was of the dragon bloodline as well as vampire his desire for extravagant things was deep.
General Vulen was only a guest of the king's but the room was like walking into a fairy-tale. Everything from the bed, chairs, table, and even the doorknob itself was lined in gold. It made the room sparkle in the light of the sun that shone through the bedroom window. It was almost enough to make General Vulen sick over the thought of how obsessed the king was with the things he owned. That was the reason General Vulen knew the king of Drethia accepted his deal. Offering a air battleship to the Drethia King was like offering him a mountain of gold and jewels. It was something the king would not be able to obtain so easily as Yiven did not allow their air ships to be given to anyone outside of Yiven Kingdom.
