Guild Master Seon stood by the window flustered as he watched the man, Vorbuk, leave his room quickly without hesitation. After a while his heart calmed down. He disliked werewolves a lot. It was not because of their difference in race but because of personal trauma.
"What are your orders, sir?" Edwin stepped into the room after making sure the room was clear for him to enter and check on Seon. Glancing at the wine glasses on the table before placing his gaze on Guild Master Seon.
Seon glanced back at Edwin. The man was a demi human of the goat race. He wore a clean white uniform. Although his body was similar to a humans his head was in fact that of a goat with large black horns. His entire body was covered in grey fur and his eyes were golden.
"Edwin, have that man investigated further." Seon turned his gaze back out the window after giving his instruction. "Also.. I want you to keep an eye on him in the future. Report back to me if anything happens."
"Alright, I will take care of it." Edwin turned to leave the room.
Meanwhile...
Vorbuk stepped outside and saw Isis standing on the street waiting for him. She was watching some locals do magic tricks on the side of the street with their mana. It reminded Vorbuk of street performers back on earth. They were making images of different animals out of their mana to entertain the people around.
"Oh-! Are you done already?" Princess Isis asked with a smile when she saw him walking up to her. Excited she rushed over to his side ready to follow him where ever he intended to go next.
"I'm finished here so we can just take a look around and head back to the palace before the others begin to wonder where I went again." Vorbuk knew that once the prince realized he had left that he would begin to worry. The prince worried about him every time he wandered off to hunt monsters as they traveled.
I don't understand why that prince acts as though he has trouble with the thought of being abandoned. Vorbuk thought maybe the prince had trouble with being abandoned because of how much his brother, Curtis, kept prince Leo at a distance growing up.
"... Have you always been close with the prince of Cadirade?" Isis asked him as they walked through the streets of the marketplace.
"Of course not." Vorbuk glanced over at her and wondered what kind of question that was meant to be. He was not from their world and of course had lived his own life before coming to this one. Daryl and Leo were the first two in this world that had been kind to him. Things eventually had developed into him caring about them while at the same time he still desired his own humanity back. For someone who had lived as a human he could not accept the idea of being seen as something similar to a pet.
"I don't mean anything bad by that.. it's just your group reminds me of a family in a way." Princess Isis smiled as she thought about how much their group cared about each other. It was a warm feeling that she never got back home. She only had her father and he was a cold brute who held no love for his daughter.
"Ah? I guess.." Vorbuk was not sure how to respond to such words from the princess.
"... For example Daryl reminds me of an over protective mother figure." The princess kept on day dreaming about the idea as she spoke without filter.
"Pffft!" Vorbuk tried to refrain from laughing as he imagined Daryl's reaction if he had heard those words from her. After hearing the princess say such words about the man the imagine could not be erased from Vorbuk's mind. His stomach hurt from trying to hold himself back from laughter. His steps speeding up so that Isis could not see his face.
Isis smiled brightly as she could see how much Vorbuk was trying to hide that he enjoyed her small conversation.
"Am I wrong?" She asked as she did her best to keep up with him. Pacing her steps so that she was only a couple behind him to his right. It would have been her preference to walk more closely but she knew he was intentionally trying to stay ahead of her and did not want to push him more then she knew she could get away with.
"No. That description probably suits him well actually.. but I wouldn't suggest telling him that directly because you might upset him." Vorbuk grinned as he glanced back in her direction. It almost felt like he could see flowers blooming around her bright expression.
This girl... She's toying with me isn't she? He thought with a faint exhale.
It did not take long before Vorbuk realized that they had gotten turned around. Unable to determine their exact location he could only look for something familiar to help him get a better understanding of where they were. The place was crowded at first but the further they walked the more it felt like people were beginning to thin out. A large dark tent was coming into view the more they walked.
This place is.. Every time I'm near her I feel like I become useless! Vorbuk pondered for a moment as he realized they had wandered near the area of the slave merchant. It was further then he had intended because he had been so focused on the princess's words that he had failed to put more effort in their walk. He felt embarrassed to realize his own failure.
Vorbuk had found himself where the nobles came to buy servants from the slave merchant's tent. It finally dawned on him why the population was thinner. Nobody would wander too close to a slaver that sold off criminals to become servants. Only nobles or higher ranking officials could even afford to buy them to begin with.
There's that glare again-! Vorbuk grit his teeth as he felt someone staring at him. It was a familiar stare that he had felt once before in his carriage ride to the Cista palace when they met the king.
Turning his gaze towards the tent he could sense the one watching him was not far. His eyes once again connecting with the slave from before. There was a faint smirk on the slave's face as their eyes connected. Something about his expression gave off the expression of someone with sly intentions. Vorbuk was not sure what the man wanted from him but it was clear that every time they crossed paths that slave's attention was stuck to him.
"Are you alright?" Isis could see the strange expression on Vorbuk's face but was oblivious to the fact that Vorbuk was being stared down by one of the slaves in the distance.
"I'm fine. Let's just continue to look around." Vorbuk said as he shook off the frustration and confusion he was feeling. The only way he was going to find out what the slave wanted was to find out for himself. There was no killing intent behind the gaze so it was obvious the slaves intent was not to harm him.
