CHAPTER 19
Inside Deborah's room,Deborah and Esther had already started practicing.
They already know the song they'll sing and the dance moves that'll go with it.
They practiced very well,and felt they were going to beat Lucy and her group.
"Am sure we're going to defeat Lucy", Esther said,sitting on the bed.
Deborah also sat down on the bed and agreed with Esther.
Esther took in a deep breathe and wanted to lay down on the bed,when Deborah said to her," Reed has proven to be better than what the people claim he is".
"Meaning?", Esther asked,looking at Deborah.
She smiled and said," I mean...everyone says that he's bad.He does this to people,he does that.But I haven't seen anything like that,ever since he came".
Esther thought about it and agreed with her,"I guess you're right.He isn't as bad as they say he is".
She then stood up and excused herself," Let me go and check out the hall.I'll love to see how it looks.Are you coming? ".
" Nope!",Esther said out loud and laid on the bed.
Deborah shooked her head and went out.
She was walking,when Blue came from behind with a ball In his mouth.
He came close to Deborah, and touched her with his mane.
She looked and smiled,patting his head,"Oh,if it isn't my evil friend,who almost landed me in trouble yesterday. How are you? ".
Blue smiled and showed her the ball.
" Ah!,I see!",she looks at the ball.
"What are you planning of destroying next?", she asked,and laughed.
Blue gave her the ball,and jumped round her,so that she'll throw the ball.
Deborah couldn't resist the cute jumping lion's big googly eyes.
She shrugged her shoulder and threw the ball.
Quickly, Blue followed the ball,with Deborah behind.
The ball rolled into the monsters chamber,and blue stopped.
He looked at Deborah, who decided to go and get the ball.
She was about to enter the room,when she heard a melodious voice,coming from inside.
She peeped and saw some set of monsters,using both their deep and soft voices to create a wonderful melody to the ear.
Amazed, Deborah entered inside the room,and clapped for them.
The monsters turned to look at her,and saw her looking really happy for them.
" Amazing voices. I didn't know that you monsters had voices".
"Thank you,no one has ever complimented us like that before", one monster said.
Another then said,"We saw Lucy and her friends practicing for the party.So we thought of doing something too".
" That's why we decided to use our voices to create a wonderful melody ",another said.
Deborah nodded and said," That's good,very good.And am sure that you guys will wow everyone ".
They were happy on hearing that.
Her words encouraged them to continue the more.
Deborah got the ball and walked out of the room,while the monsters continued with their practice.
At the King's palace,Old man peter and the elders were discussing with the king,concerning the problems they are facing.
" Our land is doomed forever! ",One of them shouted.
" Reed will kill all of us,that's the truth",another said.
"Ever since he came back,this land only sees war and suffering everyday", another one added.
The king was quite,but he was listening to them.
Then Old man peter said," That's why I said we should find a way to get the book"
"How do you want us to get it?", the king asked him,looking upset.
" You keep on saying we need to,we need to,but how? ".
There was silence.
Old man peter then had a suggestion.
He said to all of them,looking serious," We need someone that'll tell us everything that is going on inside that castle.Reed's movement, plans and so on".
"Then we can think of a way to get the book".
" But who will that person be",an elder asked.
Just as they were talking,Agnes walked inside the palace and greeted all of them.
"What brings you here today?", the king asked her,sitting properly well on his throne.
Agnes' began to act unhappy.
Her mood made all of them to think that she was worried about something.
" What's the matter?",the king asked.
She shooked her head and said,"You won't believe what is going on at the castle.That Reed!,the one behind our misery,is busy planning a party tonight".
Surprised.
They all looked at themselves in amazement, then back at her.
"How did you know?", Old man peter asked her.
She then said,acting as if she was shocked on hearing it," Well..I had gone to see my sweet daughter Lucy,when she told me the news".
"At first, I thought it was a joke.Not until I saw all the monsters arranging everywhere for the party".
" And you won't believe who their commander is..".
"Who?, is it not Reed?", an elder asked.
" Hmm,not only Reed.It was Deborah!, yes!",Agnes lied,pretending to be shocked too.
"She was telling them what to do.While my poor,innocent child was cleaning the dirty floors of the castle. Oh my child!!", she cried out.
All the elders were furious.
Old man peter then said to the king,with annoyance," That girl is nothing but evil,right from her birth".
"She's busy helping our enemy,instead of saving her people".
" You shouldn't be surprised at all.She's John's granddaughter ".
They were all arguing about Deborah, while Agnes was rejoicing.
While the argument was going on,Old man peter finally had an answer to one of the elders' question.
He then said to Agnes," Since your daughter is in that castle, and she always tells you everything going on inside there,can you be of help to us?".
Agnes couldn't understand where everything was going to.
Until,the king said,standing up from his throne, "Yes,we need someone to tell us everything that's happening in there.
So that we can find a way to get that book.
And if your child can do this for us,we shall reward you greatly.What do you say?".
On hearing this,different thoughts began to fly round inside Agnes's head.
" If I agree,what will they give me"
"The only thing that matters to me,is my child's happiness and that's Reed", she was thinking.
Then,her face began to lighten up,as she finally thought of something.
" Yes!,if I succeed in helping them,then I'll ask them to spare Reed's life and give him to my daughter.Oh!,that's good".
She then agreed and left the palace.
Both the king and the elders were pleased.
Old man peter said too was pleased.
All he wanted now was to destroy Reed,and deal with Deborah seriously.
Finally it was night,the party had begun,and all the monsters were celebrating.
Reed was not in the mood to celebrate.
He was focused on his work at the next land,tomorrow.
Blue,on the other hand was enjoying himself already.
He noticed that his master wasn't at the party,so he went and called him.
As soon as he left,the Prince came in.
He was looking at everything the monsters were doing, and just smiled at them.
Some monsters came to meet him,and begged him to join them.
He refused them two times,but later agreed and followed them.
Lucy,on the other hand,was at a corner,where no one will see them in their pretty dresses, looking for Reed.
"Where's he?", she was worried.
She had told the other girls that they'll only start when Reed comes.
But he was nowhere to be seen.
At last,Lucy saw Reed coming with Blue beside him.
Her heart began to beat fast,as she closed her eyes and said a few words of encouragement to herself.
" Be bold Lucy.You can do it.You're the only one for him,and the center of attraction ".
" No one can defeat you",she took in a deep breathe,then let it out.
She was ready.
Reed sat down on his throne, looking at all his monsters.
"I only came here because you begged me Blue,and not for the fun", he said,turning his eyes at Blue.
Blue didn't mind, but rushed to join the others in their fun.
In not less than a minute,Lucy and her friends came out.
They looked like princesses.
Deborah and Esther were coming to the hall,when they saw Lucy and her friends,and the way they dressed lovingly.
" Oh!,the show has begun already? This Lucy is too much ",Esther said angrily.
They came in and stood at a corner,close to the monsters that were practicing earlier.
Deborah saw the monsters and waved at them,and they did the same.
Then the show began.
Lucy began to sing like an angel,as she looked straight at Reed,who wasn't interested at all.
The girls began to sing too,and they were doing it well.
Not until Lucy spoilt everything.
She and her friends,began to dance differently from the other girls, making all of them confused.
She and her friends sang and danced,like they were the most important people there,leaving the other girls out.
The monsters began to laugh at the other girls, as they were making mistakes in their dance moves,which couldn't rhyme with the song that Lucy immediately changed.
Confusion everywhere, Lucy and her friends kept on dancing, with Lucy's eyes on Reed,who didn't even look at her or even raise his head.
" What's his problem? He should at least look at my waist.I've been twisting it for long".
She was upset.
Before they knew it,the monsters began to throw food at them,scattering the dance completely.
"Mu..hahaha.This is so funny!", Esther laughed.
She secretly picked a bone of chicken,and threw at Lucy's face.
" Ahhh!",Lucy screamed,as the bone hit her on the face.
Esther laughed and almost collapsed.
Although it was funny, but Deborah was sorry for the girls that joined Lucy in her dance.
Deborah wasn't surprised at Lucy's behavior, because she had experienced it a lot.
Lucy had never one day given Deborah the chance to shine. Both she and her stepmother.
Now she and her friends are doing the same to the girls.
Because of the commotion going on,Lucy and her group ran away quickly.
Leaving all the monsters happy,"YEAH!!".
They all cheered.
Reed finally rose his head up,acting as if Lucy and her group weren't there in the first place.
"Are they done already?, Strange!,I didn't even see them".
All the monsters laughed.
Esther also laughed and tapped Deborah saying," Its true!".
The prince was annoyed with Reed,"Now he's laughing. Trying to be funny".
Reed stood up from his throne,and felt like leaving, when he and the monsters began to hear a melody.
He looked and saw the monsters,that Deborah met earlier, using their voices to create wonderful melodies.
"Now that's pleasing", he said,sitting back.
Deborah was amazed by their voices,because it was still surprising to her.
She was busy listening to them,when Esther said to her," Keep practicing D.We'll soon be next".
Deborah agreed,and began to sing softly.
Suddenly, she realized something.
Her song matched the melody that the monsters were making with their voices.
It rhymed so well,that she moved her body to it.
She was surprised at this.
She called Esther,but she was busy dancing and singing.
Not knowing that Deborah was calling.
Deborah then had a plan,which she was sure, was going to move everyone, including Reed to join her.
So she decided to combine her song with the monsters voices.
