"Professor, have you finished?" The figure who had been hidden in the background in silence asked in a soft voice.

The professor leaped up, startled by the voice and saw his assistant, Alice.

She was a humanoid AI, designed to look like a young woman with short blonde hair and blue eyes.

She wore a white lab coat over a simple dress and carried a translucent tablet with blue marks engraved on it, in her hand.

"Oh, Alice, you're here." he said, putting down his tool. "How's the project faring?"

Ignoring the professor lack of abilities to read the mood.

Alice smiled and showed him the tablet. "Everything is going smoothly, Professor. The Ether reactor is stable, the energy output is optimal, and the security system is activated. We're ready to start the final phase of the project."

The professor nodded and rubbed his chin. "That's good to hear, Alice. You've done a great job as always."

Alice blushed slightly and lowered her head.
