When Gavin reached the office early next day Fowler's instructions were awaiting him in the form of RK900. They had to investigate the suspect. Together... Perfect. Bad Cop and what... Plastic Cop?
The air in the interrogation room was thick with tension. Gavin leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers impatiently on the table, his eyes fixed on the suspect who sat across from him. The man, dishevelled and with a wild look in his eyes, stared back defiantly. RK900 stood silently in the corner, his LED a calm blue, his expression unreadable.
"Let's make this simple," Gavin began, his voice low and threatening. "Tell us why you did that and if there are any more victims anywhere, and maybe, just maybe, I'll put in a good word for you."
The suspect chuckled, a dark, humourless sound.
"You think I'm scared of you, cop? I've seen things that would make your skin crawl. I'm not giving up anything."
Gavin's jaw tightened.
"You don't understand the situation you're in. We already have enough to put you away for a long time. Cooperate, and it might go easier for you."
RK900 stepped forward, his voice calm and even.
"Your cooperation is in your best interest. The information you provide could be beneficial in reducing or lightening your sentence."
The suspect's eyes flicked to RK900, and his lip curled in disdain.
"You think I'm going to talk to a plastic doll? You don't know anything."
Gavin slammed his fist on the table, leaning in close to the suspect.
"Listen, you piece of shit. We found the android kids, or what's left of them. You want to end up like that? Keep playing games."
The suspect's defiance wavered for a moment as if the tone or whatever Gavin did, got to him, but then he shook his head, a twisted smile forming on his lips.
"You don't get it. I'm not scared because I'm just a pawn used for the greater good. It's not me who should be afraid but you! All of you! Afraid of him and what he will do in Detroit. And I would never betray him." He was starting to sound like some freaking psycho or believer.
RK900's blue LED flickered briefly as he analyzed the suspect's response catching on the newest information he spilled: he wasn't the only one in this... and he was not the boss.
"Who is this mastermind? Provide us with a name and location."
The suspect's laughter filled the room, a chilling sound.
"You really think I'd give him up? He's a genius. A visionary. You wouldn't understand. Especially a soulless object like you!"
Gavin's patience was wearing thin and the comment he just heard made him even more angry... No one talks about his plastic prick like that! Only he can...
He stood up abruptly, the chair scraping loudly against the floor.
"You think he's a genius? He's a psychopath, and you're helping him destroy lives. You're going to rot in prison for this."
RK900 remained composed, stepping closer to the suspect.
"We will find him, with or without your help. Your cooperation could significantly reduce the severity of your punishment."
The suspect spat on the floor, his eyes wild.
"You can try, but you'll never find him. He's always ten steps ahead."
The interrogation dragged on, with Gavin growing increasingly frustrated by the suspect's refusal to cooperate. Each attempt to extract information was met with defiance and cryptic remarks about the mastermind. RK900's calm demeanour only seemed to irritate Gavin further.
After hours of questioning, they finally took a break. Gavin stormed out of the interrogation room, his fists clenched at his sides. RK900 followed him, his expression as unreadable as ever.
"Goddamn it!" Gavin shouted, slamming his fist against the wall. "He's just a pawn, and we can't even get him to talk. We're wasting time."
RK900 observed him for a moment before speaking.
"His psychological profile suggests a deep admiration for the mastermind and a masochistic side. Traditional interrogation techniques may not be effective."
Gavin glared at him.
"Oh, so now you're a shrink too? What's your brilliant plan, then?"
RK900's LED flickered blue as he processed the question.
"We need to understand his motivations and exploit his loyalty. He may reveal information if he believes it will protect or benefit the mastermind. The other option is... Impossible as it would mean breaking few of police investigation rules."
Gavin took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. Android or not... He hated when kids suffered so he really wanted to get this bastard.
"Fine. Let's try your way. But if it doesn't work, I'm going back in there and tearing him apart... and to hell with the rules then!"

Back in the interrogation room, Gavin and RK900 resumed their questioning. This time, they took a different approach. Gavin leaned back, trying to appear less threatening - which was hard by the way, while RK900 took the lead.
"You admire the mastermind," RK900 began, his tone neutral. "You believe in his vision. What is it that makes you so loyal to him?"
The suspect's eyes flicked to RK900, a hint of curiosity in his gaze.
"You wouldn't understand. He's... brilliant. He sees the world in a way no one else does."
RK900 nodded slightly.
"Tell us about his vision. What is it that you find so compelling and what does it have to do with the android children?"
The suspect hesitated, his gaze shifting between Gavin and RK900. But as he saw that Gavin seemed uninterested and quiet, while the android kept asking, he decided to teach the plastic a bit about the greatness of his master.
"He wants to create something better. Something perfect. The androids, the children... they're just the beginning. He's going to change everything."
Gavin's patience was wearing thin again.
"Change everything how? By tearing kids apart and stitching them back together?"
The suspect's expression turned fierce.
"You don't understand! He's creating a new form of life. Something superior to humans and androids. He's a goddamn genius, and you're too blind to see it."
RK900 leaned in slightly. To the suspect and seeing it, Gaving felt a chill run down his spine... Why did it look like a predator leaning towards its prey?
"We need to understand his methods to fully appreciate his vision. Help us see what you see."
The suspect's resolve seemed to waver. He leaned back in his chair, his eyes closing briefly.
"He's... he's always been ahead of his time. CyberLife, the androids... they were just tools for him. He's building something greater, something that will outlast us all. Or rather that will make us - the chosen ones - see the end of the world together!"
Gavin exchanged a glance with RK900, his frustration mounting.
"Where is he? You know we need to stop him before he destroys more lives."
The suspect shook his head in his madness.
"I can't. I won't betray him. He's the future!"
RK900's LED a still, cold blue as he spoke. In the same time he showed of map of Detroit - the region they earlier dedicated as the place of their operation.
"If he truly is the future, wouldn't it be wise to ensure his safety? The police are closing in. Helping us might be the only way to protect him."
The suspect's eyes snapped open, a glimmer of fear in his gaze as his eyes washed over the map for a split second and returned to RK900.
"N... no! You can't! They won't be able to hurt him! That warehouse is like a safe house! With traps and all... He will be safe! They'll never get to him. He's always watching!"
He started laughing like a maniac.
Gavin stood up, signalling the end of the interrogation.
"We'll see about that. Thanks for the tip."
I think making Gavin angry or sigh is my new hobby... XD Btw. would love to hear if you like it so far <3 And how are you doing today? :D
