Theapan Temple (Part 14)

Thud! Thud! Clack!

The sounds the bedroom door could be heard slamming shut and locking. The prince's luggage outside the room on the ground. Vorbuk could only think of one place to hide the princess. His own room that he shared with the crown prince, Leo. His head throbbed at the thought of how the prince would react when he realized his luggage had been tossed outside.

"Wasn't that the prince's things?" Isis asked him as she stood there with a puzzled expression.

"He can share with Daryl for now." Vorbuk retorted.

Should I feel bad for Prince Leo? The Princess thought for a moment as she tried to decide what she should say. There silence did not last for long.

Princess Isis walked over to the bed and sat on the side of it. It was made of fabric almost comparable to the royal palace. Since the temple was so full of talent from magic to personal skills it was hard to find anything of low quality in the temple that the pope resided.

"How are you going to deal with the vampire?" Isis asked after a long silence.

"I am going to mark him and if he lives I will use him for information." Vorbuk was honest with her. There was no point in lying to her because he knew she would keep it between them. Isis cared about her father to some extent but she would never betray her faith in Vorbuk either. It was not because she had feelings for him. It was a faith she had in him as a person. A sense of equality between them.

"What will you do with him after the information?" Isis asked a question that had not been brought up by the others. He wanted to use the vampire for information. That meant when that information was acquired the vampire would lose his purpose for being marked. No one had considered what would happen to him after it reached that point.

"I haven't decided." Vorbuk could not give an answer to that. He had not thought about what would happen to Aoki after he'd gotten what he wanted from him. It was something that he felt he could not decide so early. There was no way to tell what Aoki would be like once he was kept under control and not rampaging like he was currently.

Will Aoki be worth keeping later? Or will he be more of a risk factor?

Aoki has been staring into the abyss for so long that it has become a part of himself.

Tomorrow Vorbuk would be going out to confront that threat face to face. He would not be going to capture him yet, but he wanted to at least confront him once first. While he was out there he would also try to locate the king of Theapan. This was probably his last moment of rest before taking on a lot of things.

Vorbuk walked over to princess Isis and knelt down in front of her. Looking up into her golden eyes. Taking her hand in his he gently kissed the back of her hand. Her face flushing from his action. No matter what Vorbuk could not ask anything of Princess Isis until after he took the throne.

Knowing what the future holds it would be wrong to ask anything of her until afterwards. Her heart will surely be damaged after everything is over. She just doesn't want to realize how much she's already affected. That was the conclusion that Vorbuk had on her.

"Princess, during your time here you must not leave this room. I will make sure that nobody unnecessary comes here." Vorbuk said as he knew the others from his group would not act carelessly. He could not judge the temple's reaction. Time together had been too short to fully understand them.

"Alright." Isis did not argue because she knew it would be risky for her to move around. She had found the people that welcomed. That was enough to calm her even if she was limited to the room she was currently in.

"I will have to sleep here as well otherwise it will look strange if nobody is in here. If it is treated as my room it will at least keep others from the temple out." Vorbuk stood up while walking over towards the window.

"H-Huh?!" The princess flushed again as she stood up quickly from her spot.

Vorbuk was intending to share a room with her. Nothing would happen between them but they would still be in the same room. That was enough to make her feel very embarrassed.

"That child is late to rest." Vorbuk muttered to himself as he observed the time.

"Who are you talking about?" The princess asked what he was muttering.

"He should be here soon." Vorbuk said while turning her head towards the door.

Children need plenty of time to rest. He also thought it would be good if the two of them got use to each other in advance.

Tap. Tap.

There was a light tapping on the door. As he opened the door slowly to make sure who was on the other side he found Chase. The boy was in his human form and glancing to the side at the luggage tossed out.

"Did you fight with that man?" Chase slowly asked while glaring at the luggage as if debating to shred it. It looked at if the luggage had somehow offended him.

"No," Vorbuk grabbed the boy and pulled him into the room. "He will just be sharing a room with Daryl for now."

Chase could tell that there was someone else in the room. Not sparing her a glance he kept his attention on Vorbuk.

"This is Princess Isis," Vorbuk introduced him to her. "in the future you'll probably eventually call her mother. You can't let anyone else know she's in here. Her position is very unstable right now. When I am not around you are to help look after her."

"Huh?" Chase was stunned silent.

"Usually men give gifts when they are trying to court someone, but you just jump straight to offering a child." Princess Isis blushed deeply as she tried to comprehend what was going on.

"F-Father, do you mean-?" Chase was so flustered at the situation that he could not talk straight. He was suddenly being told something so huge! At the same time the woman that Vorbuk was talking about seemed flustered as well about this!

"I don't intend to repeat myself. Children should sleep." Vorbuk cut them both off from their rambling. Chase could only shift into his beast form. A large white tiger curling up on the floor across the room away from Vorbuk and the princess. It was not that anyone forced Chase to always choose the floor to sleep in his tiger form. He was not use to mortal beds after living inside the dungeon for so long that it was hard for him to adapt to everything.

"Don't you think that was a bit much for a joke?" The Princess sighed to relax herself.

"Hmm.. We'll see?" Vorbuk smiled and returned to his wolf form. Moving to lay down next to the tiger.
