they said..

They said I didn't love him enough

But little did they know, my heart was tough

I held back my feelings, afraid to let them show

But deep inside, my love for him did grow

I kept it hidden, locked away

Thinking it was best to push him away

But now I realize, it was my mistake

To let fear dictate the choices I would make

Oh, they said I didn't love him enough

But the truth is, I loved him too much

I wanted what was best for him, you see

So I set him free, but it's killing me

I watched him walk away, tears in my eyes

Knowing that our love could never die

But I couldn't bear to see him hurt and cry

So I sacrificed my own happiness, oh why?

I thought I was being selfless and kind

But now regrets are all that's left behind

I wish I could turn back time and show

The love I had for him, so he would know

Oh, they said I didn't love him enough

But the truth is, I loved him too much

I wanted what was best for him, you see

So I set him free, but it's killing me

Now he's gone and I'm left here alone

Regretting the love that I never fully showed

I hope he finds happiness wherever he may be

But deep down inside, it still worries me

Oh, they said I didn't love him enough

But the truth is, I loved him too much

I wanted what was best for him, you see

So I set him free, but it's killing me

Oh, they said... they said

But the truth is, my heart's been misled

I loved him more than he'll ever know

And now I'm left with a love that won't let go
