Nine legs, zero lives.

Now I go crazy over my teeth, sure, but don't get me wrong, that's not even the best part. My bristles now give me far better control over my movement and allow me to grip in weird places I wouldn't normally be able to. One more evolution and I may be able to even hang from the ceiling! Still, it pales in comparison to the carbon-based body.

My new body is pretty damn cool. I can feel myself clearly, and without focusing I now breathe throughout every part of my body. It's not like breathing really, it's more like every single cell contains its own life! It's a great feeling, honestly

Alright, enough with that, it's time to get spicy. What better way to get used to my new worm self than to go and fight? I'll have to be cautious as I've never seen any of these creatures before, but oh well. No pain no gain. Some pain maybe death. This just makes it all the more interesting.

All right, now that I've got everything figured out, I begin to look for a tunnel to fight in. It's not long before I find one. Not too close, nor too far, with a somewhat wide and squashed look. It's settled! I head that way as fast as my little setae can take me, eager to test out my newfound prowess.

Now, it may seem like I'm a battle freak, but it's more accurate to say there isn't anything else to do. I have to options, tunnel or battle. So don't judge me for what I'm about to do.

I burst through the side of the wall with fury, making as much noise as I want, trying to attract something. Not the best decision but whatever. Nothing happens anyway, so no harm no foul. I am a little confused though, did I scare them all away? That's impossible, right?

After making sure nothings going to come to me, I decide to head forward farther into the tunnel. It seems quiet. Way too quiet. This sense of stillness starts to get to me and I adopt a solemn mood, making absolutely sure to scout the area efficiently. All that and I still almost ran right into it. A thin piece of web, so thin I can barely see the heat coming off of it. Can that web even hold anything? I'm not about to try. A web means some prey, but I hate spiders so this'll be an interesting experience.

I'm nothing if not a creative worm. S when I find an impassible web, what do I do? Throw rocks at it of course. And surprisingly, it works! This massive spider almost twice my size slowly lumbers towards where the rock landed, checking for its prey. Not finding any, it starts to head deeper into the web. Ha, I won't give you a chance!

Now that the spider has its back to me, I lunge forward, taking care tom dodge the tricky web, and seek my mandibles deep into the carapace of the spider.

CRUNCH!

Gross! I can feel fluid seeping from the holes in the spider's abdomen. The spider, taking my moment of disgust, finds a way to stab one of its legs into me. Ouch! Not a good time to zone out, David! Come on, get your head in the game! I quickly remove my mandibles from its carapace, and it does the same, thankfully.

I can feel where I was hurt, very clearly in fact. I can also feel my energy go to the wound, as my carbon body is trying to repair itself at record speed. This would be great, but I need more energy for this fight. Just because I pause doesn't mean the spider isn't plotting. And sure enough, I pay just enough attention to dodge a string of web from the spider.

How rude! I was having an inner monologue you piece of shit! You're worse than Jeremy! Angry, I decide to go all in. So what if I get another stab wound like before, it wasn't all that life-threatening. Decision made, not there's no point and wasting time.

Alright, Let's end this! I lunge as far as my worm body can allow, snapping my mandibles into the spider yet again. This time, however, I went a little far. The poor spider ends up right in my mouth, where my new teeth were. Did I mention my new teeth can spin? Yeah, it doesn't go very well for this poor little bugger. Right as he turns to face my mouth, ready to bite to kill, my teeth go to work, making cutting spiders easy. The worst part? Mr.Spidey's forwards velocity continued as I ate him, so I accidentally ate a quarter of him before he succumbed to the pain. Then I continue eating, having decided not to waste any time.

[Level 8 Nine-legged Spider defeated]

[8 life matter acquired]

Oho! I seem to have eaten this guy before, back in the upper caves, though this one's level is definitely higher. It seems I'm not quite to the second level, but if all battles are like this then I'll be satisfied.

Alright, let's head back home and upgrade them muscles. I wonder what it looks like when a worm gets ripped.

New chapter! I really appreciate all of the support this novel is getting! Like the novel so far, don't forget to add it to your library! And remember, more power stones, more chapters!
