The investigations into the river bed massacre have been ongoing for two weeks now, and despite all our efforts, we still have no leads in the case other than the fact that it was carried out by wolves. I, for one, was frustrated by our fruitless pursuits, but unlike everyone else, I had no one to push the blame on. Naturally, the news of the death had already spread through the pack. The dreadful news had so captured everyone's attention that no one seemed to mind that their alpha was still without a luna. 

It was another stale morning. Jack was probably busy, as he hadn't reported to work yet, which was rather unusual for someone of his punctual nature. I pulled myself out of bed, cleaned myself up, and hurriedly got dressed with the single determination of finding some sort of clue today. I had the bright idea to step into the forest and search alone.
