Kaizer elaborates to Eugene about the reset, and finally, Eugene comprehends the reason behind his persistent sense of forgetfulness. This explains why he wakes up feeling disoriented, as certain memories fade away, hindering the early awakening of his consciousness.
The reset occurred when the equilibrium of the world order was disrupted.
It's not just him who is affected; all living beings in Artha experience it. However, Kaizer concludes that some individuals have awakened their consciousness in this world. The ongoing resets happen because those awakened souls do not lose their memories. And as they continue to identify the issues within this world, the balance of the world order gradually drifts.
Kaizer is confident that Eugene's presence in this world remains untraceable to the heavens unless he unleashes his full strength or utilizes an immense amount of divine power.
"So, the resets occur to realign the world, but due to numerous events unfolding, they no longer impact those who have awakened their consciousness."
Kaizer affirmed with a nod, "Indeed, all the alterations you've made are the cause of that."
"Then what about those who have awakened consciousness? Now that they are aware of the world's issues, will they take any action?" Eugene inquired.
Kaizer shook his head, "Unfortunately, they lack the ability to do so."
In this world, no one possesses the authority to alter fate unless they are a demi-god or a divine being capable of influencing the heavens. This is precisely why Eugene's existence poses a threat to those gods, as he has the potential to assume dominion over the world they abandoned.
Artha has no gods, and if Eugene wields his power to sway people's beliefs, he could become the central figure worshipped by all humanity, thereby augmenting his power even further.
After all, a god's strength lies in the number of believers they have.
"You certainly possess a vast amount of knowledge."
Kaizer embraces Eugene tightly with a weary smile. "After all, I've been traveling for a million years. But that lonesome journey is not something I wish to acknowledge. Only those thousands of years with you, I'm willing to cherish and remember."
He couldn't fully comprehend Kaizer's nature. Neither wholly benevolent nor malevolent, Kaizer acted in pursuit of his own interests and seemed to derive pleasure from manipulating others. It made sense, though, given that he was a god, and the desire for control was inherent.
But the question is, why did Kaizer fall in love with him? And why is it that in those worlds, Kaizer would kill him? It's not bad to ask right? So Kaizer...
"Why, in those worlds, did you keep killing me?"
Kaizer's demeanor froze momentarily, but he then let out a small laugh. He had anticipated that Eugene wouldn't let go of this opportunity to uncover the truth, including his crimes and the motives behind his actions.
"Your existence is mesmerizing."
From the moment Kaizer first saw Eugene's soul, he recognized it as an extraordinary existence destined to revolutionize not only the world but also the very order of the heavens. However, Eugene had already perished in five lifetimes, captured and tormented by the heavens, leaving his soul weakened and on the brink of fading away. Kaizer had no choice but to silently observe, patiently waiting until the gods released Eugene from the judgment hall, casting him away to repent and meet his end.
It felt like an unfathomable waste for such a significant existence to fade into nothingness. In response to Casimin's wish, Kaizer accepted and acquired half of Casimin's life force to enable Eugene's soul to survive while traversing different worlds. He made the decision to remain in the world where Eugene resided, taking Eugene's life once he [Eugene] had absorbed the world's energy to prevent the heavens from tracking him [Eugene] and recalling his [Eugene] soul.
It was the only way for Eugene to survive.
However, after enduring thousands of years of solitude, Kaizer couldn't help but yearn for Eugene as a companion. He became obsessed with the notion that Eugene, like him, was a lost soul without a permanent home. Kaizer perceived it as fate that brought them together, believing they were destined to be together.
Yet, merely watching over Eugene was not enough for Kaizer; he longed to be with him. Nevertheless, he was hesitant to let his desires contaminate Eugene's soul. Only by taking Eugene's life could Kaizer gain physical contact with the body Eugene once inhabited, a way to fulfill his deepest desire to possess him.
"You're really perverted."
As Eugene accused him of being perverted, Kaizer couldn't help but grin mischievously. "I can't deny it," he replied, "You're just so perfect to me."
Throughout their thousands of years of traveling, the cycle of resetting in Artha continued, and the cyclic nature of the world order persisted. However, during each reincarnation, Kaizer became increasingly paranoid and possessive. Whenever he noticed Eugene showing affection or interest in others, a wave of jealousy consumed him, leading him to impulsively and ruthlessly end Eugene's life. He couldn't bear the thought of Eugene growing attached to someone else who wasn't him.
Kaizer was aware that Eugene would resent him for his actions, but he seemed undeterred. In his mind, their fates were intertwined, and he believed Eugene could never escape him. Until the day Eugene was reborn in Artha, Kaizer clung tightly and followed the one he loved, doing everything he had ignored in the past, even reclaiming his original body.
However, he didn't anticipate that his own brother would contribute to his beloved's pain.
Feeling helpless and enraged, Kaizer's mind was filled with countless "what if" scenarios. He wished he could reclaim his body earlier to spare Eugene from suffering and have him by his side, living a blissful life together. Though he believed that the thousands of years they had spent together were enough to create an unbreakable bond, Kaizer couldn't escape his insatiable greed. Without Eugene, he felt as if he couldn't survive, and he was willing to make any sacrifice for his beloved, except for one: seeing Eugene with someone else.
His emotions reached a boiling point, and he felt an overwhelming urge to take someone's life.
Kaizer's eyes burned with a fierce determination as he made a solemn vow that if any of the gods dared to harm Eugene, he would unleash his wrath and obliterate everything in his path.
"You're suffocating me," Eugene complained as Kaizer held him tightly.
Frowning he asked, "What are you thinking about now? I assure you, I have no intentions of running away with anyone, so calm down. Your divine power is leaking, and it's not good if someone senses it."
Kaizer took a deep breath and rested his face on Eugene's neck, trying to control his emotions.
"Do you hate me for all those times I killed you?"
Eugene hummed thoughtfully, "In the past, I did hate you for it, but now that you've explained everything, I think I can spare you a little. However, don't forget our deal. I'm the one who will kill you, Kaizer, so make sure not to die until I end your life."
Kaizer chuckled softly, "That's more than enough for me."
As Eugene's understanding of the situation deepened, he chose to stop dwelling on the past and instead focused on facing the future with Kaizer. He realized that impermanence was an inherent aspect of life, and change was constant.
The thought of Kaizer leaving one day made him feel uneasy.
Eugene remained unsure about his feelings. He questioned whether what he felt for Kaizer was genuine love or merely an intense obsession. Nevertheless, one thing was clear to him: he didn't want Kaizer to leave, and he didn't want to leave Kaizer either. Despite the crimes committed in the past, Eugene couldn't overlook the fact that Kaizer played a significant role in bringing him to where he was now. For that alone, he felt a deep sense of gratitude for having someone by his side.
Eugene's realization of his own selfishness didn't deter him; instead, it fueled his desire to keep Kaizer bound to him. He wanted Kaizer to remain obsessed with him, to believe that he couldn't live without him, and to love him unconditionally.
Eugene reveled in the idea of Kaizer carrying the burden of past crimes and feeling guilty for what he had done to him. He yearned for Kaizer to stay by his side indefinitely, for their souls to be inseparably intertwined until the end of time.
With an intense gaze, Eugene held Kaizer's cheek, his eyes reflecting the depth of his obsession. Kaizer's heart raced as he reciprocated the emotion, smiling and holding Eugene's waist.
The two locked eyes, their attachment becoming almost all-consuming, each desiring to be physically close to the other. Their reasons for being so deeply attached may have differed, but the one undeniable truth was that they had become utterly dependent on each other.
In their shared obsession, they found comfort, solace, and an inseparable connection that transcended all else. No matter what the future held, Eugene and Kaizer knew that they couldn't live without each other.
In their own unique ways, they were bonded together, entangled in a relationship fueled by their complex emotions and past experiences. For better or worse, they had become inextricably intertwined, and the intensity of their feelings bound them tightly together.
Eugene show a somewhat sinister smile as he declared, "These eyes should only look at me."
His gaze lowered, revealing a mix of appreciation and a warning. Dark emotions of cruelty and possessiveness emanated from his deep eyes.
Kaizer had become an all-consuming obsession for Eugene, clouding his judgment and driving his actions.
Same with Kaizer.
Every interaction with Eugene became a meticulously calculated event. He'd analyze Euegne's words, gestures, and even his glances, seeking hidden meanings and signs of favor. He'd tell all kinds of love words to show his sincerity, while also searching for validation and reassurance, leaving him anxious if Eugene didn't respond promptly.
"I'm happy," Kaizer said as he held Eugene's hand against his cheek, leaning into the touch.
"Hearing your words assures me that, like me, you're beginning to realize how much you need me."
His eyes glowed with a sense of satisfaction and possessiveness as he remarked, "How wonderful."
Their relationship had evolved into an intense and complex bond filled with possessiveness and mutual dependence. The depth of their emotions led them both to crave each other's attention and reassurance, creating a dynamic that teetered between passion and obsession.
Only by having each other, they can have their redemption.
Kaizer reached Eugene's lips and said, "I love you. I love you so much."
Eugene was satisfied and responded to Kaizer's kisses.
It's only a quick kiss but they are already satisfied. Eugene rested himself on Kaizer's embrace and said, "Yes. Only love me."
Kaizer smell Eugene's hair and rested his chin.
"I won't get tired of loving you and even if you can't give me your response, I'm willing to wait for you to open your heart."
Kaizer only hope that before he disappeared in this world, he can hear Eugene's love words.
With the paperwork in his hands, Eugene shifted his focus to reading the documents. Kaizer noticed that Eugene didn't seem too affected by their intense conversation, which brought him a sense of relief. He took a deep breath and resumed his own paperwork while keeping Eugene comfortably nestled in his arms.
In the Marquis Household, Timber happily plays in the garden with Eunice.
Raphael stood at the side with Vincent and Serena, the young lady's maidservant. With the departure of young masters Eugene and Eullian from the Household, all attention now centered on the young lady. It was no surprise that Vincent, who had no other duties, was assigned to serve Eunice alongside Serena.
"Brother Timber this flower wreath suits you perfectly."
Eunice placed the handmade flower wreath on Timber's head and grinned.
"You look absolutely stunning! Even more beautiful than Brother Eullian!"
Timber's lips twitched, and he patted his chest, saying, "There's no way Eullian looks better than me. Eugene said I'm the most beautiful, and I trust Eugene, so anyone who calls me ugly must be blind!"
Eunice giggled.
"No wonder my brother will marry you! Now I'll have one handsome brother-in-law and one beautiful sister-in-law! I'm the happiest person in this household because I'll become everyone's princess!"
Timber raised his chin proudly. "Of course, you'll be the happiest princess!"
"Yes! And since I'm a princess, in the future, I'll marry a princess too!"
Timber nodded but soon paused. "Ah?"
He scratched his head, seemingly puzzled. "Not a prince but a princess?"
Eunice nodded with enthusiasm. "Yes!"
Timber frowned, "But there is no princess in this empire. The only person who held a princess title beside you is the sole lady of the Del Viltaria."
In their hearts, Raphael, Vincent, and Serena thought, "That's your problem?"
