Smiled wryly and laughed a little.
Aimee was busy remembering.
Did she have any friends to be drunk with?
All of her friends were married and had families of their own.
Then, Aimee who was only 5 years in this city. Will it be easy to have many friends after her old age continued to grow? She had not yet found a suitable partner because of her commitment.
Then, if women of her age talked about their boyfriends, husbands, in-laws, or even their children. What could Aimee do in their midst?
And, will she have a connected topic to talk about?
"I'm at home, Boss! At home!" Aimee said stubbornly and pouted.
Alfin touched his forehead and didn't want to guess. But still continued to serve Aimee.
"Then why do you have to get drunk by yourself? Is someone else with you now?"
Knew well that Aimee was alone. Alvin continued.
"Otherwise, why do you have to do weird things drunkenly? When you realize you still have to work tomorrow."
Alfin was now starting to get suspicious.
Could it be because of being drunk too, Aimee came late today?
It was natural for Alfin if he saw an employee coming late to the office.
But Aimee hardly ever came in that late.
Been a few times lately. But she was never too late beyond Alfin's fickle arrival time.
Alfin didn't know that Aimee had just had a bad dream last night. And had trouble getting up the next morning.
"I'm not drunk, Boss. I just drank a little. Very little. Maybe 3 sips? Or two, huh?"
Aimee shook her head and tried to wake herself up. Aimee continued her muddled speech.
"But somehow, my head feels weird and light? Like, all my troubles fly. But it's not going anywhere either."
Aimee added another addition to her words.
"Then according to Boss, what happened to me?!" She asked innocently.
Wanted to laugh but it felt unethical, Alfin answered very quickly.
"Of course, you're drunk! Would Aimee call me at this time of night? Acting weird and speaking incoherently!"
Alfin exhaled carelessly.
"Now, tell me. Why should I drag you away from Project Deluxe? Are you tired of working with me?" asked Alfin.
Talked less seriously and joked more often when it was the best way for Alfin to not worry about things.
Especially if the other person was very pleasant to be disturbed and bullied. Like his cousin, Harry Miles. Then sometimes, Alfin also liked to tease Aimee.
This strange situation did not make Alfin tempted to joke. Because Harry's important project was at stake.
But, without Alfin was planning, his question indeed seemed playful.
"Do you want me to be honest?" Aimee asked.
Unaware of slurred speech. And tomorrow when she woke up, Aimee will definitely be in shock. Wouldn't dare to come face to face with Alfin and bury herself as deep as possible into the ground.
Alfin subconsciously forgot his loneliness because he was left by Isabella.
Was busy listening to Aimee's garbled utterances at night without a clear purpose.
Okay. Aimee's goal seemed to exist.
Namely, did not want to get involved in the Deluxe project.
But what were the reasons and triggers? Alfin didn't know at all.
And will probably find out when Aimee woke up. Even when a person was drunk, her honesty was mostly more believable.
"Please be honest, Aimee. I do not forbid you to lie or hold your anxiety. Ready to be a good listener and boss,"
Aimee's amused laughter burst out.
"Hahaha... You're so confident to say that! Who would believe it, if you said you were a good boss?" quipped Aimee with big guts.
Raised an eyebrow and objected.
Alfin seemed to have to withdraw his assumption about drunk people definitely be telling the truth.
When in the fact, their words were muddled and untrustworthy.
"Then, if I'm not a good person? What kind of person am I?" asked Alfin following Aimee's rhythm.
Never directly asked his subordinates. And maybe this was the first time that Alfin had heard direct comments from them.
Aimee who couldn't tell the difference between what she should and shouldn't do, seriously considered her answer.
"Ehm.. you are a very annoying boss!!"
Laughed mockingly then didn't argue.
Alfin responded to Aimee's impudence with an open mind.
"Is that so? You understand me very well! Then?" asked Alfin to find out more.
"Then?" Aimee's voice floated.
Hung her words and got annoyed at having to keep thinking.
"I don't know! You're such a pain in the ass for giving me your endless work!" Aimee protested without a filter.
Aimee lowered her tone.
"You already know I'm not a smart secretary! You have the heart to assign me complicated jobs! Go have fun with your girlfriend. Then torture me!"
Alfin continued to show his patience. Didn't feel offended or tired of listening to Aimee's complaints.
"But, more than that. Can I request one thing? Don't involve me in this project! I don't want to be fired and I don't want to go to hell!!" Aimee pleaded from the bottom of her heart.
Alfin rubbed his chest and exhaled roughly. Thought fast and made final conclusions.
Okay!
This woman was drunk and I don't have to serve her more!
She's just exhausted because I gave her too much work.
But, am I that cruel?
The job I gave was that heavy?
Aimee was not confident to be able to finish it?
Or... was she afraid that Harry had high expectations and was disappointed with the result?
Hah!
That one human!
Can he never make other people feel comfortable?!
Not looking in the mirror and looking for a scapegoat.
