Simultaneously, they were declared unable to continue. The spectators were silent, processing the intense display they had just witnessed. It was a draw, a testament to their equal prowess and determination.
Next was the match between Samui and Mabui, a duel of wits and strength. Samui, known for her cool and collected demeanor, faced off against Mabui, whose analytical skills and mastery over sealing techniques were well-known.
Their battle was a dance, a game of chess where each maneuver was a calculated move, a deliberate tactic. Samui's precision and control were remarkable, a stark contrast to Mabui's analytical approach, yet they matched each other at every turn.
The climax of their fight was a spectacular display of Samui's Kenjutsu against Mabui's sealing technique. The audience held their breath as Samui sliced through Mabui's defense, her victory apparent. Mabui, although defeated, had pushed Samui to her limits.
"I yield," Mabui admitted, her voice resonating through the silent arena. Samui, panting heavily, nodded in acknowledgment.
Despite her fatigue, Samui was the last one standing. She was declared the winner of the Chunin Exams, her victory met with cheers and applause. Her cool demeanor never faltered, even as the crowd erupted in celebration.
The Hokage turned to A and Fugaku, a sense of urgency apparent in his demeanor. "I must depart now, Raikage-sama, Fugaku. But I assure you, we will continue discussing your relocation once I return."
Fugaku nodded, his gaze thoughtful. "Thank you, Hokage-sama. We appreciate your support."
The Hokage gave him a firm nod, his gaze lingering on Sasuke and Itachi for a moment before he turned to leave.
A week had passed since the monumental decisions were made in the wake of the Uchiha massacre. The air in the room was laden with an odd mixture of anticipation, trepidation, and relief as Fugaku, Mikoto, Itachi, Sasuke, and Ryomaru awaited the return of the Hokage.
Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, entered the room carrying a heavy sack, his shoulders slightly hunched under the weight of his burden. Behind him, a group of shinobi followed, each carrying various items, from scrolls and weapons to food and clothing. Every single possession of the Uchiha Clan had been carefully collected and brought to Kumogakure.
The sight of their belongings, mere material things yet imbued with so much significance and memory, stirred a wave of emotion in the Uchiha family. Each item was a piece of their past, a fragment of their home, a reminder of the life they once had in Konoha.
"Here are your possessions, Fugaku-san," Hiruzen said, placing the sack on the floor. "Every single scroll, weapon, food storage... Everything that belonged to your clan. And also," he paused, opening a small, carefully sealed box to reveal a set of dark orbs glistening under the dim light. "Every single pair of Uchiha eyes that could be salvaged."
Fugaku's eyes widened, his gaze fixed on the precious Sharingan eyes, a symbol of his clan's power and legacy. Mikoto gasped, a hand covering her mouth, while Itachi and Sasuke watched silently, their expressions grim.
"I hope this will aid in the restoration of your clan, Fugaku," Hiruzen said solemnly, closing the box and handing it to the Uchiha patriarch.
"Thank you, Hokage-sama," Fugaku replied, his voice barely above a whisper, the gratitude in his tone undeniable.
As he carefully stowed the box away, a shadow seemed to lift from his shoulders, replaced by a newfound resolve. He looked at his family, his eyes glinting with determination. They had been given a second chance, a chance to rebuild, and he would not let it go to waste.
With the presentation of the Uchiha belongings concluded, Hiruzen turned to another pressing matter. His gaze hardened, his hands clenching into fists at his sides. "As for Danzo Shimura..."
Everyone in the room held their breath, their eyes trained on the Hokage, anticipating his next words.
"Danzo has been stripped of his position within the council and is currently under heavy surveillance in Konoha," he announced, the firmness in his voice leaving no room for doubt. "His actions against your clan were unacceptable, Fugaku. I can assure you he will face the appropriate punishment."
Fugaku's gaze hardened, his fists clenching unconsciously. "And what of his fate, Hokage-sama? Will he pay for the lives he has taken?"
A brief silence followed before Hiruzen responded. "I have decided to keep Danzo alive, under strict confinement. His knowledge and connections within our village and outside could prove vital for the safety of Konoha."
A heavy silence enveloped the room. Fugaku's face was a mask of stoic acceptance, although the bitterness in his eyes was evident. Mikoto gripped her husband's hand, offering him a small, supportive squeeze.
"I understand your disappointment, Fugaku," Hiruzen said quietly, a hint of regret in his voice. "But this decision is for the best. I assure you, Danzo's influence is effectively nullified, and he will pay for his actions."
Sasuke, still too young to fully grasp the gravity of the situation, looked up at his older brother, his dark eyes filled with confusion. Itachi offered a comforting smile, squeezing Sasuke's hand reassuringly.
Meanwhile, Ryomaru watched quietly, his ice-blue eyes absorbing the tension and the strong emotions in the room. Even at his tender age, he understood the implications of what was happening, his young mind swiftly processing the weight of the situation.
The Hokage sighed heavily, rubbing his temples in a rare display of weariness. "Fugaku-san, Mikoto-san... Itachi, Sasuke," he addressed each of them, his voice filled with sincere empathy. "I can't change the past, but I promise you, as the Hokage and as a friend, I will do everything in my power to ensure you have a safe future."
Fugaku nodded, his gaze softening marginally. "Thank you, Hiruzen. Your efforts... your consideration... We are grateful."
As the Hokage prepared to leave, he glanced back at the Uchihas, his gaze lingering momentarily on Sasuke and Itachi. There was a promise in his eyes, a vow of protection and a silent pledge of his commitment to their cause. "Be safe," he said simply, before departing the room.
In the wake of his departure, the room was filled with a tense silence. Each of them was lost in their thoughts, the reality of their situation sinking in.
The Uchihas were now the newest inhabitants of Kumogakure, with every single relic of their past carefully returned to them, and the instigator of their clan's destruction locked away. Their life in Konoha was over, but their future in Kumogakure was just beginning.
