Act X (ch 1) - Now A New Life

A/N: I will now be posting the individual chapters from now on. ;PThe breeze carried dust and pebbles to my face. The turmoils of the outside, even the sun brawled my eyes for my undivided attention."Urghh..."The hopes of finding myself in a ravishing new world were quickly eliminated due to the vast lonely wasteland I seemed to be in.Getting up was no easy task as my body had amassed severe fatigue, perhaps from the new life Siev gave me.The comfort of laying on rocks wasn't as pleasant as I had hoped.I glanced at my surroundings and caught a glimpse of a white-haired girl dozing off beside me."Wait..."My legs sprung into action, almost catapulting me into the air. Luckily, just enough to allow me to stand properly. In my previous life, I had no intimate relationship with any girl. In other words, I was a complete loser. Hardly can it be possible for me to know someone quite like her.Almost on some cue, she opened her eyes. Flickering her eyelids. She had blue eyes, as in a deep sapphire impression.Maybe I could sell her eyes for money... Okay, I'll stop.As she looked at me, I was hit with a strange sense of hatred and gratitude."Do I happen to know you?" She said.No matter what my heart was telling me, through my own memory... I've never met this girl in my life."No, in fact, I was going to ask the same question."A tense situation with two strangers having woke up together brought out a sense of fateI found her name to be Amelia. By fact-checking each other we discovered something rather ominous. We had no recollection of our memories. I include myself because even though this should be the time Siev sent me to this world, I had fuzzy memories of experiences with people here.Maybe this body I had wasn't my own.Amelia told me that I was probably the reason for her memory loss, and vice-versa.I planned on living a life of solitude, after all my goal was to make it back home. But after meeting Amelia, I felt reassured.Meanwhile, we explored further into the desolate place. We kept pace until finding a crater. It was certainly a crater, but I have never seen a crater of this size.I wasn't able to see the other side of the crater. The diameter must've been at least the size of a large city. There were hints of civilization or what remained of it inside. I helped Amelia down since she seemed exhausted. It didn't look as though our walking caused it though. Siev brought me into this world and I initially thought my body would be the same. But I was brought forth in a different form. A different person. As I introduced myself to Amelia I was quick to express myself as Theo. Every time I heard Amelia call me Theo my head started to ring and the fuzzy memories started to overflow my brain. I couldn't exactly get a clear image of those memories, as if something was keeping them away on purpose. We finally made our way to the bottom. The surface wasn't much different from here. It was almost empty except for a few piles of rock scattered about.I found a particular rubble, that had fabric on it. It was red with gold outlining the edges. In the middle was an insignia I couldn't recognize."No...Noblem Academy"My mouth uttered nonsensical words, spewing out a name. Noblem Academy?Tears.Tears started to flow down my face. Why? Why was I crying?Amelia noticed and came over to my side. She wore an expression of concern. "Are you alright?" she asked me. Dammit, It's over if I've got a girl concerned for my emotional state. Rubbing the tears off my face I assured her I was okay.I was not okay. Not just because of what happened, but also the incident that brought me to this other world. But I can't worry Amelia further. We took a moment of rest and then explored further. In the very middle of the crater, there was a handle sticking out of the ground. With no hesitation, Amelia pulled it out of the ground revealing a perfectly maintained sword. The decorated swords in my old world stood no match to the appearance of this one. I also felt a strong aura around it. Amelia handed it over saying it felt wrong in her hands. I nodded and gracefully took it off her hands. As I held the sword I looked at the blade. It was reflective despite being in the ground for who knows how long. I finally got a look at the person I had become. I no longer could call myself Xu Xiang. In this world, I was known as Theo. A young man with brown hair tinted with a red accent. A young man with blue eyes just like the sky. While admiring my unmistakable good looks, I noticed an engraving on the bottom part of the blade. I was able to read the symbol, with no issue. It read; 'Miligram'.At that moment I came to a realization. I recalled myself being known as Theo Miligram and the fact that the sword was closely related to my incomplete memories.I kept the sword as we left the crater. It was an inconvenience having no sheathe to carry the sword but that concern was easily dismissable. Using the sorts of cloth I found in the crater I created a simple bag to carry the sword's blade.Upon reaching the surface the comfort of safety no longer existed. The ground shook and battered about. Off in the distance were four wagons heading in our direction. There was no point in trying to run away, and it might even cause a misunderstanding. So we waited for the wagons to reach us.More rumbling. The wagons had large cow-looking creatures pulling. From the looks of it, the owners of these wagons were rather well off in some way or other. When the wagons reached us, men started to step out of the wagons. Their intent was obvious. The men carried swords and bows.Bandits. They tend to raid carriages and merchants on their way to make a profit. Typically the protagonist would find themself fending off the bandits with no issue... but that was not the case here.A large broad man approached us, with the rest of the people following behind him."Young man. What are you doing here in these parts?"The man sounded as though worried about my situation, expelling a hint of goodwill. As if.Behind that wide smile of companionship was a sneer of complete greed. But I might as well take my time talking to him."We are not from these parts. We were traveling to the South of here, but our ride broke down leaving us to wander about. We already expended our resources and things are looking quite grim."I heard snickering amongst the men. The man at the front sighed and scratched his head."Well, that's quite the circumstances. My condolences... I have an offer," he said.I pretended to be amused."I'm listening."The man looked around. He looked at the people behind him, then back at us."That sword you're carrying. If you hand it over we'll give you a ride to the nearest village from here. Now how about that?"My stomach silently grumbled. The wind continued to caress my face. These guys, I don't think I can trust them. Even considering that, what can I do?If I show any sort of resilience they might attack me and Amelia. Handing over the sword seems easy enough, but if it were all a trick I would be completely defenseless.Amelia tugged at my shirt and whispered something into my ear."I will deal with this myself. just decline his offer and irritate him," she said. With no other choice, I agreed. I redirected my attention to the man."I'm going to have to decline."The man seemed intrigued by my choice. The men behind him seemed more ecstatic than him, which raised my concerns. He took out his battleaxe from behind and pointed it towards us."Young man, leave the girl and sword with us... then I will leave you alone."As requested of Amelia I spat towards his feet looking at him with disgust."After a young girl now? Yeesh... I might puke."Veins started to ripple on his face. Yeah, I got him good.Without any further elaboration, he ran at me raising his axe in the air. Now, I trusted Amelia's plan. But when a full-grown man runs at you with an axe. I might panic a little.I closed my eyes and hoped the pain wouldn't hurt so much. The crowd gasped in horror.I heard groans of pain just mere inches from me. I slowly opened my eyes to see the man face to face with me wearing an expression of shock. He dropped his axe and fell backward. There was a large broadsword jammed into his stomach."F-f***ing bastards what did you do!?!" the man yelled. The group of people came forth with their weapons ready. Except I noticedSigns of fear.I turned my head to see what Amelia had done. The blade that pierced the man's stomach was pulled out, by some sort of telekinesis. The man screamed his heart out and blood started to pour out like a river. He panicked, yelling at the men around him to save him. But they ran away. The broadsword floated to Amelia's hand and she grasped it. The moment she did so, the broadsword vanished. The wagons moved away and the man on the floor was in disbelief.Amelia went past me and crouched down next to the man.She leaned into his ear and mumbled something that I could not make out.Well, whatever she said certainly wasn't pretty. The man was left speechless, he even stopped the yelps of pain. Then he died. After that, Amelia got up and walked back to me with a cute smile on her face.Ah, maybe I should watch my back from now on."Hold on... Amelia, we should've nabbed one of the wagons."
