The Devil Sin of Pride

LERAYE'S POV:-

I don't know who I am. I mean literally, I don't have any memories of my past. All I know is that my name is Lucifer, that too because of a certain letter I had found with my belongings when I woke up in a deserted place.

'It was pretty messed up, you know?'

After roaming around for a week in search of my identity, I found a village where I learned, that continent is called the Demon continent and this world is called Visca. For decades I kept searching for a clue about my identity but still couldn't seem to find any.

'Well, to be honest, without any memories it was a freaking hard to search for my origin.'

Somewhere along the journey, I met the Devil King. I challenged him to a fight and even though I fought at my full power, I still lost. It was an interesting fight.

'So 'interesting', that even now it gives me chills.'

He gave me the title of Pride. I liked that title, somehow it felt that it was meant for me.

'Sin Devil of Pride, Lucifer. I had proudly introduced myself many times to people but it always ended up in me killing them, sigh I regret doing that too.'

I met other Sin Devils, and truth be told...I don't think I will ever be able to get along with them in this life time. Especially with Envy.

'That bastard wanted me to change my face because I was more handsome than him. Just what kind of logic is that? Although, it would have been fine if it had been the other way around and I had asked him to change his face.'

In any case, I was given my share of the position which I accepted.

I was also given an army but...

I rejected it. I didn't like the idea of staying in one place.

'Staying at one place and watching the same people fawning over me makes me nauseous. If I get irritated, I might kill my own army.'

So, I started travelling.

'One of the best decisions of my life.'

The other Sin Devils were snickering at my decision.

Searching for my origin I went to Orc Kingdom, Beast Kingdom, Fairy Kingdom, etc.

In the beginning, using my name would bring unnecessary trouble. Those who didn't believe in my words came to bully me. Those who did believe me tried killing me for reward.

'Fun times.'

There was a time when I had to stay alone for 4 months avoiding people.

'I was tired of killing people.'

There also was a time when I had to erase a few cities from the face of this World.

'27 in total.'

Some places were interesting others were boring.

I soon reached Eslaine.

Since just before coming here, I had erased a village so I could not use my identity; due to the lack of an identity card I was imprisoned.

'How many times has it been now?'

As soon as I was released, I started searching for some strong people.

I was expecting to fight an Elven Branch or a Royal Mage but it looked like without disclosing my identity it was going to be a difficult task

The series of events led me to get an adventurers card.

'Maybe I will get to fight a Sapphire rank adventurer,' this idea popped into my mind.

After my assessment, I acquired a gold rank.

I needed to level up but it looked like all the platinum ranks were busy so I couldn't ascend to the next rank.

'This is getting irritating, shall I just barge in and attack the Elven Branch?' I was just thinking along those lines when a female adventurer came to me asking about my rank and if I could join them in their quest.

Since there was nothing else to do, I might as well go with them.

There were 3 people and a child in their party.

The old man, Kaneto, looked really strong.

'Maybe he is training the kid,'

'Let's fight him after this quest ends.' Is what I was thinking when I first met their party.

I talked with them about my 'misfortune' on our way and soon reached the east gate.

There I saw the child being stopped, then meeting with Elven Branch who helped the child to gain entry and then we entered the forest.

'Maybe he is a son of a big shot to equally talk with an Elven Branch like that. I should kidnap him and ask his caretakers to fight me.' Is what I was thinking.

Soon

"Please save my mother, the Pixie Queen, Aria. She was kidnapped by a Supreme Devil," requested the Pixie.

Honestly, with the rules and all, I don't think I can do much in this quest,

'Maybe I should just kidnap him already...no let's wait until the girls' quest is over.'

Then...

"Now tell me...what you know about that pendant," he asked with emotionless eyes.

I didn't see him move at all...even when I activated my eyes to see him I saw nothing, not even an after image...just how did he do that?

'Aaah! This is it! Shrouded in mystery! Unfathomable! Someone who will topple the common sense! A man without mana who is this much strong! Intriguing! This is intriguing! I want to know what will he do next'

And he didn't disappoint me...

He made a deal with those thugs, then

"I found out where the Pixie Queen is possibly kept"

My heartbeat increased quite a bit...this is what I have always wanted, excitement...thrill.

I asked how does he always do this? Does he have an ability that stops time? It would be interesting if he had that...

"Join my party," he gave me a condition if I wanted to know the answer.

My excitement was on top, my heart beat exceeded its limits, I just wanted to say 'yes' and attack him right then and there but...

"Let me decide after this quest is over," I postponed my answer.

After which he kept surprising me one after another, first the high level runes, then becoming a saviour of the devils and finally getting a blessing from the Pixie Queen.

Everything was going smoothly but,

"So you are the Sin Devil of Pride, Lucifer, huh?" He spoke from behind Aria.

Well, I believed he would someday come to know about my real identity if we are going to travel together but I did not expect it to be so soon.

"So what are you going to do next?" I ask him what will be his next move after knowing my identity.

"Nothing in particular just wanted to confirm it. I actually had an idea that you were a Sin devil n all but given the fact you also can use mana and your power level, it was a bit difficult to check the final box, if you know what I mean," he speaks in a casual tone.

I look at him.

'I can't read his mind at all.'

"What if I ended up killing you?" I ask him.

"We can test if you can do that, I'm pretty sure you want to... I mean your excitement was oozing all over the place so many times during our journey. Join my party and call me Leader if I win, okay?" He speaks calmly.

I chuckle at his response.

"Okay, let's fight. I want to know how long you can last against me." I speak channelling all of my mana and devil energy spells that enhanced my body to its limits.

"This is my limit without transformation. Please don't di-"

'Huh?'

I am flying back? Don't tell me he is faster even than this?

Should I transform? No...Let's end it here.

'Using my transformation will collapse this area.'

He then kicks me down to the ground and stands on my chest

"Even with your transformation, you will still lose," he says without batting an eyelid.

'I wouldn't be sure about that but...'

"Okay...Leader," I answer him.
