8 Chapter 8

"Let me show you despair!" Luo Ming was just about to activate his skill to attack until he was hit in the face....by Ma Xiao Tao's flame covered fist.

"Wha-" Ma Xiao Tao couldn't believe what was happening. She actually struck her own teammate.

The surrounding onlookers as well as Luo Han's and Hao Lin's eyes widen. Long Chen may be the only one smirking as he was the one responsibe. He predicted where Luo Ming would be as he fights against his teammates and just led Ma Xiao Tao straight to them.

Long Chen already knew from the story that Ma Xiao Tao is someone whose emotions control their actions more, even more so when she's this young. Using Seeker's sight, he just dodged the punch and it landed on her own teammate.

Luo Ming was knocked out in an instant.

Somewhere in the audience, a certain old man was watching in amusement. "Haha, what a cunning young man. To use his opponent's attck to his advantage."

Now the battle became a 3 against 1. Long Chen grouped up with his team members on one side while Ma Xiao Tao was still stricken with shock. He looked at her warily.

"How dare you...." Her demonic fire flares up more fiercely, "How dare you use me like that!"

[Evil Fire Phoenix 3rd ring: Phoenix Wing Ascension]

A pair of flaming wings sprout out from his back but the flames were no longer crimson red, there was a tint of darkness in them.

'This is!' the headmaster, who was also watching becomes alerted.

'She lost control!' Long Chen who read the manhua before knew what those dark coloured fire meant. "Luo Han! Hao Lin! Get off the platform!" Long chen shouts. Spirit masters like them who are two realms lower than Ma Xiao Tao will be severely affected by her attacks, forget mentioning when her demonic fire takes over. Seeing how their Brother Long is reacting, this must be bad news. They did as they were told.

The extremely mad girl used her wings as a boost and lunges herself at Long Chen. The nearby students were affected by her flames so the teachers and staff members had to protect them.

He enhances his abilities by several folds before going head to head against her.

"Stop them!" the headmaster yells but the judge was too slow to react. The two students had already clashed.

Long Chen had long noticed that even with his strengthen physical capabilities, he was still being overwelmed.

This is a skill that allows him access to a beast's instincts known as the sixth sense. Unlike Seeker's sight that lets him see the pathway of his opponent's attacks. His body will react purely by instincts and reflexes alone.

From then on, Long Chen regained equal footing with Ma Xiao Tao. He could now make counter-attacks every now and then. 'Now the only thing, I need to deal with now is her flames. But....' he frowns, 'The only element that can calm the demonic flames are powerful ice-types or pure water types. If somebody doesn't do something, I can't see this ending well at all.'

Just as he was thinking hard on what to do, a bright light came in between their fight. It was none other than the headmaster with his bright phoenix martial spirit. "Stand back. I'll take it from here."

Long Chen did as he was instructed but he didn't evacuate because he knew that even the headmaster had no way to control Ma Xiao Tao's demonic fire unless he has some sort of sealing spirit tool on him right now which he most likely doesn't. 'This may be a bad timing for this to happen while there's no water or ice type spirit masters around.'

'What was it that old man necoromancer said about attacking the source through penetration? The core? What's the source of the demonic flames? Fire! But I don't have water or ice to calm it, flames will not affect the evil fire phoenix. The other one is darkness! My boundary mirror contains the elements of light, dark and mental. Will it work?' All these thoughts were running through his head, "Well I don't much of a choice but bet it all on this possibility."

"Headmaster Yan!" Long Chen calls out

"What are you doing?! Hurry and evacuate!"

"I may have a way to supress the demonic flames!"

"You do!" The man himself couldn't believe what he was hearing, a student who just broke through spirit grandmaster not too long ago is saying that he has a way to surpress the berserk evil fire phoenix.

"But, I will need to get close to her!"

'Can I trust him?' He looks at the young boy before turning his head back at the wild girl. 'If this goes on, it will hurt her cultivation. There's no powerful ice or water type spirit masters in Shrek so....' He sighs, "I'll leave it to you."

"Yes!"

Headmaster Yan immediately restrains Ma Xiao Tao with ease and Long Chen got the signal to approach her with his mirror behind him. He stands in front of her and begins to use the spiritual energy within his mirror to connect to the demonic energy within the flames. However, the flames realised it and begun to fight back. It is fortunate that the headmaster is here, or else he would have become human barbeque by now.

Seeing that the demonic energy was retaliating violently against the mirror, he had to use this ability to replicate the flames itself and absord it. As Long Chen predicted, the flames did get drained into the mirror. It was taking a toll in the boy himself to absord dprk energy directly like this so he had to use [Boundary mirror : realm of heaven] to continuously recover himself and neutralize the evil energy with light in the mirror.

The process took more than 20 minutes but it was evident that the flames were now smaller. Headmaster Yan couldn't believe what he is witnessing. 'He really is surpressing the evil fire phoenix.'

Once it was done, Long Chen is already covered in sweat and panting. Ma Xiao tao is unconcious and laying on the floor. Headmaster Yan strides toward Long Chen and was about to pat his back for a job well done.

"It is finished, nicely done stu-" Before his hand could touch him, Long Chen had collapsed. The man managed to catch the boy, "STUDENT! SOMEONE GET THE MEDIC!!"

Long Chen's POV

This is my second time coming back to the infirmary. I got up to check up on my martial spirit after taking in the demonic flames. I noticed some changes. the structure of my mirror was different compared to before. There were now black markings on them, some on the top and bottom. I have no idea what this means but there's no other problems so it's better to not think too deeply into it.

No point in mulling over something I don't understand.

Later on, a teacher had came in and informed me of the aftermath. Apparently, the tournament gave my team the position as champions. The results was already announced while I was unconscious. Naturally, my teammates and I were already selected to be candidates for the position of core pupils. Ma Xiao Tao and Dai Yaoheng were also to be in the list of candidates.

All was well but I was not informed of what happened to Ma Xiao Tao. There is one more thing. I was instructed to head to the Director Du's office upon waking up.
